- Full Custom Ian Completes Fabrication On The 1940's Chevy Chop Top Sail Panel And It's Out The Door
In this episode of the 1940 ish chop top, Full Custom Ian mediated potential mega stress in the sail panel to accomplish the end result of the chop top.
We had a wind event out here in the wild Mojave Desert, and it ruined, or almost ruined one of Ian's projects, a 1941 Chevy Coupe body. The roof was beyond reparable, but Dave from @RileyRestorations came to the rescue with a 1941 Chevy Sedan. The rest is chop top history in the garage in Mojave.
Ian is getting in the metal work on this beauty, and is creating art and showing just how involved metal working and sculpting can be

Hey all! We dropped this video late last night...well not late late, but around 7:30 pm PST We were really excited to show you the sail panel fix and talk about CaddyWhacked. Remember to check if you are * SUBSCRIBED, COMMENT, LIKE and SHARE! * We are pushing for 100K by the end of February to celebrate on year fully on RUclips! Jamie was encouraged by a fellow youtuber early last year to just pick up the camera and GO! And that is what we did! Our first VERY GRAINY video was posted in February 2023! What a wonderful year it has been for The Roussel's! Without our community our channel wouldn't exist! We are getting close to 100K! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for looking out for your subscribers. There are so many scammers out there.
Me too. Should they be flagged/reported?
I subscribed a long time ago and I've been watching you for many years
This one of those scams..
I reported one of them.
still the ONLY car restoration show i can watch, no drama, stupid music, intentionally stupid hairsttyles, just education, inspiration and some one enjoying the work, thanks ian
You said it for me. Thank you. So relaxing to watch Ian work.
And he doesn't push a sponsors product either!
even that i can take to SOME degree, because some folks DO have to support their efforts, but only when actually using the product, not just 'heres a good time to talk about wilson's sugary cheese snack !"...yep, ian does us right..@@charliesgrumma5388
Exactly. A Prime example is Graveyard Cars. I LOVE the cars, and cannot stand to watch 3 minutes of that show. All that time Wasted with Goofy, dramatic, Stupid CRAP that is NOT Funny nor entertaining.
The only wish i have is that the show must be everyday. Love wathing this channel
Just getting free content from Jamie and Ian is a gift in itself thank you both for all you do.
Thank you!
I think what makes the channel work so well is the fact that both ian and jamie are humble and caring of their community.
I love to watch ian work as i live vicariously through him to get the fill of building cars that i used to love doing myself over 15 years ago i dont get to do that anymore unfortunately so i enjoy watching a talented builder that of ian create some one of a kind vehicles.
I would love to meet both ian and jamie one day but living in uk and struggling with funds to travel abroad thats probably not going to happen.
Thankyou to the both of you for getting me out of my slump of anxiety and depression both of you bring a well deserved smile to my day and i sincerely Thankyou!
With all the bad people in the world, it’s comforting to know there are two good people out there. Great work Ian and Jamie
Chad is bad. It's in his name.
I admire how you keep you shop so clean looking with all the body work and grinding you do. The music at about 30 min's is great.
This is why I call this channel the "learning channel". Thanks for the real goods on metal fab!
Y'all are literally the first channel I go to and I've been anxiously awaiting another video since Sunday❤ there's quite a few I watched but there's only a select few that have real content and complete candor throughout😊
I never get tired of watching this pair in the shop
I've been a fan since seeing you on Monster House. Ian you are a man of skill and talent with vision. And I cannot forget Jamie, you as well have talent. Your video and editing skills are top notch. What I like most about your videos is Ian not running around the shop looking for tools for half the video like some other guy out there. Both of you keep up the great work. A big fan from Massachusetts.
I like most of the people watching are not going to chop a top off a car anytime soon and watch your videos for entertainment.
Having said that your technical advice ring in my ears as I fiberglass and body fill my Dolphin sculpture. I am sure you will appreciate that your voice crosses over to artistic endeavours. Much enjoy your youtube channel
I love how your goggles are connected to your “ear muffs”. Very clever!!
My past viewing of other channels has left me with a sour taste for using a grinder to cut metal, you sir handle one as a skilled surgeon would a scalpel. It is a pleasure to watch you sculpt with your tools, talent, and craftsmanship. Now if I could only find someone to change my hate for using channel lock pliers as a go to instead of proper wrenches. Thanks for the great video's, all the best to you.....RF
Nice to see a chapter when your enjoying your selfs and been funny for the rest of the world to relax and know that is ok..
I'm not a car person. I don't build, customize or create anything like you do. But... I do enjoy watching what you do and learn things. It's refreshing to watch someone who is genuinely real and talented. Keep doing what you do and being who you are.... And your lovely wife does a fabulous job and asks the questions I probably would... Cheers
Thank you! We are glad you are here!
I genuinely love having so much content from you guys. I learn so much from Ian and I really enjoy the husband wife interaction. Well wishes to you both. Can't wait to see that Caddy and what Victor has in mind!
It's called CUSTOM for a reason 👍
There are no mis-cuts. It's all about having the skills to recover 💪
I've been learning a lot.
Thank you for sharing.
Well said!
Ian and Jamie, I have been a fan since the beginning. But I think your productions on you tube are the best! The love you two have for each other makes it fun to watch!!! On your jeep, I hope you hone the block, ring the pistons, and lap the valves! That will surprise you on how smooth it will run. The old continental was a great engine! Worked on a lot of them 30-40 years ago. Thanks for making such great content! -Jim
Hey Jim! Thank you! We definitely are best friends and happy it shines through! We waited a looong time for each other and married within a month! We are both excited for the jeep and have gotten some pretty amazing care packages for it already! We will share with you when we video the jeep this week! Thank you for watching! ~ Jamie
Thanks for getting back to me! Was a fire dept. Medic for many years and have a son that is a cardiac nurse, so I'm glad you are doing this now! No fun anymore in medical field!!!!
I have been watching you for years on TV and the web , your just great, so many others do,cars and custom work but your the only one that does such outrageous designs and you finish them , they all run and your a mechanic also , keep,up the great ideas!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I wish had a positive person like you that I could learn from you are truly a grand master of custom rides you build
Firstly I must say you're an absolute master at your trade ian, as a weekend custom van builder, I know how difficult the work is, but you make it look effortless, a true master.. I first became fascinated with your work back in full custom garage days on Victor's projects, I.e the bubble top, the advertising van, and the fiberglass sports car, I was going through a rough time in my life back then, but I used your videos of inspiration to help me escape a very dark time, you're a true pleasure to watch ian, the layed back, calm demeanour brings relaxation and peace, whilst learning and watching my weekend passion of van building.. keep up the good work ian, God bless you.
Always impressed when watching Ian working sheet metal, an excelent demonstration using the self tappers to remove the pucker. Looking great !
Greetings from South Carolina...funny you said the scam thing! Just got one today... saying or pretending they were you guys. Thanking me for being a long time subscriber, friend of the show, etc. etc wanting to have a long conversation to get to know me!!?? Tried to find the source?? Couldn't do it. Warning to all fans of these 2 good people ..WATCH OUT! It's a shame bad people try to wreck a good thing.
Don't believe it unless you hear it come straight from the horses mouth.
Sometimes the fox wears a horses costume@@michaelbristol6467
I got that one too. Warned Ian and Jamie and reported as spam
@@mickeysick 👍✌️
I had one two
I’ve been learning metal fab ,self taught, and soaking up everything available. Your work is different from some although satisfying results follow out. Will wait for your next video
In the end…. Satisfying yourself with an outcome is the best reward from one work.
I’d like to see Ian give a tutorial on the settings on the welder including the various styles of welding.
He's done that on some of his earlier videos in the beginning. Go back and watch if you missed them. 😉✌
We can certainly do that again for you! No problem!
@@fullcustomIan thanks so much
Ian's knowledge and artistry are simply amazing. I am not a mechanically inclined person, but I cannot stop watching him. Also comes across as such such a genuine, patient and kind person. And interactions between Ian and Jamie on the videos are always so uplifting. It is such a joy to see these series of videos. Carry on, Ian and Jamie. You provide a lot of simple and enjoyable moments to followers like me. Take care and watch out for those metal edges, they can inflict pain.
I would dearly love seeing Victor on this channel, "It's got a piece of my shoe" waa the funniest thing I've ever heard from him. You both are great together.
I can't wait to see what crazy ideas Victor has for the Caddywack!!!! Its pretty crazy looking already, and you and Victor are going to make it even crazier? I always loved watching you two collaborate on projects. Can't wait for more.
Just love how you show the whole process. A lot can be learned from these videos. Thanks
Ian and Jamie I have a good friend who is going to be making the Volkswagen pickup truck that you made with Johnny jalopy as a Hot Wheel if anybody wants to see it it's going to be on Maple Leaf Customs next month I sent him a picture of the truck and he says he wants to try to make it and I will send a picture of it when it's finished to your Instagram page I love your Channel keep up the great work God bless😊
Best looking Caddy I have seen! I can't wait to see what you guys do to it. Knowing your past work together I can imagine.❤
Ian, I thoroughly enjoy all of your hard work. I watch all of your tv shows and was pleasantly surprised when you started your RUclips channel. I watch and follow a lot of channels where mechanics and fabricators make great projects come to life. The difference I see with you is you are an artist. It is truly remarkable how you can see and then create your vision. You don’t just bolt on or fabricate replacement parts, you create. That is a talent that is rare. I’m actually watching this episode on my tv while I type this comment. Love Jaimie’s (if spelling is not correct my apologies) camera work and her interaction with you. It is awesome the interest she shows in your efforts to create these unique vehicles. I look forward to watching as you finish products and seeing what your mind comes up with in the future. A fan and subscriber from SC. 🤙😎
Love watching you guys. Learn a lot, even at 73 years old.
I'm short. I put lift stilts on once and saw all the dust on top of my refrigerator. I then realized how much I liked being short.
LoL 😆
You too are very calming to watch . I love metal working only getting to do it once in a while i learn a ton from your show 😌I do custom hotrod interiors for a living and lots of what you do Ian applies to my work . Loads of wood work fiber , glass metal leather and hours of time on a sewing machine . Welding is much more fun 😀 Thsnk you so much for your show God bless you guys 🙏
Always on it 😁 I think you are doing such an amazing job with the videos and it shows! Plus your banter back and forth is so much fun 😁
This guy is absolutely the greatest I wish I had enough of talent to even come close to doing the things he does it would be so much fun
Thank you for sharing Ian’s talents. Watched all his motor trend videos. Your RUclips channel is even better. So happy I found it.
Thanks so much for not taking another week of showing us welding and grinding. I think this is a great build and is going to make a pretty good finished auto. Thanks for sharing with us.
It’s so good to see the time lapse filming on Ian’s tack welding. Thanks Jamie!
It is so interesting watching the “walk through “ in problem solving. With FCG, we get on overview, but here we get “reality”🤠.
Y’all are fun folks, and an inspiration to watch. Thanks for all you do👍🏽
This really is the reality of real 😂😂😂 We can't make this stuff up!
Thanks for the warning. I seen you on TV doing a complete belt on a car an i never seen any episode finishing it. It looked awesome after you finished the belt an i wouldve loved to see the finished car. Love your work an the way you keep it simple.
Oh my goodness that roof job was an awesome job. You had me all dazed and confused thru the build... Until I wasn't!😅😅 It came together fast and that's where I realised all the spot welding was required to button up the dang panels together! 😮😊
I love curves NOW 🤩
It's good stuff!
You are ingenious Ian thank you for sharing your videos and visions
I can't agree more with the other commets about this being the very best car repair/fabrication show out there. I don't get all of the broadcast episodes but I thoroughly enjoy watching and learning from your work wherever I find it. Thanks for doing these for us!
You are welcome! We will keep them coming! It’s so much fun for us to make them!
Thank you for the lessons in body work, welding and fabrication. That caddy is super cool in some ugly ass way. I bet between you and Victor it will turn out awesome. The music while Ian was welding reminded me of being in a video arcade back in the 1970s, brought a smile to my face.
You rock man y'all are the salt of this world without it be boring.....
As you said comment, well I love your show before you shifted to the desert,on you tube your old show pop up,so I glad when you do your own videos, love your desert view and please that your partner gets involved, keep up the good work ,I have to get around and buy your,T shirts, good video.from down under.Australian.
You and your Jamie are precious to me . I Love your content. Ian You are amazing!!! You remind me of my Auto Mechanics Tech teacher, you explain things very well. I would love to come to California to visit and learn more about custom car building. And check out your Ranch. I grew up on Parker Ranch and worked with Cattle and Horses. Ranching is still in my blood.
I'm the grandchild of the very 1st veterinarian on my Island
and he specialized in large bovine animals.
Keep up the good work Ian and Jamie.🎉
Aloha from Hawai'i,
Mama Leigh

Y'all make me crazy jumping from project to project, AND I LIKE IT!!! Keep it up.
I look forward to watching y'all to see what kind of funky call you're going to build
I like the fact that you form the metal ,instead of. Filling the dips with body filler before painting..
Thank you for making your videos are fun not only to watch but educational too. I enjoy the very much.
You both work together so well. It’s always a pleasure watching you two with the questions and answers. So a day without Jamie and Ian is like a day without sunshine. Ian your technical teaching is second to none.
Zep Industrial Purple Degreaser also known as Morado. Thanks for using that product guys. I recommend it all of the time for grease and oil. Love watching how fearless you are with your creations.
As always, Ian is a metal whisperer! Looking forward to Victor and the Caddy. I enjoy Jamie on the camera. While you two are talking it is like we are right there with you.
Hello Ian, hello wife I hope you guys are doing well. I haven’t been watching your videos. I’ve been in the hospital for a month and a half. I am now starting to watch them. I am home now. I had a heart attack. Everything’s good. Do what you do best fabricate Keep him in line. Have a good day. Talk to you soon.
More good ideas from America's Master Metal Crafter. Thanks for sharing Ian.
It's very cool to wake up a 5 in the morning on a Saturday and see an Ian video in que. That caddy definitely looks interesting
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey guys, keep up the good work. Ian great call on moving over to the Caddy. The Chevy was starting to lose steam. Hopefully, one day we will see it completely finished. Jamie, loving you girl. The videos keep getting better and better.
Can’t wait to see what you and victor come up with for the caddy
Can't really see you buying a vehicle and not modifying it somehow, Ian. Keep on being

I love how well you mix together ❤
Enjoy how you explain as you go. You keep doing what you do.
So looking forward to seeing Victor again!
Hi, there is Mr Roussel...and the others. The fact is Ian stays in the love of customizing everything on wheels, and he just does it with his eye and hands !! So, where's the Dog?
You’re amazing Ian!!! Hope you keep filming your tv show and making content here!!!
Great to see Victor on board with such a cool project. That caddy looks sick already. Cant wait to see the transformation.
Love your channel Ian!!! Love watching your mind work!! Thanks for sharing!!
Dope video, looking forward to the caddy project. Gracias for sharing. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Roof came out nice, looks like it needs a strip about 1 inch wide with a curve stretched or shrunk into it to match the boot line to the rear window. Then either use the edge of it for the body line, or fold a body line crease into it.
Excellent cheers guys night 😊
Thank you Ian,you are a great teacher.
I love it I learn so much watching your videos thanks for sharing stay safe out there
The Caddy is sick! Can’t wait to see more! Nice work you are a master fabricator.
Keep up the great work 👍 Ian and Jamie 😊
The Caddywhack looks like a hearse for Oompa Loompa's with those Landau rails! 👍😎

👍🏻Looking good. I’m glad I was able to meet you guys at Iola Wisconsin car show a few years back. Looking forward to seeing the Caddy project
i like victor ....first impression is he's a square but he is really hip and has vision......thanks guys
On your way to 100 thousand viewers...i hope you and Jamie's dreams all come true..

Love to see cool stuff being built and see how you do it!
Your videos are just so entertaining, cannot stop watching them. So creative, wish I could be that way.
Oh wow that caddy looks sick , love your place , that back drop of the mountains looks like a scene from a western 😊
Great stuff! The Caddywhacked is Awesome! I can envision that beautiful piece of automotive history finished with Victor going over what his vision was. Of course his vision probably changed a few times in the process lol. Can't wait hoping you hit 100,000 soon
I always Look forward to seeing Full custom garage on motor trend ian does such an amazing job With the exception of the 1 or 2 people that he has come in and help him.
He does it all by himself. Unlike other Custom car shows that are on TV that have twenty five to thirty people doing the work
stupendous!!! PLEASE make sure there are pix of the final ride, even if it takes a couple a'years EXCITING. Husky Hugs to ALL!
I know how much work is involved in what you do and you make it all seem so organic
