In order to remove all of the tiles from the wall we need to remove the basin. This video shows how to remove a basin. Brought to you by www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/for...
Before watching this video I did this yesterday, glad to say I followed your instructions to a T... replaced a really grubby basin waste plus the taps! Thanks for putting me at ease with what I did.
just before you install new taps you might think of putting in isolatation valves in just hide them behind the pedistool there very use full and you dont have turn off the water at the mains or effect every other tap :)
@ultimatehandyman thought id say it before everythings done in case you didnt have the vanity unit ;) wasnt that long since you started it your cracking through it at a good speed then ;) faster than anyother people :) a bargain indeed :)
@ultimatehandyman never heard of a vanity unit. i learnt it a college last week with all of the new build they have to be fitted with an isotation valve its a good idea to be honest :) id thought id give you a little pointer for the future preference ;)
Is this a typical English faucet set up. Because here in America our supply lines are usually braded, plastic and sometimes copper, connected to angelstops. And we have p-traps for our drains. Never seen a drain like that. It looks like it has a clean out on the back?
This is common in older houses, but modern houses normally have a single tap (faucet), which is connected to two braided flexible tap connectors, example here- ruclips.net/video/a2prr9ZiFxA/видео.html Yes, Some traps have a cap that you can unscrew to clear blockages- bit.ly/2PXMUSl You can also get bottle traps, which can simply be unscrewed to clear blockages- bit.ly/2NxF2dA Thanks for the comment
Another beauty of a video. When putting the new basin in, would you use the existing plugs in the wall, or would you remove them and replace with new? Is it difficult sometimes to get the old wall plugs out?
My basin after removing the screws is stuck fast with glue it's not shifting, how do I tackle that? I don't intend to redo the tiling need some advice.
It's difficult when it's been stuck with something. You might be able to break the bond by cutting through the adhesive using a large hacksaw blade or similar and by carefully applying up and down pressure to the basin.
I think it was because the basin was stuck to the tiles using silicone. The tile adhesive was probably just ready mixed stuff out of a tub, so the bond between the basin and tiles was the strongest bond. Best of luck with the plumber training ;-)
No, it is there to prevent the pipes from ever becoming live, in the event of an electric cable touching the metal pipework. This should explain it- www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/how-to/earthing-and-bonding/supplementary-equipotential-bonding You'd have to check the latest regulations, as I have a vague recollection that it is no longer necessary in some situations.
@ultimatehandyman ahh just up load all videos in a couple of weeks so it looks like youve done it in short space of time ;) good thinking ;) haha yea it does take quite a while editing and uploading videos but if you wasnt videoing you could just crack on and dont have to worry about the camera been able to see you :) please do i enjoy these videos :)
Sometimes you have to cut the plasterboard back to the studs and insert a new piece, or if a basin is being re-fitted you can fix a piece of WBP ply in its place 👍 Or you can do something like this for smaller holes- ruclips.net/video/fFJICiX7DDk/видео.html&t

Great videos you have helped me so much!! I have a question - why do you need to cut the pipe to add the push fit stop end?

Is good to spray wd40 on silicone before you cut it. In breaks silicone and gives knife a slip

Thank You Ultimate Handy MAN!! Much appreciated. Cheers
@ultimatehandyman Understood - so I could cap the pipes off as they were if I wanted?
@ultimatehandyman never heard of a vanity unit. i learnt it a college last week with all of the new build they have to be fitted with an isotation valve its a good idea to be honest :) id thought id give you a little pointer for the future preference ;)

Thanks, I'm not sure to be honest as it is about 25 years old. I don't think it has a name on it!
That's very useful vid thanks. Do you have a vid that shows how to put the new vanity basin back on?

You can use the existing plugs, if the holes align.
Removing them is easy- ruclips.net/video/Nk1CJ8LQIAM/видео.html
👍

Heat gun to soften the adhesive. Then it should be easier to remove without ruining the tile.
Ace! Thank you!
You are welcome

Hi, I'm a plumber in training. What caused the tiles to come away with the basin? Was it glued? (Brilliant videos by the way, learning a lot) :)
I think it was because the basin was stuck to the tiles using silicone. The tile adhesive was probably just ready mixed stuff out of a tub, so the bond between the basin and tiles was the strongest bond.

Hello is it okay to leave the isolation valve off and not capping them like you did here?
Yes, providing you can be certain that nobody will catch the valve (if it has a handle) 👍
Why were you cutting the pipe? I’m a beginner learning but s this standard to cut the pipe?
If you are refitting a basin, you don't need to cut the pipes.
I was fitting a vanity unit, so had to cut the pipes to fit
Thanks for the comment 👍
When removing earth clamps do you have to turn mains electric off? Forgive me if that's a stupid question! lol
No, it will be fine to remove them with the electric switched on, but they should be reinstated as soon as possible.
Thanks for the comment
Ultimate Handyman Thanks. Does that mean they should be put on each (?) pipe before putting new taps on?
hi great job. what are those yellow/green copper cables for? no electricity needed right? sorry, noob here. thanks
No, it is there to prevent the pipes from ever becoming live, in the event of an electric cable touching the metal pipework.

Why the push fit stop cap for the sink and elbow things for the bath removal?
The push fit stop ends mean you can quickly turn the isolated water back on.
Thanks for the comment
So could I use push fit stop ends on the bath pipes after removal?
Yes, no problem at all.
Thanks
Remember also folks to open the taps downstairs open the upstairs taps to allow the water to drain down. :)
How did you cap the 2 water pipes? Thks
I used two John Guest-Speedfit stop ends 👍
وجود اسلاك كهرباء موصولة بانابيب النحاس ما الغرض منها ؟؟

What gloves are you wearing and how much does it cost?? It looks pretty comfortable and very handy lol cheers
Look like Showa 265R Assembly Grip Lite Gloves, I use them at work.
how tall are you if you don't mind me asking
+John Jones
5' 11" the last time I was measured. I might have shrunk since then LOL
Thanks
You are welcome.
Thanks for the comment
Why did you cut the pipes so far down?
I was replacing the basin with a vanity unit 👍
So what if your not on a combi system ??
There should be some isolating valves somewhere, possibly near to the immersion heater tank (but could be anywhere).
Thanks

Hi mate i have a question,if the sink is attached to a plasterboard is it possible to fill a hole like you made please
