Dan, This is one of your dream cars you are building for yourself, go the extra mile. You have access to the frame, clean it, and paint it real nice while you are waiting for sheet metal...get crazy and make it nice...A series where you put the nice touches on a car would be different AND it's a car you are keeping so why not?

We made a side roll body stand years ago, for a '70 Chevelle. Two 10' sticks of 3" exhaust pipe, bent in the center at 90 degrees, tied together with three 10' sticks of 2" exhaust pipe. Some fabbed up mounts to bolt it and the body together, and shazam! We could at least roll it on it side to clean up the underside, mighty handy to have back when my knees still bent a little.

I took thr body off my 1970 442 completely by myself using 4 floor jacks, blocks of 2x4, 4 hd jackstands and 4 2x14 about 12 foot long each. Started dropping front of the frame while supporting the body with rhe 2x4 until the long boards would slide under the rockers to a jackstand on each side set up wider than the frame on outside of the body. Same procedure for the rear until frame was laying on the ground. A piece of cardboard under the front crossmember where engine mounts go. Cardboard allowed me to drag the frame out from the back. All by myself. New frame all painted pretty and all new floorboards installed, reassembly was exact opposite of how it came apart. Easy peasy.
