A good looking car. Not every JDM import has to be a GT-R. If it's fun to drive, then it's worth it. I once heard these described as Japan's Mustang.

In that they are over hyped and not very fast? Yeah. Most R32s were written off a long time ago in Australia. Or at least the RB20 blew up.

And even better If you put an RB30 with an RB25/26 head, add the twin turbo system with an LSD diff, and you get all the power to the rear wheels, without the weight and understeer of the Attesa AWD system in the GTR.

I remember reading about Skylines in car magazines then being surprised to see them on my trips to Australia in 1999 and 2002.
I also saw Holden Monaro’s which became in the US Pontiac GTO. They had a variation of the Ford Festiva’s there which were 4 door with about a 4” longer wheelbase. They also sold Mustang Cobra’s there but they were very expensive because of the conversion to LH drive.

Ah I just love the old carpeting around the interior even the ceiling. This is what I miss on newer cars. Today everything has to be leather (or just plastic door cards one black piece). Yes leather looks also nice but I just prefer wool/fabric.

As someone who has ridden and driven my cousins HNR32 GTS-4 4 Door, the rear seats still don’t have a ton of space for the average modern American. But the way the car makes you feel when driving is definitely different than anything else. My daily driver is a G37 sedan which is basically the spiritual successor to this car. You can definitely feel the similarities of the vehicles, but the R32 has always felt more nimble as it isn’t nearly as large or heavy. The R32 having the ATTESA system unlike my G37 helps a lot too. It’s not the fastest car, but the attention it gets is cool, the sounds of the RB20 with its unmistakable exhaust note, the intoxicating turbo noise, and the high level of confidence I have in each curve and bend make it an absolute blast to drive.

here's one you probably didn't know existed: the Toyota Corolla Levin and Trueno (AE101, JDM), in GT-Apex and GT-Z trims, had a rear wiper, i had one myself before i got my RX-8. Pretty obscure JDM car, running a 20V variant of the 4AGE (gt-Apex, GT trims only. GT-Z got a 16v S/c engine.) I loved having that rear wiper. Made seeing behind me in the rain wonderful. I miss that car. Maybe one day i'll find a much neater example than what i had, maybe find a supercharged one.

I didn't know these had a really, really small inline-6! I thought they were 4-cylinders. These became popular in Canada about 10 years ago (due to the import law) but aren't around anymore. It's more common to see R34 generation Skylines in Canada.

I own an extremely similar car, an 89 GTS-T with the type M package. The video's car (currently for sale on Marketplace in northern IL) is a bit nicer and a bit closer to stock, although mine has GT-R seats which are far more supportive. Bought mine in 12/2019 in South Bend, Indiana. And yes, mine still has the working rear wiper that most people delete. Fun fact, it somehow weights just 2800 lbs (ie: 700 lbs less than a MK3 Supra), for what is basically a sporty version of a family sedan. No idea how they did it.
215 HP has to be viewed through the context of an engine that came out in 1986, in the R31 gen. The MK6 GTi (also a 2.0T) makes identical power despite being decades newer. I've owned a 300ZX with the VG30, that was 160 hp and the JDM version with the 2.0T V6 made about the same. Few cars made over 200 HP before the late 80s. Thus, the RBs have a reputation for being a bit temperamental and high stress, the cooling system in particular can struggle. There was a version of the GTS-T called the GTS-4 which was AWD with the same engine.
It's wonderful to drive on a fun road. Short gearing (2800 RPM at 60, lol), short steering ratio, 7500 RPM redline, loads of grip with 17s, good amount of power for how light it is, etc. I'm also blown away at how modern it feels compared to similar cars I've owned (Z31, FC rx7), it doesn't feel like it's 34 years old. There was a version of the GTS-T called the GTS-4 which was AWD with the same engine. I'm considering selling it for a JZX90/100, but maybe not.

???? Zach, the R32 sedan and R32 Coupe have the same wheelbase and the same roof height and the same amount of space in them. The R32 sedan is absurdly small. There is no room for a person to sit behind the driver. It's a 3 seater. Are you sure you're not remembering the R33?
