And since they both hit crazy hard the burst they get at end of chain attacks is NUTTY. I did 3.5 mil to the final boss with it, and I wasn't even maxed out on them
@Jstar338 I hit 4.5 mil with burst against the Darbus superboss (who I may have killed prior to the final boss because I didn't realize he was supposed to be one of the superbosses). Rex is absolutely hilarious and I can't get enough of it
I abused Matthew the whole time because im vanilla as hell. I had rex maxed out with skills, arts and gems. This guy died so many times because stole aggro, but damage he did. And that was the AI rex doing that. My word this man is cracked
The fact AI Rex still outputs the insane damage is truly a testament to how busted he is. Crossette, Infini-crit Mythra, and Corvin would all be proud of him, if they could see his fighting. (Mythra would be proud, but wouldn't admit it.)
Rex grew up into the chad we knew he would become. He’s honestly amazing in Future Connected, and I’m not just talking about Double Spinning Edge spam! He’s got a good relationship with Glimmer, amazing chemistry with Shulk and has his fair share of reminiscing events in XC2 like Shulk does for most of his side content. He’s definitely one the GOAT Xenoblade characters.

I love how the devs put in a reference to everyone in xc2 finding out how you can just spam double spinning edge with mythra and just endlessly going to town. I also love the battle music that he brings to the main game from xc 2
It's so cool to see Rex be so strong. Kind of wish we could see your reaction on certain parts of the story. Gems...I still need to max the gems in the base game and now I have more to worry about.
A tip for maxing out gems in the base game; I highly recommend limiting your gem selection to the ones you feel are absolutely necessary. This will greatly lower the amount of mats you need to grind. I went with Brimming Spirit, Steelcleaver, Accurate Grace, Pinpoint Weakness, Soothing Breath, Lifesaving Expertise, Swelling Blessing, Refined Blessing, Doublestrike, Empowered Combo, and Disperse Bloodlust. For party setup, I went used one break user (I used Yumsmith, but Ogre works just as well), and five Troubadours with the master arts Solid Stance, Myopic Screen, and Shield Bash. Everyone is equipped with Fraternal Badge, Shield Belt, and Carbon Gauntlets. For gems, they had Lifesaving Expertise, Soothing Breath, and Accurate Grace. The idea is to have an extremely long and drawn out fight that is very safe so you can get as many bursts as possible with little effort on your part. The ai will pretty much handle themselves, so you just need to focus on grabbing the drops. I apologize for the wall of text, but I hope this helps!
@@conorb.1901 I accomplished something similar with everyone as a healer soulhacker with the full burst combo and some setup to keep everyone alive indefinitely.
Guide to making Rex broken: use Rex. Honestly though I’ve been playing on hard and there have been multiple occasions where a tough fight was wiping me out and the simple act of just controlling Rex the whole fight made it no problem.
Dead###, I went to do an Archsage Gauntlet run and the game CRASHED after exactly one fight after I picked him in the shop. I definitely saw that boi spamming DSE, and i like to think that he did so much damage to a dead enemy that it underflowed to live again after it was already dead.
You know a guy is broken when his primary downside is that he's too damn good at his job. He always keeps going down because he keeps pulling aggro, and Nikol and Shulk have no hope in hell of keeping up. Additionally, I freaking love that Rex can pull of almost the entire Driver Combo by himself with Rolling Shot and Dual Blast, only needing some help for the finisher, since all characters do. Not only this, but you can launch enemies entirely for free. This absolutely trivializes regular enemy encounters, as long as you get proper positioning. And not only is the Rex/Glimmer combo one of the best (both from a thematic and gameplay perspective), but it's one of the few Unity setup upgrades that you're given FOR FREE. The game literally *told* me to use this man to break it. Don't mind if I do.
How to Rex in a Nutshell Basically Step 1: Invest in Critical Hit Rate Bonuses in Rex's Affnity Growth Step 2: Optimize the Unity Skill 🌟Divine Blades Step 3: DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE!
Nice guide Enel! Rex is 100% the best character in Future Redeemed, and it's crazy cause Mathew is already a great attacker, but Rex just manages to be the most broken in the whole game lol. I do wish there were better ways to avoid getting aggroed, but like you said, not much you can do about it. Really curious to see what you say about the tanks in the game, cause I've been trying to make them work, but it doesn't seem like they're that good even if you take Rex out of the equation. Looking forward to future guides on the other characters!
as much as I'm glad to see Rex and Shulk, i still wish that Panacea and Linka could have been heroes or have any real importance in the plot, especially knowing that they are the daughters of Rein/Sharla and Zeke/Pandoria respectively.
Glimmer and Rex have really high synergy. Right now, I'm on the fence on whether to control Glimmer or Rex. Cause you can set Glimmer to have like 3 attack rings up at once if you control her. I'd like to hear controlling which gets more damage.
@@AstralMuffin105 if you fusion the arts right she will also give a 2nd damage buff with that crit art. Meaning you can stack 4 raw attack ups at once.
I love how A works, and while Rex is super fun, I like using her one-use Talent Art to say "fuck you" to all damage for like 20 seconds, for the entire team. She would be as busted as Rex if she got to do it more than once.
For those who are actually doing the quests, the Accessory Shop gets an inventory upgrade that includes the Ceramic Belt. It is the upgraded form of the Silver Belt mentioned in this video. If you HAVE to buy an accessory, you might as well go with the best.
I didn't think they would make a character that was super broken in the DLC because we would all just focus on that character. Lo and behold, even from a casual perspective, Rex just outclasses everyone by a MILE! XC2 supremacy is real
I’ll be honest, kinda disappointed you didn’t close the game after the intro and open Xenoblade 2 and give a “I don’t know why you guys want a guide on this though, this game is like 6 years old” and then for the Shulk guide do the same thing except hovering over Definitive Edition before opening Xenoblade 2 again and showing blade Shulk in the land of challenge. Anyways, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk about how to backseat content creation.
I love how his skills repeatedly reference and make use of Pyra and Mythra's powers. It's like they're still with him in spirit even though they're physically separated.
It was really funny playing through Xenoblade 2, not understanding a god damn thing about the inner workings and optimization of the game, getting to the final boss and seeing "oh hey if I use Double Spinning Edge it recharges my arts so I'll spam that until I win." And now years later, playing the Xenoblade 3 DLC, getting to understand the way the combat works a little bit better and... doing the exact same thing.
He was throwing out way bigger damage numbers than anyone else when i got him. A few battles later i knew he was busted compared to everyone else. Glimmer's support aligning with his want to be a crit monster is a mean combo.
He's the strongest? On one hand its good to hear because I focused on only upgrading him because he's my favorite xenoblade character. On the other hand it's dissapointing because I was hoping the others would become as strong as him by the end and we'd have a team of badasses
Shulk one next Enel pls. Ty i love you if it wasn't for you i wouldn't finish XC1 and never go all the way through 1 2 and 3 so glad you teach me how to play so i don't drop that game 🥰
No main story spoilers, but I figured I would mention that it's possible to get a ceramic belt earlier in the game. I'm just putting it down below in case people would rather go into the game content completely blind I was able to buy the ceramic belt from the commissary, and I think I was somewhere between 30-45 (wide range, I know, but I don't remember specifically when I got it. Maybe chapter 3-ish? I haven't even finished the story yet). Getting better items from the shop was tied to a sidequest I believe. If I'm not mistaken, Peridot and Eow are the quest givers.
I hope in the future we can see Rex go full Meme / Zoro and use Nia’s sword as well. Rex’s only weakness is survivability. Because he’s just stupid here, spin to win or die (can be both). I like how obvious they decided to make how broken Rex is. Sidebar I do like how Rex seems to have picked cooking because of Pyra (he’s the source for like half of the recipe is the player gets), I don’t really have any concrete connections to Mythra or Nia’s hobbies yet.
My Rex was already basically what you showed off here, but I didn't have my Chain Attacks set up like you do. I switched to that (after putting Break Brooches on Matthew and Shulk), and was able to beat Gotthard first try afterwards! Started the chain attack before he was enraged, and got him to just a sliver of health left. Very helpful guide. The only differences with my chain attacks is that I have Matthew with the Heroic Chain of adding 10 TP to everyone else, Nikol with the Heroic Chain of not ending the order when he goes past 100%, Shulk with the 15 TP to character with highest TP, Rex with gaining 150% TP when he finishes an order, and the 7th character has the CA Charge.
Gotthard, the Ethereal is actually classed as a Superboss since the gravestone it leaves behind when killed is the special red ones which are given to Superbosses, unlike the standard Unique Monsters who leave behind the grey gravestones
I just wanted his and shulk's classes, i remember how we got shulk and fiora as blades in the second game and onestly i'm a bit dissapointed, like make a small quest where we interact with them in the archsage area , like it happened in 2
There is a quest that adds Shulk and Rex as heroes in the base game. However, the Ouroboros six CANNOT learn either of their classes! You unlock them in an Archsage challenge where you fight them both.
@@neliros yeah that was my inital thought too but he says it again to A before they fade, he says "if those two were here they wouldnt mind" and the way they were in quotations felt like it was aimed at Pyra/Myrtha but it could have been the others
In the Spanish translation, he specifically refers to "ellas dos" (female pronoun), so I also thought it was Pyra and Mythra. Might be a localization error, though, it's hard to check. The Japanese text doesn't specify gender.
Your guides are the bomb man. I tried to kill Gotthard with the character setup I used for main story because it did well, but apparently it was mehmeh for bosses as I failed soon after Gotthard got enraged. Then I watched your videos how to setup each character, changed gems + accessories (not optimally, I don't have some of them yet) and adjusted Arts fusions. Went to try Gotthard again, and boom, dead. Tearing him down was much faster, and when he had over 30% HP left when I started a chain attack, got him launched during it and finished off with unity combo on Amazing grade (again, thanks to your tip to slap Strategy manual 3 on A). Time to grind some EXP and go on to next bosses. Thanks for these videos! Also, Double Spinning Edge goes brrrr
The fact that Rex is LITERALLY just exactly the same as he is in Xenoblade 2, but STRONGER is so funny, they looked at the double spinning edge spam in 2 and were like “pshhhhh, amatures”
Part of the setup i had going into a lot of the superbosses was the Heroic Chain accessory on Rex that made it so he added 50% to the damage ratio every time he takes part in a Chain Order, since i wanted to be using him each round anyway. Assuming you can keep getting him back (which isn't hard in FD's chain attacks), thats a free extra 250% damage ratio, which _adds up_
Monolith: Makes debuffs weak because they’re scared of the potential damage that might happen when you get rid of their defences. Also Monolith: Make Rex and Noah capable of ignoring defences.
A bit late (took me a while to start Future Redeemed), but thanks for these guides as always. I'm happy to say that this guy actually didn't "help" me that much since because of your previous XC3 guides, I was already doing pretty much this with Rex. Feels good to know I was in the right track (contrary to when I first learned from you how much Sharla sucked in XC1).
Really love how they mechanically just brought back Mythra, who was already cracked, and made him even more cracked. Plus Rex's own arts returning from 2 like DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE
My Rex build: - Mercurii Rings - Thermo Headgear These accessories provide 100% Critical Rate so his attacks will always ignore the enemy defense. - Fiber Wraps - Tactics Manual, vol. 15 to increase the critical damage by 150% in Chain Attack. It causes an insane amount of damage to launched enemies when combined with Strategy Manual, vol. 8 (Shulk) and Tactics Manual, vol. 3 (Glimmer) in Chain Attack. What they did to Rex is unreal.
Excellent as always, Enel! It's fascinating to know Disperse Bloodlust doesn't make that much of a difference - I've only got one gem slot unlocked, and had been wondering if DP would help with aggro. Turns out Rex is too overpowered, good for him! ETA: Also forgot to mention I didn't realize/missed different arts assigned together would create different fusions. I had noticed my Rex had Break, but it hadn't clicked add to why. So many great options with the new additions to combat in the DLC.

If that wasn't considered a debuff then shulk could draw aggro with monado rage and actually help the party a lot. As is now he is the worst party member in the game. Also who played shulk and only spammed monado armor? Why weren't you abusing monado eater and buster? Shulk was better as a damage dealer/support unit than going pure support even in his games.
They made him a combination of Mythra and Fiora in XC2, which is super cool. It's cool on how broken he is compared to the rest of the balanced roster.
Rex is broken but defenders in general suck in xb3.
I appriciate that the game just decided to make all the characters support and setup for Rex…and it makes absolute logical sense in lore and the plot.
Been jamming with Shulk and he’s been a blast and hard carrying me, can’t wait for his video!
The whole party was pretty strong for the most part (rip Nikol, he never stood a chance) and then there's Rex, who's just... nonsensical. The only downside is that he'll take aggro and die. That's it. Makes target lock actually useful though
Makes me happy to know that Glimmer's unity skill with her dad also happens to be the most powerful and beneficial. I immediately swapped to it when I was given the chance and never looked back
And since they both hit crazy hard the burst they get at end of chain attacks is NUTTY. I did 3.5 mil to the final boss with it, and I wasn't even maxed out on them
Wait a minute... HIS dad?
@Jstar338 I hit 4.5 mil with burst against the Darbus superboss (who I may have killed prior to the final boss because I didn't realize he was supposed to be one of the superbosses). Rex is absolutely hilarious and I can't get enough of it
Glimmer's a girl
@@YoshiAteTooManyYoshiCookies oops, lemme fix that
I abused Matthew the whole time because im vanilla as hell.
@@PaulZeroSolis Mythra would probably smack him for stealing the show 😅
@@neliros Indeed. But also still be (silently) proud of him for growing up and becoming busted strong.
Getting to cancel Double Spinning Edge into Double Spinning Edge twenty times in a row was such a huge nostalgia hit
Rex being this powerful just fills me with....meme making potential...I already made one yesterday and can think of another I want to make. I need more!!!!
I love how the devs put in a reference to everyone in xc2 finding out how you can just spam double spinning edge with mythra and just endlessly going to town. I also love the battle music that he brings to the main game from xc 2
Rex is called the Master Driver for a reason.
@Dman25 I was using Soulhackers at first, but then swapped to troubadour for the lower attack stat. Both work perfectly fine though
Rex is so strong that my tanks can’t keep agro making him die way to much which is fun at times
Not only did they bring Rex back they made him the best character to play as as a xc2 fan I’m winning
Guide to Making Rex Broken, he does that just existing.
Great guide Enel. Thanks man for the endless hours you spend helping the Xenoblade community. It doesn’t go unnoticed and is appreciated.
18:10 poor Matthew. Keeps getting mistaken for his greatgranddad 😂 Great guide Enel, thank you!
Thanks for this, been looking for the recipe to maximize his crit since realizing he's broken and your guide is as perfectly timed as ever
Someone asked if Future Redeemed had any superbosses, and I told her Rex, but only enemies get to fight him
The Chad to end all Chad's
The dad to end all Dad's
The swordsman to end all Swordsman
The badass to end all Badasses
Rex truly is the End All Be All
How to Rex
in a Nutshell Basically
Step 1: Invest in Critical Hit Rate Bonuses in Rex's Affnity Growth
Step 2: Optimize the Unity Skill
🌟Divine Blades
Step 3: DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE!
Step 4: Repeat step 3 until everything is dead
I love how he's so strong that the way to solve the aggro problem is to just let the healers revive you
You can use an accessory which increases your evasion by 22% while using arts. Since Rex can spam DSE, you might evade attaacks half the time.
Looking forward to future guides on the other characters!
as much as I'm glad to see Rex and Shulk, i still wish that Panacea and Linka could have been heroes or have any real importance in the plot, especially knowing that they are the daughters of Rein/Sharla and Zeke/Pandoria respectively.
them fighting in cutscenes and being guests from the moment you see them until the final fight, REALLY feels like cut content
@julien827 It'd have honestly been really cool if the two were post-game, and either replaced Rex and Shulk, or could just be used afterwards.
Fantastic video as usual! I eagerly anticipate your guide for Shulk since I'm also finding the tanks underwhelming lol
Glimmer and Rex have really high synergy. Right now, I'm on the fence on whether to control Glimmer or Rex. Cause you can set Glimmer to have like 3 attack rings up at once if you control her. I'd like to hear controlling which gets more damage.
Plus one of her Ouroborus arts puts down a Crit boost, which is a huge help, especially for Rex.
@@AstralMuffin105 if you fusion the arts right she will also give a 2nd damage buff with that crit art. Meaning you can stack 4 raw attack ups at once.
11:49 you get ceramic belts (30% attack) from the supply place you get the silver belts from after a quest in colony 9
I knew Rex was a bit broken but I didn’t realize he was this broken.
Great guide Enel, looking forward to the rest.
Imagine how powerful Rex would be if He still had the Aegis (or even a Pnuema with max trust)
Bro pulls out the sword, doesn’t swing, and still kills everything.
That's why Alvis is a heartless machine
I have been waiting for these guides. Thanks Enel.
Rex and A are just an absolute blast to play.
I love how A works, and while Rex is super fun, I like using her one-use Talent Art to say "fuck you" to all damage for like 20 seconds, for the entire team. She would be as busted as Rex if she got to do it more than once.
Can't she do it twice when you've fully upgraded her talent art? I think it's 15s for each.
14:25 Another bonus of this unity pair is the father-daughter bonding aspect.
For those who are actually doing the quests, the Accessory Shop gets an inventory upgrade that includes the Ceramic Belt. It is the upgraded form of the Silver Belt mentioned in this video. If you HAVE to buy an accessory, you might as well go with the best.
New Xenoblade content, so you know its time for Enel to come out with the amazing videos.
I didn't think they would make a character that was super broken in the DLC because we would all just focus on that character. Lo and behold, even from a casual perspective, Rex just outclasses everyone by a MILE! XC2 supremacy is real
Yes let's go!! Rex the GOAT. Thanks for the guides Enel
DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE
Rex: But he's a badass in every sense now Edition
Rex is god ofc, I’m so happy to see my boy all grown up and destroying everything
so happy to see new content like this, both the new game content and the new videos
It was really funny playing through Xenoblade 2, not understanding a god damn thing about the inner workings and optimization of the game, getting to the final boss and seeing "oh hey if I use Double Spinning Edge it recharges my arts so I'll spam that until I win."
And now years later, playing the Xenoblade 3 DLC, getting to understand the way the combat works a little bit better and... doing the exact same thing.
Thank you so much Enel. You are the best Xenoblade player in the entire multiverse. And handsome.
So glad these are back! No way am I smart enough to fully spec out my team on my own lol. Thank you for doing God’s work, Enel 👍
No main story spoilers, but I figured I would mention that it's possible to get a ceramic belt earlier in the game. I'm just putting it down below in case people would rather go into the game content completely blind
I was able to buy the ceramic belt from the commissary, and I think I was somewhere between 30-45 (wide range, I know, but I don't remember specifically when I got it.
[Muffled Malos screams of annoyance from the afterlife]
This is what a true Harem End chad looks like.
I cannot wait for the Shulk guide
Hell of a glow up for Double Spinning Edge, that's for sure.
@@goofusmaximus1482
It’s not a quest- it’s a challenge battle
I loved how in the final fight he mentions "if only those two were here" implying Pyra and Mythra could turn the tide of the fight with Alpha
I thought he was talking about Pneuma and Logos because then doesn’t it cut to Matthew’s fists and N’s sword?
Of Course you had to Start with the GigaChad of Xenoblade
Rex really just says I'm not just the Master Driver I'm the Super Legendary Master Driver 😂😂😂😂.
Assuming you can keep getting him back (which isn't hard in FD's chain attacks), thats a free extra 250% damage ratio, which _adds up_
There’s a reason why DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE was trending on Twitter.
Is that Eunie I see behind Rex in the thumbnail?
Monolith: Makes debuffs weak because they’re scared of the potential damage that might happen when you get rid of their defences.
Also Monolith: Make Rex and Noah capable of ignoring defences.
HE DESERVES THIS GLORY!
Ah yes the "pimp god" of the franchise
My boi Rex the Goat
No disrespect to Shulk of course.
THE THUMBNAIL WAS MADE
Will you do a guide on all the characters?
My Rex build:
- Mercurii Rings
- Thermo Headgear
These accessories provide 100% Critical Rate so his attacks will always ignore the enemy defense.
- Fiber Wraps
- Tactics Manual, vol.
Rex is like a blender, very sharp and painful, and constantly spinning
Excellent as always, Enel! It's fascinating to know Disperse Bloodlust doesn't make that much of a difference - I've only got one gem slot unlocked, and had been wondering if DP would help with aggro. Turns out Rex is too overpowered, good for him! ETA: Also forgot to mention I didn't realize/missed different arts assigned together would create different fusions. I had noticed my Rex had Break, but it hadn't clicked add to why. So many great options with the new additions to combat in the DLC.
DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE!
I haven't seen this video yet, but all I can say now is that so far in my playthrough, rex have become a beyblade.
Pyra and Mythra were Bae blade after all... If you don't understand whatch this comedic videos calle Sakurai designing smash Bros character
