    I still genuinely believe that olight makes great products. however, if their methodology does not revert back to the way they were doing things in the past as it relates to sales, I probably won't be doing many more olight reviews.

    Olight sales in 2023 taught me that everything on the site is overpriced if they were going to have regular sales with lots of stuff at 30-40% off. This new sale is a complete miss with only a few items on sale and no DIY bundle. I’ll pass until some better deals come along.

    Olight has a lot of issues. Their site is terribly slow and buggy. It crashes. They keep making visitors wait for scfipts to run, often for various pop-ups. The site itself seems to be on 400% zoom. The search is sub-par. By the time a page loads, I've lost interest. Olight has never been customer-friendly. Their non-standard batteries, lack of power bank functionality, low CRI, and ugly blue accents are evidence of this. This pricing thing is the nail in the coffin.
    Deaths and fires seem to be the only things that get olight's attention.

    • @evocati6523
      @evocati6523 2 месяца назад +1

      I have some of their "non standard batteries" that are over a decade old at this point and still work fine, it's just not an issue unless you're running these lights for a long time every night and then you just buy a spare battery. Such an easily overcome problem that I don't understand the hate for

    • @googleuser6635
      @googleuser6635 2 месяца назад

      @@evocati6523 I use my flashlights. I understand the strengths and weaknesses of Lithium-based batteries. Maybe you don't. A decade-old Lithium battery is a hazard to everyone near it. You may be willing to recklessly endanger others. I am not. You really should educate yourself about Lithium-based batteries.
      These batteries last for 300 charges. You may get more, but that is the reliable life. After that, I have no interest in carrying a battery that could fail me at any time, and yes, must buy another over-priced, proprietary battery. Most of my Olight flashlights use 21700 batteries. A charge lasts for a week of regular use. Sometimes for only a day of heavy use. 300 charges is about 22 months of use. Then the battery is disposed of. At 300 charges, the battery's runtime has noticeably decreased. If the new runtime of a 21700 battery is 155 minutes, for example, when it can only provide 100-130 minutes, it's usefulness has gone.
      Depending on where I am, Olight batteries may last for as little as 2 hours. There is some issue with Olight batteries, specifically, that does not do well in certain environments. If you only carry your Olight in your house and around town, you may not experience issues, but I live in a variety of circumstances. I need a light on which I can rely. Olight is a consistent failure. Carrying a spare battery is really a dumb suggestion, and would only serve to waste money. The spare battery would be dead and useless before I could use it. Batteries last longer in the flashlight. Due to their proprietary design, carrying an Olight battery is particularly difficult. Have you ever tried to do what you suggest? I suspect at best you have a spare in a drawer. I do not live a sheltered life. It seems that you do.
      At any given time, I carry 8 or 9 flashlights, mostly 21700-based. I also carry some smaller flashlights. Comparing 21700 batteries, Olight's batteries cost more, are not compatible with anything else, have fewer features, and do not last as long. Were you more knowledgeable and experienced, maybe you would know these things.
      Have you ever used any non-Olight flashlight? Let's compare some popular brands. If I have a Fenix 21700, an Acebeam 21700, and an Olight 21700, only the Olight 21700 cannot swap to other flashlights. Now, the Fenix battery can act as a power bank for my phone, if needed, but the others cannot. The Acebeam is a 5200 mah battery, where the Olight is only 5000 mah. The Fenix is 5100 mah. Nitecore also offers 5100 and 5200 mah 21700 batteries. So, the Olight is, in fact, an inferior battery. Maybe you just don't know...
      When it comes to charge time, again, the Olight is last, even with their new charger. Have you ever actually used anything else?
      For the size and weight of a 21700 battery/flashlight, it should be versatile. Olight is not versatile, at all.
      If I was only going to use a flashlight for a few minutes every blue moon, and did not know anything about other flashlights or batteries, maybe that limited knowledge and experience would make me share your opinion, but I never said I hate the batteries. My experience gives me the benefit of knowing better, and I am not a fan boy. I do carry Olight flashlights. Sometimes they work. Due to poor light color/temperature, Olight flashlights have very limited use--even when they do work. Maybe you don't know or care about such things, but these can be critical for people who use their flashlights.
      Again, I actually use my flashlights--and not just for fun. A non-functional flashlight could mean that someone dies. I don't want that someone to be me. If you have not hit 300 charges in less than a decade, your flashlight is likely just a toy.
      The batteries in the flashlights are not only to power the flashlights. They may power various heat sources, may help start a vehicle, may charge a phone or laptop, may power communications equipment, or whatever. I once used them to power a saw to cut someone out. But, again, maybe you just don't know...
      Olight makes some mediochre flashlights with proprietary, over-priced, sub-par batteries.
      I do have to carry other light sources that are much more reliable than battery-powered light sources, but those forms of light do not have the reach of battery-powered lights.
      The only real test is in a life-or-death scenario. Would you risk your life on Olight? I would not. I suspect the Olight engineers would not, either. But, please try to prove me wrong. Darwin is waiting...
