Thanks Numi. I think we'll know more once or if T Parliament approves the measure as proposed. If it's watered down, the markets are likely to react little is my guess.
Yes I have to myself agree with you. I collect only up to 1974, that being the last one that I am only interested in. I may sometime get the new ST George and Dragon type, but they are so over priced, its held me back. I am more interested in the half sovereign, and very interested in the Australian types, mintage figures being very low. And I do love finding over dates, which are much rarer then then the full sovereign.
i really like the pre 1850 sovs, i have found 1 full victorian, 1 half victorian soverign with my detector, so im planning to buy some ms61 or even ef or au pre 1850 sovs, i really like the bunhead design . i also like the widdow head ones. thanks for sharing numi.
A great video showing the importance of buying the coin, not the case... I have a coin worth about 60 bucks, but if you were to purchase based solely off what the PCGS label says, it’d be worth about a grand.
Great show of the various types of the "bland" (to some) sovereign ! I love them, as the traditional design throughout history may seem at first "bland" but look deeper into them, the variations are truly enormous. Interesting to note that all those proofs were in plastic envelopes and not capsules, is there any reason for that?
I find the sovereigns very intriguing and cool they have so much history…. After my first 20 coin air-tite tube of 1/10 Britannias and Eagles gonna do Sovereigns also because they are unique over here but not unknown
You've got me interested enough that I've just ordered my first few Sovereigns, random selection bullion coins. I'll probably start building a collection from there.
@@Numistacker Aaannd they're in! One Victoria, (1891) One Edward VII (1906) Five George V (1911; two 1913; 1925; 1931) Nine Elizabeth II (seven 1958; 1966; 2011)
Sovereigns are great coins with huge history. I think even hammered versions exist that were one of the largest coins at that time. It would be interesting to see how Britannia goes as it was possibly the replacement for standardized international bullion saving in 1987
Hi Numi, finally got my up load of my strike your own sovereign, please take a look, they are going to be very sought after by Sovereign collectors. Been watching for ages and learned loads from you, and now doing my bit for you tube.
i have a vast array of coins, im more of a collector......but now im a serious stacker, im going to sell my old coins and invest in the 1/10 and 1/14 golds, the odd silver commemoratives, like the silver eagles, kookaburras, snakes and george 111 half crowns, the bullhead is another of my favs, i have a few of those ...
I think the sovereigns are a beautiful coin. I don’t have one yet but it’s on my PM bucket list. I’m still learning, so thank you for this educational video Numi 😊
I’ll add almost everyone knows what a sovereign is, even those uninterested in coins, at least here in Australia. I’d bet if I put a sovereign next to my PM lunars most would have no idea about the lunar but would recognise the sovereign. Things might have changed over the last few years with a lot of new people getting into stacking rather than collecting but the history of the sovereign makes it pretty appealing over modern coins imo. Really can’t see how you could go wrong collecting sovereigns even if your reason is to stack and just own gold, there will always be a demand you may just have to find the right liquidity options rather than just walk into a bullion dealer. Anyway just my thoughts
With a very limited budget I really can't get many gold coins, however, I do want to own at least one Sovereign at some time soon. I love coin designs so I have the French Lucky Angel and just ordered the French Rooster coin. I really want a 4 Ducat coin also... and one day... a Sovereign... It will happen... So far I only have 25 gold coins... I don't have any American gold, but a few of Perth Mint gold.
@@paganphil100 well Philip... I gave up going out to lunch with the girls... and all entertainment other than Netflix... Anyone can have gold if they make it a priority. I also sold some of my personal jewelry and so... now I have 29 gold coins :)

do you think gold could ever get to 5k an oz?nor even 3k an oz? i try to keep up with world ecconomics and world news stories that effect the precious metals price but i wonder what you think gold could do....in regards to hitting a high for the price per oz. thanks
Can you recommend a good source for info on what dealers are paying for coins? I use the Blue Book for American silver but I don't know of anything which covers gold or foreign coins.
Hi, i love sovereigns, its all i collect now, howmuch would you say a 1999 half proof is worth, ? I paid £135 with the box and COA? Is that a fair price thank yoh
What makes a sovereign so special. Honestly I think it's pretty bland it's just a simple design. Compared to some of the American gold eagles much more design and detail goes into the coin
The American Gold Eagle is highly desirable. The sovereign is special because it has massive variety, minted all over the world, about 12 different monarch portraits. Massively difficult to find world Rarities. Lots of stories and folklore...
Special year? What a load of nonsense. Each coin should be worth the same amount. If not the entire thing is pointless. The only thing that should make it worth more is the coins age. “Special year” 😂 🙄
I just bought my first sheildback 1843 400 quid cash well happy 😊
Beautiful coins Numi. I think you are exactly right. The Sovereigns are the best small sied gold coin!
Lovely to hear from you sal. Do you think Brexit is going to raise the gold price?
Thanks Numi. I think we'll know more once or if T Parliament approves the measure as proposed. If it's watered down, the markets are likely to react little is my guess.
I agree, every collector should have at least one Sovereign. Personally I love the older ones, but all of them have so much history.
Larry Stendebach Hi Larry! I follow your channel too. I particularly enjoyed the vid on the Morgan dollar garage sale hoard you happened upon 😉

My favorite coins are pre-33 US, and sovereigns! I also like the Canadian gold coins from 1912 through 1914
Wow I want a sovereign now. I can't afford to just stack gold, so the idea of proof limited mintage coins is what appeals to me.

500 + year history
They are truly beautiful, im more of a Britannia man myself but still appreciate the sovereigns no doubt. keep up the great work my friend.
Lord Richy I’ve heard that Britannia’s are better if you’re spending over £10.000 and that Sovereigns are better if you’re spending under £5000.

You should get yourself a box cutter, much more convenient than handling a pair of scissors.
