Even back a few years ago when I first played the game, I knew he wasn't going to make it. He didn't seem to be the type to have character development to equip multiple blades. And the fact he basically seems to say, "If anything happens to me, take care of the place"
@@enzoforgets9456 for some reason I can't overdrive one of my blades back to rex after overdriving her to morag. Does anyone know why? I do have overdrive protocols.
Damn didn't know Tora sucked that much, but I guess he's not good with any of these weapon types smh. He wasn't even good enough to mention. Thank you Enel, now I know not to waste my hard earned core crystals on him.
I hadn’t played XC2 in years, and after Pyra and Mythra were announced for smash I decided to pop the game back in and give it a go. I put Praxis on Zeke and went into a challenge mode fight, and I realized just how incredibly slow his animations for the Lance were. After I lost the fight because I hadn’t played the game in years and had unequipped a lot of necessary stuff I considered overdriving Praxis to someone else or just using her on Rex. But no. Eyepatch solidarity all the way, even if it literally kills me. Poor Zeke.
Bruh, when I first played this game I got Dagas as my first rare blade on Rex and overdrived him to Nia because he already had a fire blade. Obviously I put him on Zeke much later, but I'm still cringing my fucking balls off about that one.
the very first crystal core I opened in the entire game that wasn't a forced blade was KOS-MOS. I never understood at the time how much trouble people had with her, I was just there like "oh she looks cool, I'll equip her". Looking at this now.....damn I'm such a son of a bitch!
@@SirBanana1992 I just pulled her today, from a Common Core Crystal while simply trying to exhaust them and see how long it takes to get a rare blade (wasn't looking for a specific one). I'm still in chapter 4, I don't even have Morag yet.
Not gonna lie, really glad to see you actually saying positive things about Nia outside of the campaign for once. Actually mentioning how Nia can compete with Zeke for Cannon/Bitball user (Sheba for Nia and Azami for Zeke) plus Obrona for crit recharge break spamming just shows how she can DPS effectively with the rest of them. With all the Xenoblade DE content you've been doing, Sharla must have really opened your eyes to see what an actually outclassed Xeno party member is.
@@smashster1787 Sharla. He made this video after finishing XCDE content. Sharla is a crutch character that actively hurts your party with her inclusion (why heal when you can just kill enemies really quickly or topple lock them before they can even hurt you?), where as Nia is able to attack alongside everyone else. The biggest thing about her that makes her the 'worst' party member is that one of her biggest roles in the team (main user of break) is stolen by Tora after chapter 8, and all of her other Driver combo arts are tied to relatively poor weapon classes for her; topple on Axes sucks for her, and launch Knuckles, while good, are better used on Zeke for topple (since Tora also gets launch on his break blade). But even then, she's still able to have comparable damage to someone like Zeke if you give her an Ether based weapon in Canons or Bitballs. Sharla heals. Really nothing more.
@@anthonyk3952 Enel learned to respect Nia once he started using Crossette on her for speedruns. Nia is a very good party member throughout the story. She is only outclassed if you're doing post game stuff and optimizing DPS and don't need a dedicated healer.

CLONE: Shulk *CHROMA KATANA* Perfect: Morag Very Good: Rex, Nia Good: Zeke CLONE Exception: Corvin (better on Zeke thanks to Galactic Strike) *TWIN RINGS* Perfect: Rex Not Good: Nia not mentioned: Morag Abysmal: Zeke Exception: Zeke and Morag are incapable of using Dromarch and there are no other Rare Twin Rings CLONE Exceptions: Obrona (also good on Nia thanks to Papillon Dance), Fiora (better on Morag thanks to Universe Flicker), Mikhail (also good on Morag because incompatible with Mythra's Foresight on Rex), Elma (can be used on anyone thanks to Overdrive) *BITBALL* Perfect: Zeke Very Good: Nia Not Good: Morag Abysmal: Rex *KNUCKLE CLAW* Perfect: Zeke Very Good: Rex Good: Nia Not Good: Morag CLONE: Sever, Cressidus *WHIPSWORDS (BRIGHID)* Perfect: Morag Not As Good: Rex *BIG BANG EDGE (PANDORIA)* Perfect: Eye of Shining Justice Zeke Very Good: Rex Good: Zeke *DRILL SHIELD* Perfect: Tora *MECH ARMS* Perfect: Tora *VARIABLE SABER* Perfect: Tora
I think that the one redemption of Nia(besides being a good character) is that she is critically important to speedrunning the game for using Crossette, easily abusing the death code to fall from large heights, and being used to do some clips. The speedrun validates her!!1
The fact that you started by talking about Zeke's heavy blade animations made me feel 200 IQ for figuring it out on my own during my first playthrough.

I'm actually excited that you'll be doing a series going into detail for each blade, since a lot of them typically are overshadowed by either the main cast or the handful of broken blades.
The first game is my all time favorite. Picked the second one one month ago and now im addicted. Thanks Enel for keeping the game alive years after launch
Just finished Xenoblade chronicles 2, absolutely loved it, and am now going through information overload with all this stuff I’m learning about postgame building lol. Great video btw!
Love this content, man. A perfect day is me being off work, with a cup of coffee, replaying Xenoblade DE, 2 or X alongside your videos for optimal party setups. Monolithsoft should sponsor you for how much more enjoyable your make their games. Keep it up
Just want to take a moment to appreciate all of the humor in the comment sections of your videos. Shows how passionate people are about the Xeno series.
So, in summary: *Greataxe*-types: *Zeke* (except Mòrag for Dagas) *Megalance*-types: *Mòrag or Rex* (higher damage ratios vs. faster speed) *Ether Cannon*-types: *Zeke or Nia* (except Mòrag for Perdido) *Shield Hammer*-types: *Mòrag or Zeke * *Chroma Katana*-types: *anyone except Zeke, but probably Mòrag* (except Zeke for Corvin) *Twin Ring*-types: *Rex* (except Nia for Obrona and Mòrag for Fiora) *Bitball*-types: *Nia or Zeke* *Knuckle Claw*-types: *anyone except Mòrag * This is more for my own benefit as a reference, but maybe it'll help someone else too depending on how they learn stuff! Thank you so much for this video, it's been really helpful for me (as have your recent "How to use each Blade" videos) since I got this game for my birthday! (also, between getting Zenobia on Nia and putting Wulfric on Zeke, I think I might have to burn through some Overdrive Protocols.. at least I got Dagas on Mòrag and Adenine on Zeke?)
I will be completely honest: After having finished the story I never went back to Xenoblade 2 again after release. I was pretty much exhausted of the Gacha with the blades, the fact that I was completely overwhelmed with the system from the very beginning and had a really hard time overall. Now I am playing and having a blast with Xenoblade Definitive Edition, halfway through the story and by the side started to play a game on the Smartphone called Fate/Grand Order, just as a pass time, despite me disliking Gachas. While I played that, I remembered Xenoblade 2 and stumbled over your channel by just browsing about the fighting system. The game seems that much clearer to me now. For exampe, back in the day it was clear to me that Morag was very good with Katanas, yet I had no idea who axe was best on and completely ditched the weapon. Now I see that video and notice Zeke's incredible combo speed in comparison to Nia's. I was pretty much stuck on the old system, especially after having played through Xenoblade X twice and even getting the extra skells. After I am done with definitive edition, I am going to give Xenoblade 2 another try. I think I am going to enjoy the game more this time.
Yeah definitely give it a second shot and good for you ☺️. Edit: That your coming back to the game that is, in my opinion, this game has one of the best RPG combat systems ever, it just takes a lot to understand and you can't go back and read the tutorials just like in the XC1 and doesn't have the quest system XC:DE does.
@@ontosinabyss5950 And you are right, both you and Vivid Philosopher. After having watched Enel's videos, the game actually feels much clearer to me and a lot more engaging. I am definitely going to give it a second chance. I will probably get a bit annoyed by the Gacha again, but when it comes to the combat, I think I'll understand it a lot better and have a better time than before. Also, I still need to finish Torna O_O I bought it and never finished it! Geez, I have a lot to do XD
I’m thankful I found this vid. Started playing again after a few years and didn’t beat the game yet. I had no idea how to build the teams. I like to play healer so this was also helpful :)
honestly it might be weird but i really like to keep my characters as what theyve intended to be? ive always kept zeke as an attacker, always had morag and tora as a tank, nia as a healer only exception is rex and i usually run him with pyra/mythra + 2 other healing blades even if rex has faster arts than zeke with pandoria, it feels like a sin to use pandy on rex
Well, each character works pretty well as their default class. Tora really doesn't have a default class in my opinion since poppi can be outfitted in so many different ways.
@@empressbulby3761 Tora's default is pretty clearly tank. Poppi Alpha cant do much else and early game you're thankful to have him to keep Rex and Nia out of trouble. Playing casually I find that the factory is actually pretty hard once you lose him
You, Sir, got perfect timing here. I started playing Xenoblade 2 just today. I've already played it once, up until the end of Uraya, and I admittingly was already struggling and overwhelmed by all the game mechanics and micro management necessities. Enel, thank you so much for your effort. Not just for your main focus XBC2, but for XBC DE and - although maybe not as successful as the main games - XBCX as well. Never possessed a WiiU, but it is videos like yours that make me regret I have missed it. Do your videos on whatever title you like as long as you stay dedicated the way you did until now. Personally, thanks for helping me out big time on the DE so far. And thanks for your XBC2 guidance in advance.
I kinda managed to gather most of the information in this video from your other videos as well as just playing the game myself but it's great to hear a "confirmation" of sorts. Thanks!

I didn't cover everything to give people incentive to watch the actual video
Really excited to see your new guides on the blades. I think your quality has improved a lot and there's just a bunch of misinformed/outdated info out there. This video is great but as a suggestion, next time you do a demonstration like at 2:15, instead of just cutting out the sound, it might be a good idea to help further visualize to the viewer by say, editing in a 10 second timer w/ a tally (accompanied by like an audio cue) to really help get across the differences between animations. I recognize it's more work of course but just something to consider if you're looking for ways to take your videos to the next level. Keep it up!
Thank you. I Never considered animation frames. This game really makes you think if you want to 100%. Challenge mode and completing all the affinity charts really makes you learn and analyze everything you do in this game.
Very informative and useful tips. For the longest time, I never knew which weapon type is best used for which Driver. Thanks for that. I'll definitely try it out at some point.
really appreciate the video, i recently got xc2 (and already have like 150h on it) and i love the game and your videos helped me a lot, this one took me by surprise as i was just about to go finish getting all the blades now that 99 legendary cores is the norm cant wait for the in-depth videos on each blade! edit: on the in-depth videos maybe you can show builds aside from the silly broken ones or at least not the meta ones, kinda like your "why crit mythra is trash"
That is mostly if you aim ar Blade combos. If you go for Driver combos, you need a katana on Morag, an Axe on Rex, Claws on Nia, Lance on Morag or Zeke, and a Hammer on Zeke. Those are the only (Gacha blade) methods to gain Launch and Smash. Except Corvin, who always has a Smash. Break and Topple can be found pretty much everywhere. Or you just use Tora if he has all 3 Poppi forms. Then, with some setup in poppyswap, he can actually pull of a Driver combo on his own. Alpha has topple, QT has smash, and QTpi has Break and Launch.
Megalances suck on Zeke, we can all agree on that. However, they have a unique property. Due to the insane start-up of his Smash art, with proper timing (while playing as him), you can get a Smash-Level 3 Fusion combo, which is otherwise next to impossible to pull off. I have only seen this once while playing because I was curious if it could be done.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work it took to put this video together not a lot of people recognize that it takes quite a bit dedication to do some of these videos.
This has been very helpful. To tell the truth before I watched this video I really did not think about who I paired blades with, but, over the course of the game I have noticed character not performing very well with some blade. This really helped.
I wish this video was out months ago when I did my NG+ prep and was moving blades around. I basically ended up at these conclusions through help at GFAQs, but it would have been a lot easier had I just been given this video. Also this makes it easier for me to assign blades once my NG+ run starts and I start getting those exclusive blades
I know it’s been years since the Xenoblade 2 guides but I must genuinely thank you for being a big reason I got into Xenoblade 2, seeing the gameplay at a high level got me super interested, thank you Enel

Honestly, I hear a whole bunch of people say to not give Rex any blades due to what happens later on, but here’s a suggestion I have for who to put on Rex. Since he’s fairly balanced in his kit for each class, I would say to give him the blades that are considered the weakest of their class or in general. So here are the blades I suggest putting on Rex for each class. Greataxe: Either Agate or Gorg.(You can reply who you believe is better to put on Rex. Megalance: Perun. Ether Cannon: Probably none of them. Shield Hammer: Electra, Finch, and Godfrey.(Since Finch is more offensive while Electra is more defensive, I feel they work best together. And Godfrey, well I just liked his quote to Pyra during battle. Chroma Katana: Probably Perceval. Knuckle Claws: Kora. Bitballs: Probably none of them.
Tora he has the smoothest animations and recharges. While In his use she works as a healing tank with decent dps Unfortunately you will usually be using popppiQTpie and neglect the aegis blades
The single most important aspect for me, is what i want a character to focus on... It's not an objective truth, but i always experience the AI having trouble figuring out it's priorities if you give it too many options. If you want them to have both an attacking, healing and tanking blade, while also requiring them to participate in combos and such, my personal experience with this is that the AI simply can't deal with it, and it's down to random chance if it does what you want them to... It's the main reason why i usually go pure tank, attacker or healer, or at most have a healer on everybody, even if i try to avoid it. I want to make sure to limit the AI in how many things it can prioritize, increasing the likelyhood that it will heal when i need it, or keep the aggro. Another big reason is the limited items a driver can equip. With only two slots on every driver for an item, but 3 blades that can benefit from some kind of boost, it's next to impossible to make a build that is truely in balance if you have one blade from every class... So for me, i usually go for pure attack on Rex and Zeke, Healing on Nia and tank on Morag and Tora. This way, i open them up to have their roles boosted twice from accessories, becoming even better at their job. It's not at all the best build for characters, but it's one that always served me well, and even if the actual blade they can use would be better on another driver, it's the class of pure offense, tanking or healing that means the most to me...
It also kinda depends on the situation and where you are in the game. Early to mid game, all you have is Rex, Tora, and Nia, and their defined roles work well on their own, but if you face a particularly hard boss monster, you might find situations in which Tora has taken a beating as a tank and is about to die, so having Rex switch to a Tank blade with aggro up and hp up aux cores might help turn the tables, especially if your healing arts are on cooldown. Another situation is if you have a monster with a lot of HP and you're close to finishing him off, switching to an Attack blade on Nia might help boost damage output, especially with blade combos and chain attacks
@@OzzyTheGiant My issue is that the AI isn't very smart, so unless you are directly controlling a character, giving them more roles, and by extension more options, always seems to be a constant source of frustration for me, especially on BoC difficulty... It's likely down to my own playstyle, but i personally like keeping everything as simple for the AI as possible, because simple also means more predictable. If the AI is doing only tanking on Morag, with 3 tank blades, she gets a massive bonus to aggro, on top of better defensive stats. So i always know she can only change out to another tank, just like pure healer Nia will get much more aggro reduction and healing stats from her blades, making aggro a non-issue for her.
Well getting back into this game after 3 years thanks to the XC3 announcement ... as always its great to see that you have all the guides i could possibly need , thanks! So in a nutshell Nia is a pretty niche driver that is mostly pointless to use in post game ... i see you have 2 videos about Nia , so thats where i go next i guess. Thanks ^^
Thanks for this guide :). I started the game a couple months ago and i'll soon go to the challenge mode. But honestly, i prefer to use Shulk with Rex (for the protagonic duo) and Zeke ( *I'M REALLY FEELING IT* )
Have you considered doing video(s) on your “Top 10” favorite quests, both blade and non-blade? There are so many side quests that I don’t want to miss a cool one. And it seems like the RUclips algorithm tends to favor top 10 videos, so that could be a secondary positive effect
watching this video just as i started the game a few weeks ago vs now where i have 200 hours is such a different experience. the thing i love about your guides is i learn so much from them every time i revisit them
in the end really the best blade is by preference. though i agree a lot on your points, i can make do with any mix up, some more effective, some more fun. but this vid is nothing short of accurate so i like this
Honestly I think all she needed was to have Fiora take the Obrona approach and make her AOE crit recharge break the enemy as well. It would give her something unique among the other Fiora users and it is a pretty fast art. Damn you Monolith for not giving Nia a single niche use for her in challenge mode because Obrona is kinda mid. Ah well post game aside she's really good in the campaign with dlc. So she still is a pretty good driver overall.
Sooo, should Dagas go on Morag then? Or Zeke? And Corvin is cheesily useful with Zeke at times, but wouldn't he still be better on Morag overall? Only have so many switches.
This is great! You might want to make an actual list from what you’ve collected, though, because it would be really hard for a new player to use this as a resource to check for a specific character. For instance, if a new player wanted to know about Akhos and didn’t know he was an axe clone, it would be very hard to figure out what to do from this video without watching the entire thing and paying close attention. I think this could be implemented with a longer list in the description, or simply with time stamps for each of the weapon types.
I don't know why this popped in my head now, but I wish Dunban was a DLC blade. If only for his level 4 special which we'd all agree on being Blossom Dance.

*_YOU'RE GOD DAMN RIGHT._*
Poor Zeke.

Wait, so who would you consider to be the more outclassed party member?

Nah just make her a blade and enjoy that fan service outfit plus god tier heals.
I think that the one redemption of Nia(besides being a good character) is that she is critically important to speedrunning the game for using Crossette, easily abusing the death code to fall from large heights, and being used to do some clips. The speedrun validates her!!1

(also, between getting Zenobia on Nia and putting Wulfric on Zeke, I think I might have to burn through some Overdrive Protocols.. at least I got Dagas on Mòrag and Adenine on Zeke?)
I just started the game, so it's helpful for me as well, instead of watching the whole video again and making a reference note. So thanks Pal.
The list I’ve always wanted.
Definitely give it a second shot.. IMO by far this game have the most depth in regards to combat amongst all the Xenoblade games..

Also, I still need to finish Torna O_O I bought it and never finished it! Geez, I have a lot to do XD

honestly it might be weird but i really like to keep my characters as what theyve intended to be?
ive always kept zeke as an attacker, always had morag and tora as a tank, nia as a healer
only exception is rex and i usually run him with pyra/mythra + 2 other healing blades
even if rex has faster arts than zeke with pandoria, it feels like a sin to use pandy on rex
Well, each character works pretty well as their default class. Tora really doesn't have a default class in my opinion since poppi can be outfitted in so many different ways.
I do the same thing. With Rex I usually keep him an attacker but I'll change it up by putting blades that I like on him.

Keep it up!

cant wait for the in-depth videos on each blade!
edit: on the in-depth videos maybe you can show builds aside from the silly broken ones or at least not the meta ones, kinda like your "why crit mythra is trash"
Can’t wait to see the optimised Electra video when people will finally see how much better than qt pi she is
Megalances suck on Zeke, we can all agree on that.
Thanks Enel, needed a guide like this.
I wish this video was out months ago when I did my NG+ prep and was moving blades around.

Been revisiting Xenoblade 2 recently so cool to use this to maximize efficiency.
Ok but who's the best wielder of the Aegis Sword man, you didn't cover that one smh
Tora he has the smoothest animations and recharges. While In his use she works as a healing tank with decent dps
Unfortunately you will usually be using popppiQTpie and neglect the aegis blades
I just realized. I love how the opening has Zeke just SPAMMING Galactic Strike with Corvin lmao
Very happy to see this video thank you very much Enel

watching this video just as i started the game a few weeks ago vs now where i have 200 hours is such a different experience. the thing i love about your guides is i learn so much from them every time i revisit them

Well actually Zeke’s eyepatch matches Theory and not Praxis but he’s awful with katanas, so I just put the sisters under Morag
oh my god i was thinking about this literally yesterday thank you so much
Honestly I think all she needed was to have Fiora take the Obrona approach and make her AOE crit recharge break the enemy as well.
Plus how cool would it be if he baton passed his weapon while saying
Dunban: Born in a world of strife
Driver: Against the odds
Dunban: We choose to fight
Both: Blossom Dance!!!
