dishwasher door latch repair

GE has successfully created a lot of repair jobs.
Junk that lasts a few years if you're lucky. They should be ashamed.
And the repair job seems to be with latches on a door. This same problem happened recently with a GE microwave.
@@laurieneilson3168 One of the many issues regarding their products. They’re purposefully built this way for planned obsolescence. Cheap manufacturing, high margins, and products that are defective right after the warranty period expires so you go out and purchase another; repeating the process in perpetuity.
And how
Thank you so much for the video. Another video simply suggested I purchase a new latch but it turns out, the door simply wasn't closing properly. After I removed the dishwasher mount screws and closed the door, it worked perfectly fine. Saved me some time and money so thanks a million.
thanks for the comment , when u get a chance hit that sub for me
I’m a Ge customer care tech (authorized third party) this is a design flaw with this series of dishwashers. Problems ranging from the door not closing to simply not starting. I personally don’t have enough experience with Ge to say I’ve seen this in person but I can say that Ge has a service bulletin for the door not staying closed. It was eventually discovered that a factory defect in the upper rack track/weels were causing the upper rack to push against the door just enough to cause it to pop open.
wow .. good input thanks for the comment 💪🏾 don’t forget to hit that subscribe for me friend means alot
Ridiculous that GE didn’t alert owners. I’m not buying GE again. I spent way too much money on this thing and I rarely use it. When I do go to use it, it should work.
not the issue here because he has both racks removed in the video.
I had the same issue and placed a few shims above the latch and it started working. Thanks for the video!
I cleaned my switch and put it back together and it worked. Before I added a piece of aluminum foil in between the switch and where the door makes contact and that worked fine too
WOW this one worked! I tried replacing the latch, even tried replacing the control board and neither woked. I was already preparing to buy a new dishwasher this upcoming black Friday but this is what did the trick! Thank you!
Thanks glad I could help , if you get a chance subscribe To the page everyone count 💪🏽

I’ve never had a dishwasher problem until the other day and I was clueless, so finding this video was a blessing. It’s so satisfying when I can fix something around the house without having to hire someone to do it for me. 💪🏼
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!

Thanks man, I knew it was the catch, wasn't fully seated. Works great now!
No problem .. thanks for the comment hit the subscribe when you can 💪🏾💪🏾🔥
Thanks for taking the time to show this video! It helped a lot. Took the door latch off and put it on the dishwasher door by itself and it worked. All I had to do is adjust the seating a little when I put it back in and it works perfectly.
no doubt! appreciate the comment glad i could assist some , i do all types of stuff will have new videos up soon , when h get a chance hit the sub button 💯💪🏾

Thanks for this. You just saved me an expensive repair. 😄
no problem
Take everything out. Pull the drain filters inside on the bottom. Shove a wet vac in there and suck all the water and gunk out and likely the thing that is plugging the drain. Worked for me!
Bro.. seriously seriously seriously thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!
no doubt glad i could help !!💯💪🏾

Try to reset the circuit breaker for the DW, my unit had power but would not start. Reset the circuit breaker anyway and it started ! like a reboot of the computer i guess.
I just replaced the door switch and the old on was definately busted. The repair guy tried to sell me a whole new door when he could have easily tried to fix the door latch which was visibly busted. Almost bought a new dishwasher. After I replaced the door latch it took a minute for it to get started again. Thx for this video I now know what to try next if it continues to be an issue. Thx so much!
oh wow damn 🤦🏽♂️
they stay trying to sell you something u don’t need
when you get a chance hit that sub for me , appreciate the comment tryin get this channel to grown some

it seems like shims or removing that plate it the fix , thanks for the views subscriptions and comments !!! 💪🏾💯💯😎
I have the same dishwasher, I ordered a new door switch and it just clicks but doesn’t start. Any idea on what else I should try? 😩
Thank you for this video! I tried this and it didn't fix my problem, unfortunately. I will keep the part for future repairs but I think my problem is with the (much more expensive) control panel.
no they are not that much what is your symptoms
Our GE dishwasher has the same issue I think. It sounds like it’s starting, but then stops after 5min and beeps repeatedly. I’m going to take a crack at this fix- really don’t wanna cough up the cash for a dishwasher. This one is only a yr old 😮
yea try a few things first before you do that let me know what you come up with
Great vid. Except for the accent you sound like an E TN no-nonesense fella.
Keep up the good work!
The top of the Tub is Bowed up, Normally caused by incorrect installation.
yes if the cabnet to countertop installation screws are tightened too much the latch contact will not line up (bowed up)even though the latch spring will hold the door closed .common problem .shims above the switch
are another way to fix
@@aarongibbins3119 damn I wish I saw your comment sooner. Spent an hour trying to find a solution and the shim did the job. Thanks!
Several months ago our GE Profile dishwasher had similar issues, with 'door not closed' being indicated by flashing yellow light and beeping. Tried a new control board, that didn't help. Service guy (inexperienced) came out, he couldn't pin down issue, suggested a new control board, still not working. I put it back together and after he left it started working. Last few months the dishwasher has started turning itself On and beeping, then started the 'door not closed' thing again. Switch was working and realignment didn't help. Found a wire underneath that look like a rodent had chewed on, but that wasn't it. Before giving up & calling service, I put the original control board from 2017 back in - now it's working again (but still randomly turns by itself). Not sure what's going on but seems pretty fishy to me... 🤔
question did you y’all check the board at the bottom under the door or at the top near the handle , i think k that model should have 2 boards
@@OffDaHook84 No I did not check other boards. My version has switches/lights on the top surface (not on the front like in your case). I pried off the top and checked underneath a few months ago, I don't think I saw any issues. But then the top panel didn't go back on very well over the function switches.
I have the same Brand/Model GE Dishwasher. It is just over 2 years old. In my case, there are no lights on the panel at all. Any steps on how to fix this issue?
Ima start with the simple stuff first , did you check the outlet for power , if you did that pull the bottom kick plate off check the junction box for power there make sure all wire nuts are tight (volt meter ) if that's all good and still not working hit me back
@@OffDaHook84 okay I’m having the same issue as him and tried all these tips
Still nothing
I was hoping this was my issue but I think my switch is bad. It’s really lose when engaged with the door.
it may just need to be tightened up always try the easiest things first
If you are having to lift the door to get the dishwasher to start, take a look at this video BEFORE purchasing a new latch or removing factory installed frame parts:
"GE dishwasher fix for blinking light and won't start"
ruclips.net/video/JRnifcbmFcU/видео.html
Didn't work for me. Any other suggestions?
what is it doing the beeps ?
This is starting to get frustrating…
I have the exact dishwasher and this didn’t work.. I checked the main breaker, did this, plugged into a different outlet and I still have no display or power
I see one green flashing light on the bottom but other then that.. no power
if you don’t mind digging into it , it’s an easy board to replace at the bottom where the power comes in at , is it doing the 3 beeps ?
it’s the top board im actually about to do 1 on tuesday ima see if i can record it and post it , it’s about 40$ and takes about 30mins or so to do
Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I have also tried two different latches but the problem persists.
are you getting power ?
@@OffDaHook84 Yep I have power. It beeps telling me the door isn't closed. Even with the latch removed and manually held on the door...no joy. In diagnostic mode it also tells me the door is open.
@@Severris i had the same issue as you, but I fixed it. Unplug power cord from outlet. The latch has three cables. Cut them and tied them all together with a wire nut. Tie them together on the end that goes back to the washer, not the switch end. Closed the door and plug back into outlet. Should work now.
@@freshfresh9303 I'll give it a try, thanks.
Didn't work. All that does is bypass the switch to make it think the door is always closed. I tested the switch with a multimeter. The board sees the door opening and closing. I'm pretty sure the control board is bad.
U def from bmore i do calls in dc let's link
How u figure that ??

Poor brand. My dishwasher started doing this on its very first use
they could have screwed the upper screws too tight back them out a little
I have this dishwasher, it's the biggest piece of shit.
