I voted for Kate! But I think Rick deserves far more votes for his devotion and willingness to be smacked in the face by tree branches. Well done Rick! Well done everyone!
Next challenge. Return to base. All 4 challengers dropped in separate locations and need to return to the a central base before the others. To truely make it a challenge they are not told where they are dropped off. Using a map and compass they need to find out where they are and how to get back. Depending on how good Andy’s map skills are it could even the playing field a bit more. It’s a challenge that I used to use a scout back in the days when you could drop a group of kids in the middle of nowhere on their own
Challenge Idea: go plogging! Set a distance, grab a garbage bag and start picking up rubbish as you run! Person with the most garbage wins! And bonus points: the environment wins 4 times!
Challenge idea: you should get each participant to sustain a given pace e.g Andy has to see how long he can run for at 3:15mins/km, Kate 3:30 and Anna and Rick 4:45.
I guess I have to go try a strava art run now! Great video, and thanks a million for making me a featured commenter. Gave me a huge boost for crushing my 10k run today!
@@Thegardener87 They prob want to be in London or Manchester then... In the event of a draw, the person who ran the farthest overall distance will take the win, so going very slow at the beginning to gain an advantage, could end up losing you the challenge. The exact route out should be used for returning back to the start. Only one turn is permitted which happens at the 20th minute Filling time up and down streets or doing loops is not allowed.

Challenge: scouts/explorers do a monopoly run around London where you need to go to landmarks in the monopoly board in a time limit. You could have a penalty of 5 minutes added to your time for each landmark they weren't able to get too. Good luck
This was cool! I've been watching the Running Channel from almost the beginning I've noticed that low HR training, particularly Maffetone training (MAF) isn't something that's been covered in much detail (or at all?). I've been running at MAF for 11 months now and it's been the best thing to ever happen to my running. So here's the challenge: one or more of the Running Channel team to commit to training with Maffetone for a 3 month period and to document the journey in a weekly update video. I know it's not the most exciting challenge ever, certainly one that's impossible to do in just one video but I think it would be really interesting to see how different members of the team adapt. It's helped me improve so much and I'm sure it can others as well.
Anna is my true winner! Kates drawing is best, sad to see her go over time:( i just think andy pulled a really dirty one, walking the picture and then running laps! Like anna said, its supposed to be *fun running*

You guys are killing it with your channel. That's awesome. Congrats on all of your success. I get a kick out of a lot of your videos. I love your sense of humor. I haven't mastered that yet. Keep up the great work.
Anna for creativity. Rick for trying hard to get that ball as round as possible and readiness to climb trees to achieve that. Kate for attempting quite a complex piece ( not sure who it was supposed to represent) which looked really promising. Andy for clever planning and execution. Superb performance by each one of you!
I will be staying up for this one here in Australia. I really want to see if my guess's on who did which run was right or not. My guesses are 1. anna 2. andy 3.kate and 4.rick.

I loved all their different tactics. At first when the pictures were posted for voting honestly I was like eh...but now knowing the rules they had to stick to as well they all did great. I’ve competed in exercise art contest before but not with distance, time, and device rules, that’s tough.
My challenge would be Monopoly - you’ve got one hour to run round London visiting as many places as you can on the Monopoly board. The winner is the person who racks up the biggest ‘value’ of properties.
@@sparkey3800 The idea would be to level out the difference in absolute performance & yes Andy would be at a disadvantage ... but he is already well ahead 😁
I voted #2 Rick a participant 🏅. I thought it might have resembled a golf club but said nah, that would have been to simple so I guessed something else. Now this was a very fun challenge, great idea.
The Running Channel Nice video, nice I have a good idea, With knowing Andy (done it in a field) much easier, (no traffic, no people, no cycles etc) Kate, Rick and Anna couldn't jump over a back garden wall (haha) to get a straight line. A poll into who's the best/your favourite one is.
What about checking who know the pace best for example 5km pace's run 1st km 6:30 , 2nd 5:00 , 3rd 6:00 , 4...5:00 , and last 5:30, count seconds difference's (smallest difference wins) U can only use watch to start the challenge and obviously to stop it after 5km
Challenge suggestion. You cast votes each one of you individually how far the other three would reach in 30 minutes and then you take an average of the three votes to get the suggested distance per person. Then you start each one at your given distance and first one to goal line win. Or if you run at different locations just best time vs your set time for the distance win.
The Running Channel Love your video. Have a good idea. All 4 of them ran a 5km race, then ran a (2nd) 5km race later on that day a hour etc later. Closet to there 1st 5km race time wins. But they can't know there first 5km time run (before completing the 2nd 5km run)
I guess some ppl are just really good at going fast. My friend is really great at stuff like jumping high and running fast. While me.... Notttt so muchh!
I really do love your Challenge installments. Maybe you could do a challenge to run the London loop. Break it up into segments and give every one a select amount of time to run the hole thing. Fans could also post there own times to share.
following on from this - you each have to draw the same artwork from very basic and simple instructions but arent aloud to know what you are drawing untill the end.
Challenge idea: MAF training style session for 5 miles. 180 - age = max heart rate each runner can run at (MAF number). Three possible metrics to determine the winner: 1. The runner who walks the least amount of time to keep their heart rate under their MAF number, 2. The runner who keeps their heart rate under their MAF number the most frequently, and/or 3. The runner who has the least amount of change between their normal pace and their MAF pace. Percent change should help equalize everything [(MAF test pace - average non-speed session pace)/average non-speed session pace]
That's so fun! Whenever I go on a bike ride I always try to see if a made a nice art hahaha didn't know it was a thing for the running community as well! :D
Definitely gaining popularity now for runners I think. How do you draw your art? Do you decide on a route beforehand with a shape in mind or make it up as you go along?
@@runningchannel I don't really do it with that much intention tbh, for me it's more like finding shapes in clouds. My favorite bike route for example is unintentionally shaped like a hippo... if I add some extra kms it grows a tail and ends up looking like a crocodile hahaha
A 10k run where your last 5km are faster than your first 5km, a point for each so a maximum of 5 points. Example km1 10 minutes km6 9 minutes and so on. You would have to have a maximum time to do it in dependant on your individual 10k results. Hope that makes sense 👍 Alternatively you could just do last one to the pub buys the drinks 😆
Hi guys, challenge accepted thought. How about a handicap 10 or 5 km race, where the faster presenters have either times added to their running or start at a later time to equalise the runners. A track run could be good to see if the faster runners could catch the 🐢 Rick....😁
Challenge idea (if it hasn't been mentioned already): run a 5K backwards and see who can do it the fastest with. They could pre-choose a safe, uncrowded route and get to look back maximum of 3 times. :)
My Challenge suggestion is a backyard ultra, each in their own backyard but obviously running the same distance per hour, lets say 6km in the hour with rest and aid for the remaining minutes of that hour, then on to the next 6km and so on and so forth...similar to Anna's backyard marathon but until the last man/woman is standing.
challenge idea: a geoguessr/treasure hunt. supplied with images of somewhat recognisable locations, you have to run and find as many as you can against the clock.
We love this idea and are working on putting something together now. Would you like to film a video introduction for us? If you email community@therunningchannel.com I can send you full details. Thanks, Sarah
You could try a MapRun F course. They are virtual orienteering courses you run at any time using the Map Run F app. There are courses for South London in Battersy, Richmond and Wimbledon. They are score events where you have a number of control points and a set time to get to as many points as you can, with penalty points if you go over time.
You should add a title to each particpanta drawing naming what the end result picture was supposed to portray. I was left wondering what the heck most of the participants drawings were supposed to represent???
Challenge Idea: 5K + 5K does it equal 10K - have each person run two 5K runs (without watches over two days) and then run a 10K a few days later. the person with the closest combined 5K times to the 10K time wins. Runs should be on known routes with measured distances so no need for folks to pace themselves on their watches. This is old school run pacing on your own feeling.
challenge idea - dropped in different locations that are all the same distance from one central location and see how fast and if each person can make it back to the central location first. For social distancing, they could do this on separate days or have different central points that are just the same distance as to were they are dropped.
Challenge idea Who can run the fastest 5km the whole time backwards. The challenge being because you can only see what's technically behind (infront depending on how you look at this challenge by occasionally turning your head) those who are normally faster runners (looking at Andy or Kate here) have to care about their surroundings a bit more than normal. This may give Anna and Rick more of a chance to gain some points as all parties are a bit more equal here 😜
Wow,...cool drawings. Inspired me to get out there and draw something. Next challenge- eat a full italian dinner and everyone runs a 10k. Last one to vomit wins.
Another challenge suggestion. Who can cover a 10km at the most deliberately slowest 'running distance' What I mean by this is the runners all have to be faster than walking pace but who can 'run' 10km deliberately the slowest. May be harder than it sounds as you always have to maintain a faster than walking pace but you also cannot speed up. It will take concentration and patience vs speed - another one where the 'slower' two may have an advantage over the 'faster' two 😉
Downhill Challenge: Without travelling more than 25 miles to a location, plot a 5K with the most downhill element. Points for most decrease in elevation or overall drop, and lastly points for largest improvement over the participant's 2019 best 5K time.
Great video. Next challenge could be a bit like biathlon. Every runner needs to do five laps in a 5k run. After every lap they need to pause to throw five balls into five buckets (one ball per bucket). Every time the runners miss a bucket they need to go on a penalty lap of 100m.
Next challenge : Greenwich Park Royal observatory to the o2 arena... Time handicap % and added time for the amount of museums and laps of cutty sark done .
Challenge idea: You are all dropped off 5km from a target location. However, you have not had the opportunity to plan your route. Who can make it to the target the fastest without gps, maps, asking for directions, or any other assistance.
Chunder Mile, 4 pints (or equivalent), 4 laps of 400m each. Two teams of two, one person drinks and then runs, tags partner and they do the same. Recovery is while your partner goes.
Distance runners try sprinting! I run do both and I would love to see what times everyone would get in a 100-200m dash! Or you could try a 4x100 relay!
Would love to see a climb a mountain challenge. With a handicap time each runs to the top of a steep mountain. It doesn’t have to be a UTB type mountain but at least 10km and a decent gradient. This way it is like the hare and turtle type race and the challenge for the faster runners to see the tortoise and chase them down.
Next challenge: On a track, see who can run the fastest 800m. THE TWIST: each team has 2 members, winner of the previous challenge chooses his team member first. Each team member has to run 400m (one lap). YOU HAVE TO RUN BACKWARDS.
Hey Eloise. We LOVE this idea. Could you email us at community@therunningchannel.com please as we really want to feature you (and your idea) in our next episode! Thanks, Anna

Runs should be on known routes with measured distances so no need for folks to pace themselves on their watches. This is old school run pacing on your own feeling.
Thanks for the suggestion Robert!
Well done Andy!!!! Never thought it was you who did number 4,even though I voted for it! 😃😃😃 Well done everyone!👏
Haha thank you!
challenge idea - dropped in different locations that are all the same distance from one central location and see how fast and if each person can make it back to the central location first. For social distancing, they could do this on separate days or have different central points that are just the same distance as to were they are dropped.
This sounds like a lot of fun!
What great fun! We enjoyed watching the process. Have tried myself but nowhere near worth mentioning.
Glad you enjoyed it 👌
Challenge idea
Who can run the fastest 5km the whole time backwards.
The challenge being because you can only see what's technically behind (infront depending on how you look at this challenge by occasionally turning your head) those who are normally faster runners (looking at Andy or Kate here) have to care about their surroundings a bit more than normal. This may give Anna and Rick more of a chance to gain some points as all parties are a bit more equal here 😜
Thanks for the suggestion James 🙂
Wow,...cool drawings. Inspired me to get out there and draw something. Next challenge- eat a full italian dinner and everyone runs a 10k. Last one to vomit wins.
Haha 😂
Another challenge suggestion. Who can cover a 10km at the most deliberately slowest 'running distance'
What I mean by this is the runners all have to be faster than walking pace but who can 'run' 10km deliberately the slowest. May be harder than it sounds as you always have to maintain a faster than walking pace but you also cannot speed up. It will take concentration and patience vs speed - another one where the 'slower' two may have an advantage over the 'faster' two 😉
Nice, thanks James!
Great idea, thanks!
Wow makes me appreciate Jerics amazing strata art even more.
Haha yep Jeric is a great artist 👌
I'd like to see something with a strength component... Who can run the most flights of stairs in 30 minutes!
Great suggestion, thanks Lisa!
Challenge idea: finish as many Strava segments as possible during one run
Next challenge : Greenwich Park Royal observatory to the o2 arena... Time handicap % and added time for the amount of museums and laps of cutty sark done .
4:38 thats the place storror did a parkour video on that black pole
Who can run for the longest? That's my idea. Hope you like it
Niiiice! Who do you think would win that one?
@@runningchannel Hmm I think maybe Rick. Because he's good at longer runs
Not ultra runner Anna??
@@runningchannel I think Rick just might beat her. But I do think Anna is really good at longer distances too
@@willsmallwood4105 Could be aha
Love Strava Art - go Anna
Challenge idea: You are all dropped off 5km from a target location. However, you have not had the opportunity to plan your route. Who can make it to the target the fastest without gps, maps, asking for directions, or any other assistance.
Do they have a sextant at least?
John Airey they can carry a globe!!!
Chunder Mile, 4 pints (or equivalent), 4 laps of 400m each. Two teams of two, one person drinks and then runs, tags partner and they do the same. Recovery is while your partner goes.
🤢
Distance runners try sprinting! I run do both and I would love to see what times everyone would get in a 100-200m dash! Or you could try a 4x100 relay!
Nice, thanks!
Funny but OK so you all win coze you done it !@@ Congratulations for all of you 🏆🏆🏆🌟👊💪😉👍😜🥰
Thank you 😁
I really love these!
I don’t get how to can be that coordinated
I like how only one person did it without sneakily cheating the rules
I love this series it’s so much fun to watch
Thanks Corrie!
who can do the fastest beer mile
Finally one Anna might get one over on Andy on!
Great suggestion, thank you!
Challenge: try to get the most high five out of a 5k run, participant choose the course! (Due to COVID, maybe virtual high five). 🏃♀️
Air fives!
The sight of her running vest jumping and flapping is giving me anxiety :D
Good challenge folks.
And congratulations Andy 👍
🏆 there’s not stopping him!!
I absolutely love this idea! I might need to give this a try 🙌
You should!
