After almost 50 years of being obsessed with everything automotive, I am truly blown away by this. It is truly functional art, and it makes the world a better place by just being in existence. Congratulations on accomplishing something so absolutely unique and incredible!!
Fully agreed Ian is such a skilled crafter ! Hello from the other side of the ocean to all people out there, this thing is more like a cooler custom vehicle for Hot-Rod AUTORAMA motor-show !!!
Reminds me of Ed Roth. This car is completely off the chain!!! The Mohawk and fins made me think of Megamind's creations. You nailed it!!! I Love your creations!!! Keep up the good work Ian!!!!! Aloha from Hawai'i, Mama Leigh ❤
Geeze. I want a friend like Ian. What an awesome ride. I grew building those old Roth Revell kits and I think this ride would indeed make Big Daddy proud.
Freakin genius…..if I lived next to Ian’s workshop,I’d definitely be hanging out and helping him work on his projects. The guy is a wealth of knowledge and a great car builder
Absolutely LOVE you bringing the metal flake back from the dead. Never understood why it EVER went away...but it really is not around anymore.Very strange...because everybody seems to love it when they see flakes in full sunshine!🙄🤔🤨(?).I myself never changed over the years.Loved flakes since i first saw it on a bumpercar...Been experimenting with glitter and paint ever since..from the kiddy toy stuff to the stuff that's used in a nailsalon(!)..just throwing it into many many fresh layers of clearcoat...like Roth used to do in the old days.Great results ,always amazes me...Maybe i should try and save up some cash and buy a bit of Lil Daddy paint..looks like nice quality stuff. If only i had a money tree...But seeing you doing this paint stuff, makes me believe not EVERYBODY has gone crazy normal... Thank you,for following the COOL path in automotive styling...not the modern boring examples. Keep flaking...Oldskool SuperK👀L!!!!
Sam Barris was great... George Barris's two skills were (1) a salesman, and (2) taking credit for other guys' work. Ed Roth actually BUILT all his cars...
This is absolutely the epitome of custom design. I have always been a fool for fins, and the holes pefects it. Thank you for sharing this build. I've been in bed, extremely sick for the past week, and I felt like jumping in your car and going to show it off to everyone. I remember those funny car designs back in the day. 😊😅
Several weeks ago, I watched one of Ian’s videos for the first time. Three minutes in, my first impression was…Oh another custom car guy. Boy was I wrong. Ian is not just another custom guy, he’s a freakin master artist like a Da Vinci, Raphael or a Picasso. His work is definitely an inspiration that is on a level for masters. Thanks for sharing. Ian’s work and art will be show cased for years to come. Just sayin.
All I can say is Holy Cow Bat Man let me at it.I was in High school when ED ROTH was doing his thing and the BET-NICK BANDED blew my mind then just as this build blew it again.Keep on keep-en on man.I am 80 now but I feel like 18 WOW.David in Texas USA
This car keep the way compley cleans look with they elementos, is that think you see and don't have much our less, and everything fits and are necessary in the intire view, perfect.
Stunning vision and craftsmanship. As a huge Roth fan I'm touched by your nods to the Man, but you are still an original in your execution. Think about a mohawk blade type shift/brake lever.
Oh yeah. THATS a wacky bubble top custom hot rod car..thingy. I wish we could see it reveal at any major car show when driving in. See the peoples reactions.
So I was binge watching the fibreglass sports car build between you and Victor as I had always wondered where the other episodes went when I read a message saying the final (?) Episodes were not showing in MY country. What gives? Which country are they playing in? I guess I can log in on my VPN to watch. Where are they at. Thanx
Always really nice cars at the Mooneyes Xmas show, the "dress code" really makes all the difference, throwing you in a time bubble, I really like the silver fourdoor Galaxie, the scallops on the hood are a bit much, but overall it's such a clean ride, and the T-top Bonneville is so insane, I think Genocide have it, it's on juice, all metallic blue and finished to a really high standard, so bad ass. Anyhow, Ian's new Space Junkie is ridiculously cool, judging by the cars at Mooneyes it must be around 5 years ago, so I'm really surprised I haven't seen it before, Ian is such a legend, he truly doesn't give a single fck, the stuff he builds outside the TV show's time and budgetary restraints are so far beyond any of the other stuff. I wish we could have something like this once a year.. Go Ian 👍🏻🖤⚡🏴☠️
I watched the hole build of this . And Well . I'm a custom fabricator too . And love all metal flake . And that Blu interior . man that car looks so Dope 🔥. Truly a Master Piece 🙌.
That's one of the baddest rides I've ever seen! I met you a while back in Paso with my chopped 52 that Cole Foster helped me build and I dig your build styles and all man!! Glad to see you still at it and we've got similar shop inspectors lol. Keep it up brother!!! Hey I've got a 76 GMC Sierra I'm starting in and was wondering what would be the easiest way to drop it with limited tools and all but if anyone can steer me in the right direction it would be you. One love brother.
🐀 I got to meet Big Ed at local car show once in 95' or 96' 🤔... in Davenport Iowa, Got some pictures with him... I got lunch for him... He handed me 15 year old kid a $20 bill and told me to go to the Subway down the street and get them some lunch and bring it back and I could have any of his art prints on the table that I wanted. He autographed them too. Unfortunately, I was younger. I probably lost most of them over the years. I still got the photo with him I know.
Unfukkinreal.... I never liked bubble tops until I saw Ian do it. The fins and the Mohawk just blew me away!!! Ian's attention to details is impressive. Reminds me of Ed Roth...❤❤❤
Shape: 10/10 Patterns: 10/10 Colors: 8/10 (not a fan of the blue against the browns and gold) Eye-catching artistry: 10/10 Driveability: 2/10 Big Questions: How well does that radiator work? Can you run it for hours without it overheating? Is fresh air coming into the cabin?
Yeah you younguns there is a big difference between a metallic and true flaked!!! I miss the genius of the pioneer Big Daddy Ed Roth. An American inspiration and industrial Artist who helped the public appreciate metal fab and introduced FRP(Fiberglass) to the public. My favorite was his Mysterion. It’s was my inspiration and first introduction to fiberglass, sculpting and fueled my desire to learn learning industrial arts.
Love this project but I hated seeing you destroy the old show car. My son did this with a bicycle we built together when he was young. I told him to always start over never destroy a creation.
Man Ian you had collaboration with TWO MASTER CUSTOM CAR BUILDERS ONCE IN A LIFE TIME DREAM

I hope more Barris like creations are inspired by this. So cool.

That's definitely a throw back to the 60s. Takes me back to my model building days.
Next chapter, a matching "TRON" type bubble motorcycle with a mohawk and trailer!
It was Ed Roth and those cars that warped my mind into driving anything that most people don't have, awesome work Ian, it's absolutely amazing
You’ve surpassed your self again buddy. Ian your awesomely mad buddy. Love it.
Driveable art in motion my friend. I absolutely love every aspect of this!
most genius' like Ian have to micro manage everything, Ian is the exception he trusts others to do their job properly
Takes some kind of amazing talent to create a work of art like this car, incredibly impressive.😎
I really enjoy watching you fabricate. It truly is amazing. Not all can see what you see. Good for you. I had done fabricating myself. experience
This car keep the way compley cleans look with they elementos, is that think you see and don't have much our less, and everything fits and are necessary in the intire view, perfect.
Ian is a Mad Guinness, he's my hero!! 😮😮

Absolutely Nutz, fantastic job!
Truly a neck breaker.
😈👽😈
have you made any changes to the car in the interim.
Amazing
insane!
My jaw dropped when that bubble went on
Maybe the Mohawk could have been the same colour as the body but dude you knocked it out of the park
Nice 😊😊😊
Beautiful job
Perfect but for my vilain prospective i would like it to be exacly black were the brown is and green with flakes where the blue is.
Hellhound is an awesome looking dog.
How did the radiator? Work did it over heat
Finished, it looks like it needs Megamind at the wheel!
Amazing result. Wow 😮
Lve your dogs 😊👍

Big Questions:
How well does that radiator work? Can you run it for hours without it overheating?
Is fresh air coming into the cabin?
I think George Jetson would approve LOL .
Sweet, how well does the rad system work though?

Mohawk, super villain, cartoon, there's only one character that meets all those criteria......
... Marvin the Martian
Very Cool Car…
Looked cool with or without the mohawk.
Gotta love driving a "car" that comes up to your knees.
Congratulation this car is amazing!
That was a fun build. Subscribed.
