  • We hit the road in the 2024 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD to see if there's any change from when we drove it last, and if you should hold off for the refresh coming later this year.
    PRN_TestDrive has launched an all-new website to compliment our videos! To see more photos and a written review about the vehicles we feature, plus exclusively content not published on RUclips head on over to www.prntestdriv...

    We're checking out the 2024 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD, in two-row configuration to see if the small changes made over the years are good enough to jump into today, or if you should hold off for the 2025 models coming later this year. The 2025 Genesis GV80 introduces a new Coupé model powered by a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric supercharger. The 2025 Genesis GV80 also gets a facelift with new front and rear bumpers, revised grille, updated headlights, and a refreshed interior. A new 27" curved OLED display sits front and centre with an updated steering wheel and HVAC controls.
    We go over why you might want to get into the 2024 we're driving rather than waiting, as we feel the Genesis GV80 really is the perfect mid-size luxury SUV. Some of the changes sound nice on paper, but with a vehicle that's already set a high benchmark, making dramatic changes to key elements that buyers have come to love may negatively impact the experience. Nile and Victor hit the road in this 2024 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD to see what it's about and help you decide if it should be the next luxury SUV for you.

      I think it'll be a mix, some will definitely want to wait but I can see a large number of buyers who'd be interested in a 'simple' setup like this. All depends on what you want.

      Totally agree. And deleting the very handy cubby from under the centre console is a major zonk for us. We have the 2023 model and we use this feature a lot. We wont be upgrading to the new model when our lease is up in a few years.

    For the price of the GV80,Genesis needs to up the horsepower in the 3.5 v6 turbo. C'mon Genesis,the Jaguar F Pace P400 has almost 400 hp with it's 6cyl turbo! And it's lighter. Most all the car dudes know you can tune that engine up and make it produce 450 hp easily. Do you think people who have $90,000 dollars to spend on a SUV are going to care about a few less miles to the gallon! Look at Mazda now. They always made decent cars,but in the last decades they were dogs to drive. They were underpowered. Now,Mazda is stepping up their game. So they're upping the prices,making premium leather interiors,and offering a 340hp turbo 6. Yes,the GV80 is faster than the Mazda CX90. But not by that much! And look at how much more the GV80 cost!
    Step up your game,Genesis,or Mazda will be closing in on GV70 and GV80 sales!

    • @PRNTestDrive

      Fair enough, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    • @GC-kk4et
      @GC-kk4et 5 месяцев назад

      lol the cx90 doesn’t even come close.. I’ve been in both and the Mazda won’t turn heads like a gv80 from neither the interior or exterior. They could make the Mazda faster than the gv80 and it will still not matter. People seriously looking to buy a gv80 will not settle for a Mazda no matter how vroom vroom it goes. Not the same class.

    • @deydrm
      @deydrm 5 месяцев назад

      @@GC-kk4et The Mazda CX90 premium s,top of the line, is $57k at my local dealer. The Genesis GV80 3.5 Prestige signature is $84k.
      That's not a little bit more,that's a huge amount. Now I know the Genesis is alot nicer. That wasn't the point. The point was, The Genesis GV80 3.5 isn't that much faster than the Mazda CX90 when it comes to performance. The jaguar F Pace 400 rdynamic is faster,just as nice as far as luxury,and is $10k cheaper. The Acura MDX sport type s is also $10k cheaper,and it's faster.
      So for the premium price you're paying for the Genesis GV80 3.5,if Genesis want's to stay in the lead, they could up the performance. They haven't made performance upgrades in the last few years. I think it's Burger Motorsports that now offers a tune kit for the G80 and GV80 3.5 turbo. So now were talking 450 hp. That's more like it! Genesis should do this mod.
      The Lap3 tune kits for the G70 3.3 makes 450+ wheel horsepower! With an larger heat exchanger and exhaust mods, they run in the 11.0's

    • @GC-kk4et
      @GC-kk4et 5 месяцев назад

      @@deydrm yeah it's a huge amount again, because it's a different class of vehicle and people who are considering one would rarely consider the other.(GV80 vs cx90).
      The MDX type s is nice, specially the updated version and yes it is faster because it is more performance oriented whereas the GV80 is purely luxury oriented. Both nice cars but with different purposes. Genesis doesn't care about being fast and they don't need to. If you just want a mid size fast SUV there are many faster options than the GV80 for far less money even from mainstream brands like Ford and Dodge, but then you are stuck with a Ford or Dodge if you go for either of those 🤢😂

    • @deydrm
      @deydrm 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@GC-kk4et But all Genesis has to do is retune the engine a bit. That wouldn't cost much at all. At 460 Hp,which is totally doable, now the Genesis GV80 is respectably quick. Then it should beat the Acura MDx s type,and the Jaguar F pace rdynamic 400. If you don't want a fast suv,get the 2.5 turbo version,for less money.
      And add this upgraded engine to the GV70 and wow! For the price,nobody's mid size sport suv will compete.

    Certainly, when the climate control temperature knob is changed there will be a digital readout somewhere to let you know the temp on the 2025! BTW....Genesis got lots of feedback that the 2 spoke steering wheel was lame......thus the change!

      Funny. I remember when I bought an Accord in 1980 and then a Lexus, also when they first came out, I had all these 'car guys' tell me I should have bought a chevy or ford, that that the foreign cars were sh*t.

      I'm not sure about your market, but on the Genesis Canada website there is a 3-Row option for 2024, and a 7 Passenger version for 2025. It's considered a different trim in Canada rather than an optional extra.
