Just a heads up peeps if you order the tool online it says lifetime warranty in your cart. If you buy in store it only comes with a 90 day limited warranty! So buy online if you can! Again the free lifetime warranty pops up only after you have added the item to your cart. I went and returned the one i had bought in store and bought it and had it shipped to my house online so it would have the lifetime warranty attached!
This is really cool
@@maxlvledc I'm sure it's just a mistake online but Im going to definitely take advantage of it
Dude pro tip! Thanks it still says lifetime. I just bought mine online
Just bought one online because of this tip. I'm sure it's a mistake, but like others I'll take advantage
Harbor Freight might've seen this post. The online warranty says 90 days under Product Support as of 5/25/2024 (unless it is state specific).
Man, you got this out quick. I'm the one that sent in the tip. Glad to see it's not junk. I've been loving HF recently.
Haha, thanks! Always a fun day of discovery
Competition is always a great driver of innovation, so I say bring it on. Leatherman seems to need a swift kick to the nuts as of late.
The fact they haven’t released a new squirt model is ridiculous since there is no dominate one in that size in the market that many want.
Generally I agree. It does encourage offshoring manufacturing.
I agree with @Exane22 and @Jaspel. Leatherman does need a swift kick in the nuts; and I’m always concerned that the innovative may only be on how to access cheep labor around the world. Also I secretly love Harbor Freight. Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds?
@@BrandonGavin_EDC I want a Squirt PS4 in its exact form (maybe add a tweezers and possibly a screwdriver in lieu of the file) but about 25% larger and more robust.
@@dougr.6734 exactly! I want those scissors like the Roxon mini’s have.
The guys at Harbor Freight have been bringing it lately. They are tapped into the market and clearly understand how to write the specs for the OEM.
They made a big gamble on their business model like 10 years ago and it’s working beautifully. Their tool quality and reliability has improved almost across the board, they’re effectively managing their costs, and they’re relying on word of mouth for marketing. Some of their tools are better than anything in the big box stores, and at half the price. Eric Smidt is a legit genius.
@@MustSeeInside You are spot on. It's been transformative in the tool business.
yeah, its called THEFT of intellectual property. communist chinese are experts at it. stop supporting them by buying at Harbor Freight
Harbor Freight is moving up like the Jeffersons 😉💯.
I’m a field service mechanic and there’s a ton of Harbor Freight stuff on my truck. From flashlights to sockets to specialty diagnostic equipment, they really have come up in the world.
Leatherman’s pricing has been out of control for a while now. Hopefully this brings them back to earth. $32 for that tiny bit kit is ridiculous.
It costs money to make products in America. Part of that is stifling taxes, regulation and lawsuit lotto.
@@BeefT-Sq yep. It's hard to beat China when they decide to actually engage quality control with their slave labor costs.
@@BeefT-Sq true but machines do the heavy work. Leatherman's profit margin is still HUGE and they refuse to innovate or add what their fans want to their tools. Normally I wouldn't like companies copying others but due to the way Leatherman behaves I really don't care. That said I love the wave
If you are an inside track member, Harbor freight has a 20% off any item no exclusions in store coupon going on for memorial day weekend. It makes this $32 - same price as the LM bit kit, lol!
Nice video. I bought a leatherman wave with a leather case that came with it back in 1994. It costs me a little over 40 bucks at Wal-Mart. I still have it. I use it just about every day at work. It has not broken or has any pieces missing or chipped. I am proud to have one that lasted me this long. Waves are hard to beat.
Yup, my wife got me one in '97, still mostly works as it did day one.
I've had to replace bits, and the wire cutter is a tad chipped up, but it is still a great functional tool that is used near every day.
Iv got a brand new wave in package still. It was the hundred plus dollar one from 10 to 15 years ago. I collect knives.
So I'm 50 yrs old. If I bought a wave now, it would very likely be an heirloom. Wow. I remember my grandpa buying a car. He said he got a nicer one than usual because it was the last one he would buy. He was right.
@papageo5
Yes. It's crazy how prices have changed.
I’ll keep doing business with Leathermen. They have done alright by me over the years. Whenever I need my Supertool 300 tuned up, it has always been done for free and promptly shipped back to me.
It sounds like me with my old Buck knives, lol.
Quality products with top-notch customer service will always win out with me
agreed, I have broken the pliers before, they sent me a brand new tool, I still own a supertoll from the 90's.
If Harbor Freight makes a leatherman style bit kit, I will buy them both.
And if their clone bits are sturdier than leatherman's, it will be absolutely hilarious.
I've been hesitating on buying a Surge or Wave but really want something bigger than my SOG Powerpint. Got a HF 5 mins down the road so I'll be picking one of these up. Thanks for staying informed on the industry, because it probably would have been months till I even saw this thing otherwise.
Just picked one up and wow you weren’t lying pretty good for 40$!! Pleasantly surprised
Awesome! I would love to see Harbor Freight come out with a complete set of bits, a ratchet, and a Surge clone! Leatherman needs to wake up!
I have the Rocktol Surge clone and the SQT Charge TTI plus clone and man they are impressive!
I have a lot of Leatherman multi-tools but I have to agree Leatherman needs to wake up....the thing is, people complaining about the prices of the Leatherman tools, keep in mind many of them and the components are made in Oregon in the US...VS other countries that you are buying from on the Clones, so certainly a Cloned version made in China is gonna be a lot cheaper than the same brand name multi-tool made in the US....However, Leatherman has kind of gotten behind in the terms on innovation and new stuff...they keep coming out with new colors of their tools...in reality who gives a damn, how about some new tools to get the interest of potential new customers or repeat customers rather than worrying about how many colors of a multi-tool you can make, that all scrapes off after a few uses anyhow.
Harbor freight has stepped up their game on a lot of things lately. For instance, floor jacks and winches compete with the big name brands
I just bought a cordless Hercules compact impact wrench that boasts 500 ft lbs of nut loosening ability. I had a blade stuck on my rider deck that I couldn't get off. It had picked up a piece of wire and wrapped around the shaft which wedged against the nut. I had the front of the rider on a jack and only had 10 inches from floor to nut. Anyhow I got the tool for free by buying the charger and 5 a/h battery for $99.98, plus tax. Has better specs than dewalt stubby. Both brands are 6 inches from back to tip of anvil. I got some stubby impact sockets so I can get this thing in more places (they were $39.99 for metric). The tool has 3 speeds and auto and jolted the stuck nut off. The dewalt bare tool was $168 with a 2 day wait from Amazoid. HF is 8 miles from my home and had it all in stock so I could finish the job the same afternoon.
I just bought one from my local store, wasn't even on the shelf yet. The employee went to the back room, opened the package, and handed me the first one. I opened the package and checked it out as soon as I got in the car and the multi-tool was just as described. This is my new daily carry for sure. Thank you for the content, sir.
Just picked this multi tool up today after watching your video this morning. I’ve had a Leatherman Wingman for years, and always wanted a Wave but not at that price point. I am blown away by how nicely made this Gordon tool is, for $40 it’s an absolute steal!
F the clone. Spend the extra dough and jump past the Wave to a Charge and thank me later for the advice
@@dualsportedc Found the guy who’s paid by Leatherman 🤣
@@MCmotoUSA I don't even do reviews anymore. Haven't in 2 years and actually deleted all my review videos. I never even got big enough to get sponsors. I just really hate clones, regardless of whose designs they rip off. My primary multitool is also a Victorinox Swiss Tool and I hated the Leatherman Arc so much that I sold it a week after buying it because the cutters cut on even easier wire than a coat hanger, the frame flexed like an Ozark Trail, and the "Magnacut" didn't hold an edge worth a damn. Also, my favorite Leatherman model is actually the Surge, which I pair with a Victorinox Farmer x
This will be my next multi tool purchase without a doubt. For the price its def a no-brainer.
I've been waiting for something like this. Thanks Dominic.
It’s crazy how similar these two are. It even has the hidden lanyard under the saw just like the wave! Great video I picked this up right after watching this video! Now I’m looking on how to add a fero rod
Hopefully they will do a surge version!
Leathermans B.S. with the ratchets impossible to get and garage scams have pushed me away from them.
Some people have been claiming this has a lifetime warranty due to a typo. It does not. It's 90 days as per the product page and as per all other Gordon products.
Hey it's Red! My kids miss the bear FYI....
Waiting for the bits from HF.
You could look into a Leatherman style bit extender for 1/4" bits. That way if you already have the bits you just need the extender. It's better anyway.
@@JoshuaHargraveThat's what I was thinking. And the extension bar having a flat end/bottom might be held in better by the magnet than the bits?
@@billybunter3753 Absolutely! The Dreyoo is $12 on Amazon right now. Could be a good fit.
I got a standard, cheap bit extender and filed it to fit the wave.
What a impressive Leatherman wave clone wow
I’m loving this. I go regularly to HF and always wished they would distribute some of the clones one sees in Amazon or Aliexpress but this went much further. 😊
Bought mine today because of this video... love it. It's on my belt.
I just got this I have a handful of Leatherman multi tools. This right up there with them. the good quality is outstanding. I was very surprised.
Always wanted a Leatherman wave. lookin forward to grabbing a Gordon 20 in 1 for $80 less.
And the communist Chinese will thank you.
I brought my Harbor Freight Leatherman Gordon multi tool yesterday and I love it 😉👍.
Walmart/Ozark Trail has a $40 one that I used for years before losing it. I was impressed.
I gave the ozark one a chance and the plier head snapped the first time I used it 😂. I went and bought a wave. I love hf but I’d be scared of the same thing happening to this one in the video.
Harbor frights better quality than walmart.
When they released the bearing 8cr knife I knew they were approaching.
This is awesome!
I will absolutely have to pick one of these up. And thanks to your other commenters, online rather than in person. Thanks for the tip!
Well thanks to this video i picked up 2 this weekend.
Very impressed, excellent product for the price!
Thank you so much for the heads up!
The plyers on my multi tool is the Go To 80% of the time, I need to grab or twist things many days and this does it. The next item used is the Phillips head and lock up on this is needed, I have had non lock up collapse, no good. Good review, appreciate it.
My local Harbor Freight didn't have it. There's another store a little further south that supposedly did. I went down there, but the guy had no idea what I was talking about until I showed him online. Turns out they had some in the back. They hadn't even put them out yet.
Just purchased mine about an hour ago with the 20% coupon. I collect tools for fun and I bought it cuz there are a lot of folks online that are raving about this tool. Figured I will have use for this in the future.
I've never had a leatherman, always Gerber lol just because that's what we were always issued in the army for us mechanic's
Picked one up the other day! Loving it so far!
Thank you!! Picking one up tomorrow!
Just got into multitools. Saw your roxon prototype vid and had to sub after this vid. Great stuff dude!
Just ran out and got one on lunch. They didn't even have them out for sale yet. But brought me one from the back. I can't believe how similar they are. Great quality and It even has the hidden loop for a rope knot pull ./tether. .
I wasn't quite sure of the quality but this video sealed the deal for me! Going to have to pick one up.
Loved it!
Well done, Sir!
Am in need of the tool. This review is perfect for my purchase at my favorite store.
I will certainly be purchasing one of these. Great review!
Thanks!
As a big leatherman fan I have to say that I am tired of them being stolen on site. An alternative that does what I need and can be abused without you being worried about damaging something expensive, well for me, I’m happy that there are working mens tools coming into the market.
Yeah my crunch has gotten swiped a ton. I stopped showing it off, it’s a damn cool tool.
@@lindboknifeandtool Those things are damn expensive too. Price has doubled on them since I bought mine 10 years ago. I have quite a collection of Leatherman Multi-tools and a few of their knives...quite a few of the tools I have though are discontinued models though.
Stopped bringing my leathermen to work because people kept coming to use it
they come out with the bits and i will buy it in a heart beat
Thanks for the review. I’m going to get one for my fishing box.
That's an ideal survival multi-tool, and the magnet might be useful to magnetize a needle for a makeshift compass. An auger/awl would be great.
Thanks for the video, I'm liking this one a bunch 👍
I got my first wave in the mid 90's. I carry one nearly every waking hour and not a day goes by I'm not using it for something. In 2005 I used the screwdriver for a pry bar and snapped it. Sent it to Leatherman and even told them what I'd done. They didn't have the exact parts so they had to replace it, no questions asked. Lets see how this $40 wonder does after 20 years. If it's still in use I'll be impressed.
Not thinking that's what they are going for. Power tools I use daily or at least weekly are Makita. My impact wrench is Hercules. I use it for mechanical work here and there when I'm away from my compressor. I'd use a tool like this but not every day... I'd toss one in my glove box at 40 bucks though
I'm impressed I'm going to have to go grab a few of these
Thanks to your video I took advantage of the 10% off Memorial Day sale at Harbor Freight. Since the Gordon mutitool is a new product the staff didn't know where it was in the store. Lucky I came across who I would call the employee of the month and she found it 🎉. Cheers to you Dominic for being on top of this great find!
Thanks to your video, I just ran to HF to get one. It was not on the shelf yet. Cashier went into the back and got one for me. I used the online coupon and got $4 off. After I paid, the cashier told me it has a lifetime warranty. Thanks for the heads up! Great review!
Thank you for this review!
I picked one of these up yesterday thanks to your video and I have to say, not only am I impressed, but the main blade was hair-shaving sharp right out of the box, which is much more than I can say about the leatherman skeletool CX I got for father's day.
I love this I’m gonna pick one up the next time they send out a coupon. I went and got the multi force after your review and absolutely loved it and carried it daily over my wingman until I lost it at work. Love the reviews man keep it up
Thanks for the review. I went out and bought one immediately
Excellent breakdown, what I WISH I could find was a LM Crunch replacement
just picked one up at my local harbor freight! I think its an awesome multitool! great alternative to a leatherman.. i only wish they would have to done a regular 1/4 bit set with these as well!
I need to get one of these before the price goes up. Thats a killer deal.
The gut hook is a nice addition (especially if you use it as intended, ie, a gut hook for field dressing animals).
Just ordered one. Thanks.
I live two blocks from a Harbor Freight. Since I need a proper multitool and don't own one, I will definitely be going with this Gordon Multitool.
I like it. It has a smooth knife blade
Looks like a great budget multi tool .Love both my old and new style wave and always have it on my belt. I have been wanting to pick up a Arc but have not been able to justify the $229.00 price and the fact that it is never on sale for less anywhere.
I'm going to have to make a trip to Harbor Freight. Thanks
Was watching this , called HF they informed me they had 2 left, jumped upput my shoes on and drove 5 minutes. Hahaha i shoukd have ought all they had and sold them to my work buddies!!!
Great comparison. Looks like I am going to Harbor Freight. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
The mods are endless might put a real leatherman head on this… they should have done an ICON grade model of this!!! With d2 steel
I dunno, I think D2 would be a mistake. Not that many people actually daily drive their multi tools. They're usually left in a bag, box or glove compartment until needed. And, if others are like me, I use my multi tool blade for stuff I don't want to use my pocket knife on and it doesn't get the care and attention it should. D2 could easily rust whilst left.
I think an 8cr multi tool blade would be great. Stainless, easy to sharpen, and handles neglect well.
@@andrewdarowski1975 I personally do use my G10 Charge+ w/ the S30v blade as my primary blade maybe 30% of the time, although I don't see most people with a multitool in their edc and an 8cr makes so much more sense in a cost to performance ratio for this kind of thing so I mostly agree. I'm planning on picking one up to swap out the suspension nxt in my truck because I hate that piece of crap (tools are loose and trying to tighten pivots didn't help, blade always flops out, very flexy frame leads to poor plier performance).
@@NiSE_Rafter I want a Skeletool Cx for EDC, but, I have a feeling that they'll release magnacut skeletool soon because it seems too logical not to.
@@andrewdarowski1975 that means it won't happen... It makes too much sense
Harbor Freight has a "no exclusions" 10% off coupon for this weekend too! I am gonna go grab one. I bought a Bibury Surge clone recently but theres no belt clip and I love the clip on my Surge.
Just like Icon and Snapon. I’m buying one.
Wow lots of bronze washers I like that my Leatherman surge is similar to the wave impressive Harbor Freight
Ole HF stepping up their game!!
I ran over to my HF and bought one. It’s a fun tool set and there was a member sale today
I really wish it had the regular universal size but driver like the Bibury does! Simply makes a thousand time more sense for easy access and replacement of bits!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I have every bit I need would be nice to swap around
Been waiting for a HF multitool
Very good review, Thank You..
bought last one at my local HF. VERY IMPRESSED by quality and features. this puts Leatherman pricing insanity in proper context. And i hope HF develops a line of multitools of this quality. i'll buy at least one of each :)
Awesome! Gotta get me one.
awesome - picking one up soon
Love it. Love that it takes the bits. I love the bit system. Leatherman seems to be closing down their systems and tools so I'll take this any day. Also, you can buy an extended warranty on just about anything at Harbor Freight for $5-10
Hmm, I need to ask this
@@maxlvledc they usually offer 1-2 year warranties. On some things I think they might be longer.
just bought it, it seems solid
the workers didnt even know about it lol
Low key have the best looking packaging at harbor freight too.
Might have to pick one of these up. I typically lean towards light EDC. Have a Gerber arm bar that I love because of the full hex bit compatibility. I just don't use most of the tools on my full size multis
Wow thanks for the video….this is a GREAT tool at any price and for $40 it’s a steal!! Such high quality. The bronze washers make it so smooth to use vs my Ozark trail or Leatherman.
If they come out with the flat bit kit…. I’ll buy it to use on my Waves. This is a surprisingly good tool. Of course, since it copies what is also a good tool. Which tracks.
Hell yeah! I own a couple legit leathermans but this is perfect as something to keep in my backpacks and truck where I can also hand over to someone without minding too much if they lose it. Being able to pop in-out of harbor freight if something breaks means a lot more to me than the same warranty off of something on amazon. I hope they sell the bit kit too.
That's a good deal online as mentioned previously. I love my Bibury 31-1 wave clone though. The 4mm bit driver is pretty nice. No pocket clip though.
Wow a identical Leatherman bit driver with identical bit
The deep pocket clip compared to the Multiforce or the Leatherman is really nice. Keeps the tool completely in your pocket. And it comes very sharp which is appreciated.
Really happy with my SOG Powerpint.
I picked one up today after seeing your video, I am impressed with it, felt it has better fit and finish than the Wave. But handles has a bit more flex in closed position, I think is caused by the added washers between frame and pliers head. Thanks for sharing.
I already have a couple Gerber multi tools and don't need more but because of your video I'm gonna have to go buy this at HF.
Impressive clone! Good review!
Walmart has a great mini, multi-tool in the camping and fishing dept. Around 10 bucks.
I still have my original Leatherman. Haven't been able to justify the cash for new ones. Going to try this.
Good to see. I broke a needle nose tip on my Wave and havent bothered to replace it cause they are now like a hundred bucks or more and the rest of the tool is basically brand new.. but since I mainly only use the needle nose, scissors and bits, i never carry it anymore.. but for 40$ I'll give this a shot!
(a skeletool with scissors, some bits, and maybe a saw blade would be my perfect multitool)..
Nice pocket clip!
Harbor Freight is a really neat store. You should do a budget guide just on Harbor Freight.
Another deal, another like. A big work friend.
Great review
