Excellent example of narrative based, immersive skirmish gaming. Demonstrating perfectly that it doesn't have to be a simple dice chucking game with miniatures! Well done indeed Sir! 😉 Looking forward to viewing more of your postings.
@@AshandStoneNZ Played a solitary 250pts Humans against Orcs this morning using my D&D Wizkids minis. Humans won. Poor orcs had too many bad rolls. Great fun. I'll try to get my group to play it.
Very cool! The story and narration and quick cuts make this much more interesting to watch than most battle reports. I think the only mistake is that stunned units automatically fail morale tests, so Zugthorul would have run off at the end of turn 2!
Cheers Mate! I appreciate the kind words! You're totally right! That completely slipped my mind. Just as well it didn't make a huge difference in the end!
Your narrative overtalk is awesome.... you must be a reeeeally good Games Master in a role playing game. Absolutely excellent battle report. I love the way many of your your characters carry on from game to game. :-)
This was a great report with a great presentation. I love the immersion and storytelling behind it. Hoping to see more OPR stuff! It's def got me hooked on your channel.
Me too! But the Saurians are tenacious. Yeah, OPR plays really nice and quick (Especially so in this case!) You can knock out a game at this size in 30-45 minutes. It probably took longer to set out and pack up the terrain!
Bautifull narative batrep. Thanks for posting and for inspiration. Im building 6mm HDF and Bugs with idea of runnung Starshiptroopers campaign. This is awesome.🙂👍
@AshandStoneNZ Hi, Im printing Enlisted from LazyForger and some definitly Not Nids found on net. And its surprisingly fun to paint. Basing units by five to be able to track losses with d6 and I Plan to just use OPR GF rules in cm instead of inches.
Oh nice! I was thinking of doing a similar thing at 15mm and doing the same thing with the rules, switching inches to cm. I found some 6mm "not Imperial Guard" on thingiverse that scaled up well, but still haven't decided what I want to do for aliens. Weirdly RUclips didn't send me a notification of your reply, I only happened to chance upon it, so sorry about the delay!
Cheers Jacob! It's a custom made 3D print. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can grab the files here: www.wargaming3d.com/product/folding-12-and-60-ruler/
Cheers Armond! Absolutely. Just needed a wee break to work on some other stuff. My Goblin Slaves have just arrived and I'm just finishing off some more Dwarves for the next battle report so the current plan is to return to Oathmark next.
@@AshandStoneNZ I look forward to their arrival on the battlefield! Your vids are always a joy to watch and I am always impressed by the quality! I have a feeling I may end up doing a lot of solo stuff when I move soon, or maybe if my son has interest he can jump in. Any tips for videos, post production programs, etc.?
Cheers mate! I appreciate it! Solo gaming is good fun, if nothing else it can give you good motivation to get stuff painted! If you end up recording your games, I use DaVinci Resolve to edit mine. It's a free download and it's extremely powerful.
Great report! Love the narration, and the way you interposed the dice cam! Have you started painting the latest patreon release of OPR's ratmen? I love the four wheeler and the flame thrower teams.
Cheers Toph! I haven't started on them yet. Too many other projects on the go right now! I really like how clean and crisp they look. They have a nobility about them.
Amazing video, I love your narration. I do believe 'One Page Rules' would be much better if it were D10 based. D6 just doesn't have the nuance needed for this set of game rules.
Cheers Jan! I hadn't thought about that, but wow, I think you're right! They have such a massive diversity of different armies and units, but they are all constrained by that limited D6. The D10 would allow for soo much more nuance!
And a fair question too! The strategy mainly comes with force selection and activation order. But ultimately, the game does lack depth. The low turn number, high movement and focus on occupying objectives tends to result in forces crashing into each other, from all directions, in the centre of the board, where the side with the most dice comes out on top. It's designed to be simple, fast and extremely bloody, but if you want a thinking mans game, this is not it.
@@AshandStoneNZ Thank you for your honest answer sir! This is by no means a negative thing, I think the game is good at what it wants to be. There is certainly a place for "lighter" games. But simplicity of rules does not does not always mean simple gameplay and vice versa, complex rules dont necessarily mean actual tactical gameplay (GW games eg) so I needed to ask people who have some experience with the game.
Exactly! It's good at what it does, which is a nice quick battle with cool factions and cool models. IMO, if you want something that allows you to flex your grey matter and perform some more complex maneuvering and tactics on the table, you need something a bit slower paced.
Hi Kevin. Yes and no. It's a wargame like Warhammer but it's different in the way it plays. You can download the rules and army lists for free from here: onepagerules.com/
Fantastic dialogue! And having the dice rolls integrated with the story-line is a brilliant solution to typical dice-rolling slog.
Cheers Mike! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
A happy ending and a heroic stand by the lizard boys. Really enjoyed this.
Glad to hear it Grim! The Saurians did well!
Nice swamp land! That’s most worthy of a battle!!
Cheers Jason! the Saurians definitely think so!
Your narration really made this battle report stand out! Great job!

Oh my word! Fantastic storytelling and soundwork! :D
Thanks very much Carmen! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Awesome battle! Please make more! Thought the demons were gonna win for sure!

I've tried watching other videos about this game and they were boring with lazy editing. You excelled at showing off how fun this game is. Thank you!

Great skirmish report! That saurian was so tough with all those 6 rolls. Also really liking the camera placement during combat. Great work!

MORE ONE PAGE RULES FROM THE GOAT HIMSELF 😍
Mate! I'm blushing!
Another awesome episode. Really love your narrative construction and how synchronized the rules action is to the story. Really easy to follow.

great narration - really made the battle report stand out

Enjoyed this battle report immensely. The rules seem to flow very well too.
I'm glad to hear it! The rules are nice and simple make for a fast paced battle. Especially so in this case!
Boy, that turned fast! I wonder where its going to go from here
It sure did!
At this stage this was intended to be a one off rather than an on going story.

Thought the Daemons had it to begin with but those Saurians managed to hold out for the win. I like how quick and easy these one page rules games go.

that strike by the gator wasn't luck, all skill I tell ya. Great battle report mate
Cheers Bradley. It was all to plan.
First the Gator lures the Champion in, feigning weakness, then BAM!
Cold Bloods vs Very Hot Blood
As always my guy, I am impressed with your show, and am rooting for the lizards.
Spoilers:
Welp....that was bloody. Given that these particular demons are known for being brutal slaughterers, that checks out. Go lizard boys.
Very brutal game! But we wouldn't expect anything else given the factions involved!

Great stuff (as always), thank you! Where are the hut and tent models from?
