I felt genuine sadness for a terrible, manipulative character because underneath all of that, he still was their father even while he treated them terribly. Connor Roy is actually the most like Logan in his ruthlessness, he’s just dim and his sensitivity makes him vulnerable. He didn’t even take a moment to grieve his father before carrying on with his business (the wedding) which only benefitted HIM, while being fully aware of the chaos that was ensuing around him. He then used that chaos to his advantage choosing that as the moment to ask Willa whether she was gonna leave him, knowing she’d have to say no because his Dad just died, just how Logan used Kendall killing that kid to his advantage to get him back on side. Connor learned all of Logan’s cunning and manipulative tendencies, but he’s just not bright enough to apply them to the business world and too vulnerable to use it to thwart his family despite being treated like total crap by them.

    • @hjc9912

@@DS8G10 You’ve misread that scene entirely. The first line between Willa and Connor was Connor saying ‘what do you think, it’s cancel yeah?’ And Willa says ‘I think it is cancel’, then Connor manipulates her by saying ‘everyone will assume it’s you backing out, but that’s fine… or something good could come out of something bad’, and then goes on to ask her if she wants to leave him. That is pure emotional manipulation, very common in abusive relationships where leverage is pulled away from the abused, the leverage in this case being highlighted earlier in the episode by showing how happy Willa’s mum was, and how Willa’s changing her families life by putting up with him. It’s very clever writing by Armstrong mirroring how Logan acts in business to how Connor treats Willa- ‘by any means necessary’. Remember Connor has so little control over anything compared to those around him, all he has is Willa and his campaign which is why he’s wilfully blind to her not loving him and why he’s spending loads of money to just hit a meaningless 1% in the polls. They’re both his trophies, they make him feel important.
