    Removing my bathroom sink faucet pt. 1. Removing the sink pedestal base. Just take an xacto knife and score along all the caulk lines to remove as much caulk as you can before removing the pedestal base. Then you want to loosen the screws of the top sink so that when you move out the pedestal base the sink top will be able to lift itself to allow wiggle room for the pedestal base to be removed.

    Was there something to unfasten or loosen in the back? What did you use to knock the bottom out-your hand, a tool?

    • @ourfamilymaison
      @ourfamilymaison  4 дня назад

      Sorry for the delay! Yes! There were bolts in the back that was holding the top of the pedestal to the wall, we actually just loosened those first, that way when I pulled out the base, the top part of the sink could move and allow the base to be pulled out without the top or base breaking.

    • @ourfamilymaison
      @ourfamilymaison  4 дня назад

      Then ones we loosened the bolts, you can sort of lift the top sink part up, while you slide the base out. Also we took an xacto knife to remove the caulk holding the base to the floor. So make sure you score/remove the caulk before trying to get the base out

    So helpful believe it or not. I didn’t realize that bottom piece can be removed like that. I have the same one in my bathroom. Thanks ❤

      You’re welcome! Just make sure to loosen the bolts on the top sink part first so that the sink can shift while you pull out the base. If you have a helper, they can lift the sink up while you pull the base out.

      The problem that I have is I have trouble loosen thebolts on the top sink. I am wondering if there is some special tools to do that.

    • @ourfamilymaison

      Yay I’m glad! Just make sure you loosen the bolts on the top part of the sink and it’s easier to have someone lift up the top sink while someone slides out the base. Just take an xacto knife to score the caulked lines connecting the pedestal base to the floor and also the caulk line connecting the pedestal to the top sink part

      Glad it could help! Just make sure you loosen the bolts to the top part (the sink) and if you have someone helping you push the sink up while you pull the pedestal out then that would be very helpful

    It’s the little things like removing a pedestal base that makes me so excited 🤣 I think it’s just the satisfaction of trying new things that make me happy.
    I’m currently working on replacing my builder grade faucet in our half bathroom. This is my first time doing so. Honestly, I have no idea what I’m doing half the time. I’m pausing a lot to look up RUclips videos and Google instructions. This is harder than I thought it would be, but I know I’ll get it down. But I’m always up for volunteers. 😂
    Got the pedestal base removed and now I can finally get my hands in there to remove the drain thing (?🫣) and figure out what I need to do to remove the faucet 🤣
    Captions: I’m like scared I’m going to break it. Maybe I shouldn’t remove this…. Do you think I can do it without it? *dog kisses* Oh thank you… *grunts* *struggles* *sigh laughing* That scared me. Oh I did it! Oh my gosh! Yay!! I did it!

      Guuuurl. I need the motivation. Bought a new vanity set 2 years ago. I've been putting it off because I'm afraid to make a mess of it. Or flood the bathroom trying to replace it. But the house is falling apart bit by bit. A girl's gotta fix things up. I'd love a lovely furry assistant to help me out as well. ❤🕯

    You wouldn't have been able to even budge my sink base. Builder set with silicone that cured over years.

    • @ourfamilymaison
      @ourfamilymaison  Год назад +1

      Were you able to cut your silicone caulk? That’s what I did with mine, but it just took a couple of pills 😂

    • @mugentuner
      @mugentuner Год назад

      @@ourfamilymaison Yes. They siliconed the rear of the sink to tile wall and also the base. Was a real pain to cut through. It wasn't just silicone around the perimeter which would have been easy to score through. At least I got both pieces free in the end.

      I don't wanna do it because it seems like a hassle to rip it out just to change the drain and then put it back in when I don't even like it and would rather have a vanity with closed storage.
