The late, great Freddie King was one of the 3 kings of blues guitar alongside BB King and Albert King. Amazing performance and reaction to match. RIP Freddie.
I can't believe someone is reacting to Freddie King and doing my very favorite song by him on top of that!! My old boyfriend, who is one of the finest blues guitarists you will ever hear introduced me to Freddie King, and you have found yourself a gem!! He is my old boyfriend's very favorite blues man. And you can see why! Anyone in the Jacksonville, FL area, don't miss the chance to go out and hear Jonathan Brock and/or Celinda Pink, his mom who is a fantastic blues singer!
The band was playing like angels for God. They gave their soul back to God in this performance.
Freddie King, BB King, Albert King.....it's all good!!
R.i.p to the 3 kings
All the great Blues players felt what they played. It was the feeling of the day back then, considering the times they lived in.. No faking it. These folks were real musicians. We used to call it Back in the Alley music. Listen to Bobby (Blue) Bland singing Stormy Monday.
The older I get the more I think that the Blues is the only real music.
I love B.B. and Albert, but Freddie will ALWAYS be my favorite. Not just my favorite blues artist, but my favorite singer/songwriter of all time.
Thanks for this reaction Jayy!
The king of Kings!
Freddie King has made me cry forever. Sings my story.
Saw him in a small club in San Jose, Ca. in 1973. Boy, could he put on a show! Stellar performer!
One of the greatest blues guitarist he was known as The Texas Cannonball because of his energetic style of attacking the guitar as he played it. He influenced later musicians such as Eric Clapton and Peter Green.
To my mind BB King was more an influence to Peter Green, but you can definitely hear Freddie King in Eric Clapton's style, not only in playing guitar but also singing
Freddy King was a bad lad, one of the Three Kings of the Blues. You've got to hear him sing Goin' Down.
Do a live version of Freddie King doing "Woman Across the River" next! That one is tied with this one for my very favorite of his! And then do "Goin' Down" !! That one is also tied for my favorite of his too, hehe!! 💃🎶🎵🎸
One of "The Three Kings", every white man who plays blues guitar learned by listening Freddie, Albert, and BB King. Got to see Freddie in Seattle in 1974, he had tremendous energy, although most folks nowadays can't listen to a 10 minute slow blues. The great David Maxwell on piano. "Go Ahead " indeed, sister!
one of thr greatest blues heroes, ever....
Definitely one of my all time favorite songs and performances. I love the blues, I was raised on the blues and play the blues. The great Freddie King was so talented because the guitar is an extension of him and he is speaking through it. I love when an artist can make any instrument and in this case the guitar speak and cry. The blues had a baby it it was called rock and roll and it is the foundation of all modern music heard today.
The GREAT Freddie King. He was a massive influence on a whole heap of future guitar heroes: Mick Taylor, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Kossoff...lord have mercy.
Check out Freddie playing "I'm Tore Down", "Lowdown In Lodi", "I'm Going Down" and "The Stumble". Great stuff, Jayy.
great bluesman !!! man what an infectious smile he has..love it !.God Bless the Blues !!!..gotta have em sometimes, otherwise you get too full of yourself in life.xoxoxoxo
The “Texas Cannonball” was a force of nature
By the way, you can see early on how he gave the bandmates a look!! Freddie was one you did NOT want to piss off! 6' 4" and 300lbs a very big man!!!
He looked at the piano player like he was gonna kill his whole family lol
@@nathaneley6486 Hahaha i thought the same thing, but Freddie was furious with the Sound Man who was in the same sight as the keyboard player. Freddie had great respect, and really liked David Maxwell on Keys.
Your reactions are hilarious!
Freddie is TESTIFYIN!!!! The late David Maxwell on piano died in 2015.
I believe he did a rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine" at this concert.🔥
In Austin where I grew up, Antone's live music venue would have a 3 Kings celebration every year. Freddie, Albert & B.B. King. Freddie is my favorite, he died way to early. He was amazing & I think a lot of younger guitarists really copied his more rocking blues style. You should listen to "the key to the highway", which Eric Clapton has covered often & "big legged woman" is a great song among many. Known as the "Texas Cannonball". He was credited to bringing or introducing white people back to the blues.
In addition to the artists named elsewhere, try...
Muddy Waters
Sister Rosetta Tharpe
Otis Rush
Robert Johnson
Buddy Guy
Roy Buchanan
Gatemouth Brown
Johnny Winter
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Joanna Connor
Justin Johnson
Samantha Fish
The Allman Brothers
Derek & The Dominos
for starters! :-)
Freddy King was the first to record this , tho it was written by a real obscure guy . Clapton made it famous in the rock world .
Your reaction was precious. R.I.P Freddie.
Makes my heart feel good, that you're reacting to a great bluesman! He was my favorite!! Most people don't know Grand Funk loved this guy, and put Freddie on a tour with them! And the song GFR did called We're an American Band; makes reference in one of the lines in that song. Again another tribute and respect for this giant!
Glad you reacted to him he's awesome...thanks so much
In da blues it's very much a case still of 'We Three Kings of Occident Are' - those being B.B., Albert and (as here) Freddie King. And they're all quite different in approach and style.
Wawooo fantastique mazing Freddy king
I broke into a sweat just watching. Then craved a shot of Jack Daniels. Too early in the day.
Try the song from him " Going Down " the live version. Great !!! 🎸🤙. You have to give a listen to " Willie Mae Big Mama Thornton " 🤙🤙🤙. She will blow your mind !!! Now you know why BLUES is soooo powerful !!!!! Freddie was known to play with metal finger picks on all 5 fingers. He never used a plastic or just one pick. The sustain on the ES -335 are great. I love Freddie & Albert & all the yesterday blues artist that invented rock n roll .
Thank you for bringing us the immortal Freddie King!
THAT is the blues
👍👍 I love the Blues. They speak to me. I'm feeling it. Can't wait for my wife to get home. Good reaction as always. 😎 ✌
Freddie's sporting the world's largest lapels, gotta love the 70's....

Please keep doing the blues greats. My faves are Buddy Guy and Junior Wells. Best thing is, there’s a ton of recordings of them together
My favorite King!. "The Texas Cannonball".
Haha. I could wait to see the look on her face when he started singing. BTW thats not sweat on his forehead. That's an over ubundance of soul leaking out.
Stevie Ray Vaughn’s favorite player
Thank you for covering this! Listening to it is like consuming a week's worth of food for the soul! You can't just listen, you are compelled to watch. I'm getting kick out of watching you as I know what's coming!

The Texas Cannonball!
The woman he is singing about is married to his best friend. That's why the song ends with "... something deep inside won't let you wreck your best friends home.".

Creepy song, but great rock song to do: Possum Kingdom by the Toadies (1994)
#TheToadies#PossumKingdom#Vevo
Warning, too much Freddie King may result in permanent stank face.
