  • Is the Quran perfectly preserved "letter for letter, word for word, dot for dot" as some Muslim scholars have said? Or are there contradictory verses in the 10 Qira'at? I have a chat with Qira'at expert Fadel Soliman on his book "Bridges Translation of the 10 Qira'at of the noble Quran" where his team translates the 10 accepted Qira'at of the Quran into English.
Are there contradictory Qira'at? Lets find out...
    Bridges Translation of the 10 Qira'at of the noble Quran can be brought on Amazon here;
    www.amazon.co....
    Marijn Van Putten's example of a Quran Qira'at variant reading that seems to contradict the Quran in other verses;

Variants are found in pre-Islamic poetry - they're nothing special and are made a big deal out of by Muslim Apologists as if it's some unique feature of the Quran.

      We, in Arabic,
1 - It is a feature of literary style in Arabic that a person may refer to himself by the pronoun nahnu, ‘We’, for respect or glorification. 2- He may also use the word ana, ‘I’, indicating one person, or the third person huwa, ‘He’. All three styles are used in the Quran, where Allah addresses the Arabs in their own tongue.

How the qurans were altered to make them look like a miracle:
Most Muslims worldwide today-whether Sunni or Shiite- trust the 1924 Quran and consider it the only Quran that has ever existed. To them, it is not only the official Quranic text but also, and more importantly, the exact documentation of the revelations proclaimed by Muhammad in the seventh century, codified by Uthman decades after Muhammad’s death, and transmitted perfectly throughout the fourteen centuries of Islam. The 1924 Cairo Quran is Islam’s scripture; this is the reality. However, critical thinkers must remember how this text reached us. It is hardly a reconstruction of what Muhammad proclaimed. The 1924 Quran is a purpose-designed and manipulated text built on one selected reading that ignored many other legitimate texts that existed throughout Islamic history. We CANNOT be confident in today’s Quran as a true representation of the text that initially appeared in a seventh-century Arabian desert.

the issue with qiraat is that if you have multiple different "ways of reading" that will in turn make the tafsir or exegesis of these verses different and thats exactly why cairo in 1924 standardized it

The standard Islamic narrative has too many holes in it. The Quran itself makes certain claims but these claims themselves destroy Islam because.
-claiming that the Quran is preserved word for word letter for letter and dot for dot.
    - woe to them who write a book with their own hands and claim it is from god. This statement is mainly for the Muslims and d Quran.
    - there was also a challenge to produce a sura like this. But shaitan produced a better sura than Al lah. Is Satan Al lah? Or Islam is satanism.
    Etc.

Quran 2:115 is abrogated by Quran 2:144 (this is one example)
Both the verses are in the quran.
If as mentioned at 9:44 the previous verse has to be forgotten and it vanishes, then why is it in the quran? Why has it not vanished? How can one forget when it is in the quran and people can read it?
And are the abrogated verses completely ignored in their prayers?

In the science of the Quran by Yashir Qadhi or one of the Ahruf books (I might be wrong on the book but I have the pdf saved somewhere), they reference early scholars that say it’s impossible for the Ahruf to be dialects because the hadiths mention the sahaba who were arguing over the Ahruf spoke the same dialect. The dialect explanation was likely redacted to line up with the early Islamic centers where we can confirm historically the Quran and Hadith proliferated from, ex. Medina, Basra, Kufa, etc.

What i have learned from this Guy in the last few minutes of the video about his attempt in trying to resolve the contradiction is That allah is the worse communicator of them all ,its humans who need to fix and add words to the quran verses to fix his words,so much about Quran being a perfect book ,a literary miracle ,when without humans adding to it ,Quran is incomprehensible(whether you put it into brackets or just add words straight forward). ....Not long ago such things were called corupting the text .......you can resolve any contradicition by adding words to the sentence ...i can write a book and write in it "It was monday, 11:45 in London and the sky was blue " and in another edition of the same book "i write It was monday,11:45 in London and the sky was not blue" and people who read both editions and have great opinion of the book and just cant believe that its a contradiction ,they put in the brackets(there were three or four gray clouds) poof contradiction resolved ....Sky was blue and it wasnt blue because it had few gray clouds....Take that Allah....

    Fao brother Chris (Iceman),
It's interesting that the Shia (source below) admit that there was only the rasm during the time of Muhammad.
Calligraphy, Orthography and Diacritical Marks Used in the Qur'an
The first and second copies of the Qur'an were written in Kufic script at the time of the Prophet. The very basic nature of the script, without diacritical marks, was suitable for the reciters, relators and scholars who had learned the Qur'an by heart, since only they knew the precise pronunciation of the words. Others found great difficulty if they opened the Book and tried to read correctly.
It was for this reason that at the end of the first century after Hijrah Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali, one of the companions of 'Ali, with the guidance of the latter, wrote out the rules of the Arabic language and on the orders of the Umayyad Caliph 'Abd al-Malik produced a Qura'nic text with diacritical marks. This, to a certain extent, removed the difficulty of reading the Kufic script.
Several difficulties remained, however; the diacritical marks for vowels, for example, were for a time only points. Instead of a fathah, a point was placed at the beginning of the letter and, instead of kasrah, a point below and, for a dammah, a point above at the end of a letter.
This led to ambiguity. It was not till Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi set about explaining the maddah, i.e. the lengthening of certain words, the doubling of letters, the diacritical marks of vowelling and the pause, that the difficulty of reading script was finally removed.

Scholar Marijn Van putten agrees with scholar Gabriel Reynolds that there are grammatical error in sura 5.69 or the possibility of a scribal error:
Words of scholar Marijn van putten:
The reason why is actually easy to show here, This verse has near doublet in Q2:62 and Q22:17, where the wording is basically identical but the case inflection is as expected:
    *ʾinna llaḏīna ʾāmanū wa-llaḏīna hādū wa-n-naṣārā* ***wa-ṣ-ṣābiʾīna*** *man ʾāmana bi-llāhi wa-l-yawmi l-ʾāḫiri ...* (Q2:62)
    *ʾinna llaḏīna ʾāmanū wa-llaḏīna hādū* ***wa-ṣ-ṣābiʾūna*** *wa-n-naṣārā man ʾāmana bi-llāhi wa-l-yawmi l-ʾāḫiri ...* (Q5:69)
    *ʾinna llaḏīna ʾamanū wa-llaḏīna hādū* ***wa-ṣ-ṣabīʾīna*** *wa-n-naṣārā wa-l-maǧūsa ...* (Q22:17)
The particle *ʾinna* should trigger the accusative, but for some reason it doesn't in Q5:69, while in the other two verses it does. Since these are doublets, I don't think you can make a plausible case that a different meaning is intended, it's clearly the same wording.
This verse is also well-known from a hadith attributed to ʿĀʾišah which calls this a scribal error in the Quran.

How desperate is Soliman? The contention of that Qiraat in Surah 11:81 is regarding the command given by the angels to Prophet Lot, what happened later may help indicate what happened and confirm which one is the correct but it ultimately doesn’t matter in light of the meaning of the 2 recitations. It is was also a quote from a historical occurrence, for the Quran was recounting what the angels spoke to Lot.
He was also utterly delusional regarding Surah 10:17, Surah 10:17 is about responding to the disbelievers but one can easily tell that the different “options” will lead to different responses and carry different theological connotations.
The first variant puts a clear emphasis on the uniqueness of Muhammad and how he is the chosen one and that without him, no message will be delivered and Allah will not choose to deliver the message at all.
The second variant however does not have this emphasis on the uniqueness of Muhammad and that the choice of messenger is secondary with the delivery of the message prioritised over the nature of the messenger.
If one is to argue that Muhammad could have obeyed both and that it is merely a second option, then he or she will have to contend with the following:
    1. Why only this scenario even though every other scenario has only one option? Why is he allowed to be essentially 2 faced here but always ordered in other cases to only convey one message and one divine intention?
    2. Why phrase the options in a way that reveals 2 different intentions, with one praising Muhammad’s character and the other not doing so?
Finally, what is Fadel’s position exactly? He believes that all the Qiraat descends from one Ahruf for 6 of the 7 Ahruf where destroyed by Uthman, shouldn’t then this be essentially a red flag for the other claim of his which is that all of these Qiraat, which descended from this one Ahruf (hence one recitation), for any variants in this case will be a contradiction is we to assume perfect transmission?

*Scholar Marijn van putten doesn't believe the qurans are perfectly preserved:*
What do you mean by "The Quran today"? There are 10 different reading traditions with 20 sub-narrations adhered to today. *They are different from one another.*
About 500 years ago, yes we more-or-less have the same 10 readers with 2 transmissions each.
But go back a little further, to al-Qabāqibī who dies 849 AH/1445 CE *we have fourteen reading traditions, 4 of which have completely fallen out of use.*
Go even further back to al-Huḏalī's *al-Kāmil* (he dies 465 AH/1072 CE), and *he has 50 reading traditions, forty of which are no longer in active use. And of the ten the he has, there are countless sub-narrations that are no longer adhered to today.*
This problem really only compounds the further you go back. If you include manuscripts from before Ibn Muǧāhid (d. 324/936), you will find countless readings *that do not fit with any of the canonical ten and not even with any of al-Huḏalī's fifty... None of these traditions are in living use, many of them have wordings that are unique to them and no longer present in any of the recited forms of the Quran.*
And of course, ultimately, the text of Uthman is a bottleneck for *most* of these traditions. Uthman commissioned his standard text about 20 years after the death of the prophet. *We know for a fact that the companions of the prophet had version of the Quran that differed much, much more than the amount of variation that you find in Uthmanic text. Whole words and phrases replaced and added or reordered, in codices such as those of Ibn Masʿūd and ʾUbayy.*

I don’t even know how u can make those statements, Chris. Ignoring their own early scholars admit to MULTIPLE ways of destruction, nevermind “let none of you say you have the whole of the Q as much has been lost,” I’m curious how u came to this conclusion? Correct me if I’m wrong, but they’ve not got a single completed book until 1924 so help me understand. It’s easy to preserve anything within the last 100 yrs.

This is really a success for Islam !
In other words, Christians admit that today's Quran traces back to Uthman 🙂 🙂 🙂 You don't even realize what you're saying; the Sahaba lied during the first 1-10 years, and then truly preserved the Quran in its complexity for nearly 1,400 years, i.e., incl. the Qiraat...(which makes the preservation even more difficult, this is the irony 🙂)
The most important thing, which eruopeans lacks to understand is, that the oral-tradition is much more robust. Who do you think the reputable Publisher of any Quran-Book goes to in order to check whether its correct ??? ALWAYS TO MEMMORIZERS, THEY NEVER CHECK IT AGAINST AN HARDCOPY !!
Wake up or keep sleeping, it's your choice...
    ........................................
    *Here's a bit more detailed:*
The problem is simply Chris's competence, or rather, the difficulty. It was clear to see how Chris, the pseudo-Islamic scholar, tried to pick out errors but unfortunately without success. Chris talks about one verse there or not there, when all knew its from the Quran 🙂he always makes me laugh, Christians lost their whole book, even from the corrupted bibles they throuw away whole chapters and verses, 🙂its just surreal...
Ahruf or Qirat, you can derive thousands of Qirat from the Quran, but they follow certain rules and must be traceable back to Muhammad (peace be upon him), THAT IS THE KEY because he was the teacher of the Sahaba. Chris demands that Muhammad (peace be upon him) reproduces the number of Qirat 🙂 Chris simply lacks knowledge; its like saying, Muhammad as. should have mentioned the amount of Verses revealed 🙂you can choose the combination of readings yourself. This means you have to read the verse (there are over 6,000) in ONE valid Qiraat, but you can reread all the others in another Qiraat; this means you could theoretically come up with tens of thousands of Qiraat. (known in maths as the Cartesian product) But it suffices to combine those that encompass all readings, which is realized with 10 readings (a combination of all possible Qiraat) directly attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Because every Sahabi who learned the Quran and was taught it by a Companion of the Prophet as. (who himself learned it from the Prophet) or directly from Muhammad (peace be upon him). In other words, the oral transmission was personally endorsed by Muhammad (peace be upon him). If now other Sahaba or descendants of the Sahaba mix the various readings (valid) together, then that is still valid. What is always important is that you have an uninterrupted transmission chain back to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Qirat is simply a combination of readings in one! If you really want to understand this, then read Karen Armstrong, or Professor Angelika Neuwirth - you're begging for errors in the Quran, yet you haven't even seen 0.00000001% of Jesus's writings. Why do you desperatly try to find a Muslim without shoes when you dont even have any clothes anymore 😞sad...
Look what Prof. Neuwirth even further says, and she is a Non-Muslim expert, not like Chris a Christian-Bias Speakers Corner Out-Of-The-Context-Debater:
An interview with Professor Angelika Neuwirth, who is a professor of Qur’anic Studies, argued that the Qur’ān has never been successfully challenged by anyone, past or present: *“…no one has succeeded, this is right… I really think that the Qur’an has even brought Western researchers embarrassment, who weren’t able to clarify how suddenly in an environment where there were not any appreciable written text, appeared the Qur’an with its richness of ideas and its magnificent wordings.”*
Listen, let's go the other way around, currently, there is only one Quran incl. Qiraat, now trace them back, when do you find another Quran 🙂 Never 🙂
If there had been other Qurans, they would have spread because Muslims were geographically widespread beyond the reach of Uthman and his call to bring all manuscripts. Do you reallly think he was a magician and got all manuskripts by clapping in his hands... you really believe in Aladin...
But now, a different question, which of the Bibles (translated library) is actually the true one 🙂
    Eastern Orthodox Bible
    Coptic Orthodox Bible
    Ethiopian Orthodox Bible
    Syriac Orthodox Bible
    Russian Orthodox Bible
    Latin Vulgate
    King James Version (KJV)
    New International Version (NIV)
    Revised Standard Version (RSV)
    New American Bible (NAB)

Islamic tradition argues that the Qur’an’s transmission was firmly controlled by the practice of oral recitation; the revelations received by Muhammad were learned from him as recitations by his followers, and were sometime later written down to form the Qur’an text we have today… Doubts have been shed, however, on this traditional view…Moreover, there is mounting evidence that the Qur’an text, or parts of it at least, must at some stage in its history have been transmitted in purely written form, without the benefit of a controlling tradition of active recitation.” -Fred M. 1 - It’s not memorized from the time of it’s writing or at any time,
2 - The earliest full manuscripts are from the 4th century. Hence no way of ensuring that what you have is indeed what was written.
3 - Later Greek manuscripts and the ones used today have verses that are not present in the earliest manuscripts such as codex sinaiticus and codex Vaticanus, e.g:
    - Mark 16: 9 - 20 is not in codex Sinaiticus and Vaticanus (most ancient and authoritative), these could be later forgeries
    - John 7:53-8:11 are not in codex Sinaiticus, could be later forgeries
4 - The most ancient complete manuscript Codex Sinaiticus has doctored and sexed up verses, e.g., Matthew 28:19 “…. Baptise in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” is in 4th Century Sinaiticus, but in the 3rd-century writing of Eusebius where this verse is mentioned many times don’t have these trinity bits.

They can’t accept the fact the Quran wasn’t perfectly preserved, their cult literally falls apart.
Quran 15: 9 - “It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.”

Variant readings are found in any orally transmitted text whether they are religious or non-religious like poetry just like silent letters are found in many languages and not just in English. Saying that variant readings (Qiraat) are a unique feature of the Quran is like saying silent letters like the letter "k" in the word "knight" is a unique feature in English - no it's not! Silent letters are found in other languages as are variant readings like in pre-Islamic poetry.
