Ian, you are truly a sheet metal artist! What you've done to that 55 Oldsmobile and the hot rod fire truck is truly works of art. You see it - get an idea what you can do with it in your mind - have the talent and expertise to "make it happen". I stand in aw of you! I'm definately a HUGE fan of your RUclips channel.
I think a third color used to bring out the pattern would have done the trick… A grey would have been classy, and setting off that work with simulated shadows would have kicked it up juuust right!
My dad bought the cars the same way and they turned out really nice when he was done especially the last 56 Chevy two-door hardtop that he ever did when he was done he was able to drive it in the parade😊
Damn I enjoy watching your videos, no loud blasting music, no listening to grinders and you talk! Yeah theirs guys that have RUclips shows that play loud music and they never talk. Well thays the last I watch them. Ian dude your an artist through and through! Love watching your builds!!!
You gotta be pretty confident in your abilities to start cutting up that henry j that's a pretty rair beast it looks so cool good work dude really you are something else
Tell the man who does the pin striping, if he doesn't want the paint to have a skin on it, the best way to store the paint is to put the tin upside down 👎 lovely work by all of you 👍
His gaps and shit and holding a piece in the air while cutting it gives me encouragement. Fingers grow back and chicks dig scars... "That '55 wasn't a restoration, it was a resurrection!" (just thought that up...)
Hi Ian, Any reason you don't use lead instead of bondo/bodyfiller ?? My dad was an Oldsmobile man from 1939 until the last car he bought in 1980 with one exception. In 1954, the salesman at Barnabé (dealership in Montreal) talked him into buying a two door Chevy. My dad took it back six months later and bought a four door Oldsmobile. I remember asking him why. He hated those "barn doors". lol He was set in his ways. The car had to be an Oldsmobile, had to have 4 doors and a positraction differential. He told me that his cars never had to have the engine opened up. Take care.
Years after my dad retired I found out he was a real live rocket scientist. He never said a word. We all knew where ge had worked but did not know what he did.
My brother-in-law and his father used to paint cars and trucks and did their own pinstriping the shop was called truck colors his name was Gary crisp along with his father they had a shop in California and one in Oregon and they used to put little stick figure people chasing each other around on the car after they pinstripe it it was usually a guy chasing a lady it was his signature looked kind of cool
i think the difference between the Henry J and the VW Bug roof chops are the VW maintains the same Radius. and the HJ does not ? i personally am a retired Professional Woodworker with mor than 35 professional years of building and installing Woodwork with a lot of Curves and Serpntine Shapes
Re: rear quarter window opening: Instead of cutting the roof, why didn't you just move the bottom pinch weld inward, and add a strip between it and the contour on top of the quarter panel? It would have been a lot of less and easier welding.
Kaiser/Frazer Manufacture Made Subcompact Car" Henry J " About 1950/1954 I Believe 1952 Henry J Tail Light Up Turn Like 49 caddy Tail Light But Different . Kaiser Supply Vehicles To Sears Called Allstate . The Grill Was Different , Wheel Covers Had A Modified Letter "A" In The Center. I Was Able To Purchase Three Vehicles (1959/61 and sold Them $400.00 Each To Hotrodders (Drag Cars ) Bandits 12 O'Clock T38 Bill
So, I never did see the solution for the Rear Side Windows… He cut out the guts, and you cannot do a static window without a B Pillar… ??? It just looks like they have the windows Down the whole time!
genie non le mot ne correspond pas mais au contraire j'apprecie plus son cote décontracte et avec lui tout parait simple non je le dis et le redis c'est un artiste merci chef ..........
No way, I commented below about how nice it was to not have a bunch of music covering up the sound of everything else. Now the second half of the show is playing a bunch of loud wild music....huh
FFS, clearcoat the paintwork and re-chrome the badges and bumpers at least, or is the fillerwork so bad that the semi-matt finish hides it? Door Striker plates weren’t taken off or masked up so got sprayed yellow too and the underside of the bonnet and engine bay just look shit. He might fancy himself as a fabricator but he wouldn’t last 2 minutes at a proper Bodyshop 😂😂😂
The proportions seem off. Too much body, too little top. Some cars are perfect the way they are. Tri-Five Chevys look stupid chopped. Impalas look stupid chopped.
Used to watch this on Motor Trend on demand until they decided not to let anyone outside the USA be able to use it so to be fair mate this is the only way I can rewatch episodes and couldn't care less...
Man, what are you doing... its so rusty inside :-( thats sad, how can you even paint something like this, its bad, not even talking about the seats 😕how can you even say "it's finished" when its about halfway finished :-/
Ian and jack much love brother

One thing Ive learned about Ians' genius is that if he doesn't have the piece or tool, he simply or complexly fabricates it, his self super kooool.
I have to say it. I like the look of chopped four doors.
You have to say it as it is. Just brilliant.
Nice build, but the White pinstripes are almost invisible IMHO should have used a darker color, great job !
Agree

The car is beatiful
His gaps and shit and holding a piece in the air while cutting it gives me encouragement. Fingers grow back and chicks dig scars...
"That '55 wasn't a restoration, it was a resurrection!" (just thought that up...)
Hey on the pie cuts , I'm digging those clamps ,, did you make those or is that something over the counter ? Thanks for sharing 👍

Nice work!!! What a Craftsman!!
That dog is very pretty and awesome
Years after my dad retired I found out he was a real live rocket scientist. He never said a word. We all knew where ge had worked but did not know what he did.
So much fun watching the art deco era projects. How about some Bugatti and some Delahaye?
I totaly agree
great looking. wow your work is great..
Does the cars actually get finished? Didn't see any side windows.
Why doesn't the carburetor fit right directly on the manifold like it's supposed to
Now the back end is smooth, maybe those caddy tail-lights can go in the back of the fenders instead of the rear panel?
Truly enjoy watching Ian fabricate, but why leave the inside of the hood and deck lid unpainted and rusty?
have you made a video of the last car that we saw was not finished
Man you have got fantastic music do u-pick-it
Diamond tuck would be perfect.
This guys awesome. Sponsored by 3m
Ian is a true genius - but seems never to clearcoat any of his cars. It protects the paint and helps make the colours truly pop.
I really want to see this car with your work finished.
What ever happened to the Henry J build?
Do you have a ventilated gas cap on it
My brother-in-law and his father used to paint cars and trucks and did their own pinstriping the shop was called truck colors his name was Gary crisp along with his father they had a shop in California and one in Oregon and they used to put little stick figure people chasing each other around on the car after they pinstripe it it was usually a guy chasing a lady it was his signature looked kind of cool
He can build anything
Starting to look like a marlin in the rear.

Your the best Ian you make something out of nothing

Came.out with a fair looking Henry J
My H-J first thought; "hatchback". ;-)
Henry J was the model the car was made by the Kaiser car company.
I enjoy your videos nice work but on this one the side and that rusty brace running down the back looks terrible you’re part was pretty cool though
Why doesn,t Ian shops a Volkswagen type 3 ?
I think he would do a nice job on such Volkswagen type 3 ......

So, I never did see the solution for the Rear Side Windows…
He cut out the guts, and you cannot do a static window without a B Pillar… ???
It just looks like they have the windows Down the whole time!
I would have done yellow or brown interior on the olds
Ian you are either born with your innate skills or not. I wasn't. You have a gift and I envy the hell out of you...
The man's name was Henry J Kaiser

You can barely see the striping
FFS, clearcoat the paintwork and re-chrome the badges and bumpers at least, or is the fillerwork so bad that the semi-matt finish hides it? Did the Oldsmobile ever get windscreen wipers ??
Does he ruin EVERY car like the past two or so builds?? Not my vision. He’s an artist, just not my speed
What would you had done differently?
That's ur opinion asshole
Well as long as it’s the paying man’s vision then it’s gold
@@hotwire62 no, it’s not gold; it’s anything BUT!!
