India has already ordered S400 Triumph Surface to Air (SAM) Battery to protect itself from any enemy attack, to protect it's sovereignty and territorial integrity. It will be inducted in the Indian defence forces within a year or two. Also S400 system is a Surface to Air Missile and can be used to kill and destroy incoming enemy aircraft and Balestick Missile. S400 can not be used to attack ground based targets.

To attack any land based target from land, a Surface to Surface Missile like ICBM is used. ICBMs are very long range missile with a target capacity of more than 5000 KM. Some of them can also carry multiple warheads. While Air to Surface Missile is used from fighter jets to destroy land based target and Air to Air Missile is used by one fighter jet to destroy another fighter jet. Sea to Air Missile is used to destroy Aircraft from Ship. Sea to Land Missile is used from Ship or Submarine to target land. For more information you can Google. But S400 Triumph Air Defense Missile System fall in the category of Integrated Air Defense System(IADS). S400 can not be used to target a land. It's defensive system. India bought it to protect itself from enemy Aircraft and Missile attack. S400 is very sophisticated and capable. Fighter jet pilots know that going to any area guarded by S400 will be like committing Suicides. S400 has a range of 400 KM. For an Example if India deployes it near Pakistan Border, then entire Pakistani Air space will become a no fly zone. It can kill any Pakistani Aircraft within Pakistani territory even without crossing the international border. For example Any Pakistani Aircraft can be killed right after it takes of from Lahore, Islamabad or Karachi Airport because those cities fall within 400 KM of Indian Border. But this type of situation will only arise during a war, not during peace. Because of S400's lethal capacity, America didn't like India buying this from Russia. America had put a sanction on India for this but they could not stop India from buying it. I don't like war, I have just given you an example so that you can understand.

I asked how many missiles do the USA have ... 6900 and russia 7200.. I asked how many can the USA shoot down of the Russians 7200 missiles he said "well based on the fact that the USA has multiple (up to 10) redundant systems of lower and lower shielding on their navies you would think that they would also have this system with their own countries protection in mind.." .... "so almost none would get through..."

Coz flexing would be bad for them it would lead to their missiles failing and a loss of income when India sees that the missiles are useless...

The truth is that no 4-star General with a big budget would buy more Russian jets or tanks. He would switch to Western equipment.
Soviet era jets and tanks are cheap, but also really crappy.
