You should look into some sort of shade fabric to cover that center area between the buildings to keep the direct sun off those doors and give you a nice shady area to work outside between the two buildings.
That is what I was thinking.
I was gonna suggest the same thing . Even a pergola could help .
Yup... i have a 16 Foot Trampoline tarp i use on my West side to keep my live in camped a lot cooler. 👍👍
Was thinking of another shed roof structure about 20' beyond those garage doors, covered parking like you have on the newest building! Your shop will always be evolving into what works best for you and the channel and merchandise .
Looking great Puddin'.
a solar sail would work and they are super affordable on Amazon.
Theo is living his absolute best life!
I would add a car port type cover out o the middle shop. It would shield the doors from heat and also give you 3 or more car sheltered parking from hail and rain. Also would shield the sides of the 2 arms of the building from the sun and help the AC keep it cool
Putting a Big ass fan in main shop would help cool it better
We put one in our shop its made a massive difference!! Its workable even on the hottest days.
We have them in our shop and they help a lot you can tell the difference for sure good suggestion
Evaporation = cooling! The fans don't cool the room, the air movement speeds up sweat phase-change (like A/C) so you cool down more easily. You're the one doing the cooling, not the fan! Hooray sweat
When you insulate those doors all the doors, it’ll make a huge difference
If you insulate the doors, you should have the garage door company come back out and recalibrate the tension on the springs so they don't snap under the additional weight
Yup!!!!
Give me tears knowing what kind of life Theo has now being loved and having his forever home, compared to the poor guy being homeless on the streets and hungry. ❤🐕❤️
Theo is awesome..he's a natural shop dog and has no interest of leaving his designated area..smart pooch and sure loves his puddin pops ❤ nice shop 👍
When Mortski comes for a visit, you can set the thermostat to 90 degrees from your phone after he falls asleep. 😂
That's why I said Mr pudding that you need to put a awning there in the middle of the shop between those two buildings right there where the cars are ! 😅 More shade less direct heat 🙏🏿
Instead of turning off the A/C units then running them full on to get the temperature down, you would find it cheaper to have a thermostat with a night setback. This way you could set it to maintain 78 at night then drop down to 70 a half hour before you start working. I believe you would see a drop in your electric bill or at least the same. Ever time you let the space get real hot, the A/C unit must first remove the humidity before it drops the room temperature. So leave it on just at a warmer setting.
We used to refer to it as free cooling la cooler at night than it is during the day
That’s not a bad idea, businesses do that, they’ll have a schedule set up on the thermostat Monday to Friday during business hours it’s set at one temp and after hours and weekends set for another but seeing as Puddin’s working all week long he’ll just need the two settings. And as others have suggested if he puts a carport roof over the outside area between the two shops he’ll not only gain covered parking but he’ll protect those doors from direct sunlight so he may not have to insulate those doors.
actually the items in the room need to get cold, or worm they hold the conditioned air. air holds nothing. ceiling fans in winter to blow hot air down. summer lower fans for spot areas.
He already has that
Would definitely do the insulated wall with double doors.
Would Insulate or replace the 3 overhead doors with insulated doors.
Then if you need heat/cooling in that part of the shop, install a mini split unit. Mr. Cool has been offering sponsored RUclips channels like yours as it is a DIY unit that’s very easy to install.
The Mr. Cool idea would be perfect for that center shop .
You can cut flat styrofoam panels that will fit in the sections on those doors. Makes a huge difference. Well worth your time! Doesnt interfere with the doors rolling up or down!!
Lots of you tube videos on that. I use foil backed insulation sheets on my windows to cut dow on radiant heat, here in ca the sun is a killer. Aluminum is a great reflector of suns rays. It makes a hugh diffo, sun comes in heats the room items. bounce it out. I use a digital thermo window side over 100 easily. thermo on room side of foil insulation is a cool room temp. amazing difference. works on garage doors too. me i love my foil backed foil out in summer flip for winter bounce heat back into room makes it quieter too.
It's a dream shop to be sure.
Needs a WI Fi remote on phone to CHEK HVAC. SECURITY REMOTE VIA. PHONES
We have a washer and dryer in the shop just for shop rags and it has more than paid for itself... just an idea for you. And one of those big ass fans would help in the summer and winter for your main space.
Oh MAN! I love the exposed ductwork! So cool looking!
dust collectors.
@peter-pg5yc That's true, however, they are easily accessible and can be kept clean with just a quick dust during routine cleaning.
Puddin Time! My favorite time 😂
I just had a childhood flashback....when I was a little kid , my Sunday School was in the basement of the church. They had a system of accordion-type particians that
could be opened and closed for different size functions . When they were closed , they stored away into a cubby space in the wall . When opened - made several smaller areas .
Been THERE! It was a good expensive system
Wall fans will help a bunch...
Oscillating fans will make it feel like paradise...
actually fans dont work unless directly on you. i read articles oscillation is usless. Ca gets really hot. Plus ceiling fans suck. Blowing the super hot air from ceiling down on you. Floor fans directly on the floor are the coolest. use a thermo and you will know. Hot air rises. Its much cooler on the floor. and going up is gets prgressively warmer. ca summers are damn hot.
@peter-pg5yc
I totally agree with you..
If you use ceiling oscillating fans work..
I used to work maintenance in a laundry warehouse for hospitals...
We reduced temperatures by 15-20 degrees by using industrial oscillating fans that where hung from the rafters...
They are not cheap but worth it...
You control the fan and oscillating speeds to meet your cooling demands...
Puddin, congratulations on your new addition. It looks amazing & well deserved. Keep generating the videos we all enjoy. Professor Mort will enjoy his named suite. Another great video.
Barn DOORS between shop instead of WALL. Plastic IT IS FREE FROM OLD BILL BOARDS OR VERY CHEAP for celling in tall shop. After hurricanes I've seen many a house roof protected with billboard wraps instead of tarps.😎 💖 From Minnesota 🇺🇸
RickRegister took the words outta my mouth! A couple BIG ASS FANS will do the job! You choose the areas where they will do the greatest good.
My grandfather used a freezer curtin between his shops wasn't really to keep it cool but to keep the saw dust out of the different area's of the shop's but I would think it would help keep in cold air. The ones he had were clear see-through.
Air curtains will help to keep the heat out or the cold out during the winter months. You can get them for the 2 big door's and the smaller house size doors. They have them in warehouses.
A barn door on rollers and a rail would work for the area where the plastic is.
🎉🎉 thank you for the video🎉 you are doing awesome work bro🎉 congratulations🎉😮😅
Painting those big-assed, rollup doors black looks very cool, and a great color to absorb all that Oaklahoma Heat. It's great in winter but not so great in the summer. You need to insulate those doors, buddy. The place looks great; it is a far cry from your OG with the cracked wall and cramped quarters! 😄
Luv to see Theo around, he really found his partner and that's really cool ! Ya got yourself a very nice place, happy for ya Puddin
Man things just look awesome
Nobody more deserving than you man you earned it
Congrats !
Jacob you have some of the best content on RUclips. Even your Second Channel beats most other channels main content. Keep it up.
Looks great puddin!
Nice to see your dream shop coming together!
Thank you for updating us on your shop. Looking good.
Looking good coming together just fine 👍👍👍👍👍
Puddin do what you want it’s your shop not ours man it’s awsome to see you grow as much as you have keep going man
I like the wall idea, I think its the way to go. The addition looks great. Glad your almost done with contractors.
Puddin, gettin' her done! Congrats!
Bro I can't wait to see more of the mudsadys she is going to be hilarious 🤣 going the the mud pit out back
Awesome. Theo is looking great👍💯🙏
I have those motion sensor light switches in all my bathrooms the kitchen the dinning room the hall way and the stairway. Everywhere the kids kept leaving lights on got one. I love them! The add one is looking great man! I'm so happy for u!
Mr. Puddin', I ALWAYS enjoy visiting with you here on RUclips!! I remember early on, when you were at your other house and now here!!!
Again, I am glad to see what all you've done!! YOU, have done this, NO hand outs!! Your hard work, and sweat!! AND, your wife and family backing you up too!!!!! Goes to show us all, what one person can do when they believe in themselves AND have family backing them !!!
GOD bless, Peace!!
Howie
There is a black net stuff that will keep your doors out of sun they all so use it for putting over big gardens
With the new door bottom seals also check the stop molding which is the trim around the top and sides. You can get thicker/wider vinyl that meets up to the door. Have your garage door guy adjust it tighter to the opening if you're not going to open and close the doors a ton. My dad's been in the garage door business for 30 years and I grew up doing it with him.
Looks like things are shaping up quite nicely for ya there Puddin'. Glad to see everything is working out so well for ya.
I am always thrilled to see another great thing come your way and your families way. He brings such happiness and joy to us out here in RUclips land. Hopefully we bring at least a good percentage of that Joy back to you. Can experience what we experienced on this side of the screen. You ready to walk on water yet? No I know you're only human. But what you've accomplished is inspiring. And your programming is quality TV for the entire family. Well I'll put the pom poms away. I'm just a little too old but I'm only saying the truth as many many of us see it. So thank you. Hopefully you're working through the various health problems that you shared with us. Life is tough out here. Just know that you make it more bearable and for an hour or so the entertainment takes us away from the unbelievable upside down world we live in. 👏 Years ago they gave me this medal a civilian medal while I was in the military. We call it the helping hands medal 🏅 I'm a warning you and your family. By all the success you have, we are encouraged. My quality entertainment you bring to us, we have enjoyable time. Is humble as you want but please accept what I am saying and figure it on behalf of you're as the viewers as well. No I'm just average Joe. My messages to say average guy. I do believe saying what's on my mind you have a good day sir and make it a great day
From the old merch shop, you should take off that 2 x 4 with all the Old stickers and put it inside the new shop. That would be something really cool to have from what you started with. I just love watching both these videos behind scenes on the second channel.
Thanks for changing the lights. Looks way better!
Absolutely awesome shop my friend ' double sliding doors seem the perfect option ' another great video ' well done ✨xx 🏴🇬🇧
shop looking great!!! love these type of videos working on the shop
Loft/storage platform above office door going from top of stairs to front wall to near the roll up door…already having those stairs makes is super logical and easy access!
And looks like a small enough span to not have to add and support legs, just a decent beam…
Its not just your dead space in the work area that's a problem it's the fact your AC outlet is pointing straight towards the 3 bay. That's the area that'll get the cool air first every time then the dead space then where you're working. Your Mrs will know where to find a cheap heavy curtain fabric. Staple one piece to the truss and then hang it as a weighted curtain off the truss. Will be good enough as a thermal break to keep the AC where you want it but easy to shift and move out the way. To fix your work area you need fans to circulate the air around. Either some big ceiling fans or a couple rotating fans in opposite corners.
It was good to see the new shop and all the updates you got going on. Thanks for that.
Put in a plastic divider between the rooms that’s a slider !!😎👍🏻🇺🇸🦅
An awning over the middle garage doors would also help keep the heat down in the middle section.
You are blessed with a nice shop keep it how ever you want Puddin you deserve it as does your family I hope the blessings keep coming shop is looking awesome been here since the old shop and happy to see your family able to make your dreams become a reality look forward to your videos on both channels gets me through the week thank you for the effort you put in to these videos it is appreciated
Theo's looking good! He's a good boy.
Ever consider awnings over the doors. Just keeping the sun off them will be a big help. Awnings over windows will help too.
The time flew by I remember when you got the two buildings for your merchandise and you were working on the wee haul
For the center garage, perhaps you might consider geothermal cooling and heat. You actually have the perfect setup for it with minimal costs. Out the back, it appears you have a sloaping hill that seems to go back 40 or 50 feet. Simply take a 1 foot diameter pvc pipe, dig a trench at least 30 feet long. On the outside end, bring the pipe up to the surface or out the face of your hill back there with a fine mesh screen on the face of it to prevent critters and bugs from coming in. At the other end, bring the pipe up into the center garage. At 12 feet deep, the ground maintains a constant temperature winter and summer. Down to 12 feet, the ground temperature is 20 degrees lower than the outside temperature. Below 12 feet to 20 feet, the ground maintains a temperature another 20 degrees lower. Best of all, other than the pipe, cost to rent a backhoe, and perhaps a fan, or register to draw the air in, and some gravel to line the bottom of the ditch, the air-conditioning is free all year round. I normally wouldn't say it, but you are from Oklahoma. After putting the pipe in the ground, you will need to fill the trench in. Then just enjoy.
There is a couple in Arizona who are homesteading in the desert who have videos on RUclips showing their progress with the same system if you'd care to research it. They can be found at Our Self-reliant Life. I don't know about you, but I'm all-in for free energy. Good luck.
You should attach rigid foam insulation to the inside of the doors, mount a huge 16 foot fan in the ceiling of the tall shop, it would pull the heat up to the ceiling in the summer and push the heat down in the winter, depending on rotation of the fan. Would help deal with the dead space
Only thing I would warn you about is the dbl doors from the main shop to the smaller section. Do a small overhead door instead. Something like a 7x8 just big enough for a forklift to get thru. Painted myself into that corner already.
🎉😮 U new shop area is Awesome. I'm so glad you got the shop. You've always wanted. And you and your family blessed 🙌 with all your HARD WORK!!, On heat n AC, in large garage. I've worked in a ton of CNC machine shops. Insulated garage doors help out tons!! Also Plastic curtains like you.See in those meat packing plants , On your areas you don't use that much, They make Institute a curtains or dividers. On outside door paint , there is reflective paint, white colors, work on Reflecting the sun's rays.i hope these idea's were help, Jason B, Wichita Kansas. 😊
You could probably could put a roof over the old concrete pad between the old shop and new shop add-on, would keep the sun from hitting those old doors, thus cooling that area a little and giving you extra covered parking area. Win Win!
PUDDIN, As we say in the North East of the UK , your a proper grafter, = Your a very hard worker, All the best for your future adventures, ...
I hope Puddin' makes a custom car or truck themed bed frame. Also, instead of a permanent wall between the garage quadrants I might suggest a thick heavy duty curtain. That way you have full access when needed. A couple ceiling fans would do good as well.
That truck looks sweet
Shop is turning out awesome
22:33 put the peloton exercise bike in the exercise room puddin that would make a good addition to that room
As a plumber, and not an hvac guy. I would say let’s keep that little hvac leak in that room. To have equipment in a tempered room would seem better than a hot/cold room.
Thanks Puddin for the update and the video. Have a great evening👋
Can’t wait to see the Mudcedes-Benz 4X4 finished! 😂👍
Your shop is coming together!!!
Love that merc in background , looking a beast
Almost at a 100,000 congrats looking forward to 200,000
I love the details in your shop addition. How about a mezzane floor coming off those stairs (oh boy more building!!). You could try putting foam board insulation on the back of those garage doors, though you could always add a canopy to keep the sun off the doors. Thanks Puddin for the extra content and I like your cross on the door!
Shop is looking great. Look into an accordion wall or a sliding panel wall to separate the big shop from the small shop. Definitely paint the outside of the small doors. The temperature will go down almost instantly
I like exposed ducting fits the shop vibe well
In the winter, you'll always want to keep the entire area above freezing.
Puddin I love your channels and what you do! I love the model T build can’t wait to see it do a burnout.
You were thinking of building a wall with double doors to conserve your cooling. My suggestion is put in a barn style door, which be bigger so you could push a car through it if you needed in the future. I would rather go bigger than wish I put in a bigger opening later. Plus with a barn style you don’t need to worry about door swings and keeping area clear. Just a suggestion,
You do you.
Again thanks for the content and don’t let the negative comments get you down, I’ll stand with you! God bless
Stevie.D
Yay!! The video was awesome!! You fixed the LED-video issues in the lean-to side of the shop!! Just in time for you to stop doing videos in that side lol I love your content. I appreciate all the hard work that you’ve been doing and continue to do. Your videos are the highlight of my week. Thank you and thank your family for making my days so much better!
I feel like the wall up is a smart decision a set of full glass doors like commercial doors or something would be cool that way it would still feel open . The only downside of a wall is making the main shop feel smaller . The place is turning into a mechanics paradise puddindise lol 😅 I’m ready to see ol Roy get on the channel I’m not usually a 4x4 guy but that truck has a good look even the green looks cool if I remember right you said that truck has some history with you in Louisiana and all kinds of stuff . Keep up the good work man
I like the wall added between 👍🏼
And we are blessed to watch you build the vehicles.
for air in the parking side... just drill through the wall opposite side... you can leave the foam as it is that way,,, and reseal around the pipe in the hole you make... no ore than a foot or so of tubing
I GOTTA SAY That 4×4 Benz is looking pretty Sharp out in back I'm looking forward to seeing you Renching on That Thing its gonna be Super Kool 😎
Everything is looking good. Keep up the good content.
Place is looking Great Puddin.
I would install a ceiling fan or two in the main shop area. Build a wall with a wide sliding door (barn door type). Insulate all the roll up doors. Maybe add a split unit in the middle area also. Good luck. I enjoy watching both of your channels.
Excellent video Puddin :) , always enjoy your videos and lots fun too plus lots fun to enjoy on what you do!
Thanks Puddin! You are a busy man!
Door opener conpanies make Insulation inserts for those Rollups. 👍👍And.... adding Fans to recirc the Cool AC temps helps a lot too at peak heat times. I live in my truck camper 4 summers now, the windowAC works great, but i added a 10 inch Fan i run off my solar, its worth 3 degrees Cooler. Then i dont have to run the Hi-load AC as much. Facts.🔧🛠️🔧What a Blessing that Land development you have designed. Hallelujah🙏🙏🏁🏁
I’d suggest the covered outdoor center section to help with the heat. I also like your idea of a wall with large double doors to separate the smaller “storage” area from your work area.
You should do a walk around video with ideas and/or plans of all the vehicles parked beside your shop!
I work in an industrial warehouse and we supply that brand of lights. We are out in a rural area filled with barns, shops and factories who like to order lots of them from us and it’s my job to get them. The triple digit orders are my fav! 😅
I really love that old International
Seems like the wagon would just cool the whole shop.
Put a wall up with the double doors, best option. As for the three bay doors, you should put a canopy on the outside over the whole area so the sun doesn’t hit those doors. Just an idea.
A sliding barn door might get it. A long air hose for that merch side would be a quick fix for shop air, as it is between two doors and could reach the out the bay doors as well.
I sure look forward to Puddin's videos... and this is a good'un! Tour of the Puddin Palace, visits by The Old Truck Guy and the Nate Dog, Puddin Paintin', Theo acting as the job foreman (foredog?), moving the business, etc. What more can you ask for?
You should paint your garage doors a lighter color to reduce them holding heat. White or light gray would look good. You could also put awnings over them to shade them.
How about putting in one of those accordion type folding walls like churches have. Then you can fold away part of the wall when you need a wide opening. You have a place for that go-no-where bike, put it in the gym room.
Hay bud on those doors in the old shop . If you get some duct board and cut it to fit each area of the door . It will blow your mind how well it works then you will not need to replace the doors
Yes, I have done this and it works amazingly well. Its shocking the difference it makes and will pay for itself in no time if the ac is running constantly.
Yep a couple boxes of duct board and a roll of the shinny tinfoil duct tape and you’ll see
Needs a splash of puddn's fab shop blue in your new addition, possibly a pin strip mural on one of the walls !
You will get more efficient cooling if you raise the temperature when you leave to about 80 instead of cutting it off. Once it heats up everything gets hot and has to cool off. All you toolbox, tables, vehicles and all the inside walls on the interior side of the insulation. All that will have to cool off and acclimate to the cooler temperature. You can get a thermostat that you can set to lower the temperature at a certain time and raise it as it is cool when you want to start working. Also a ceiling fan that will move the air around will help as well.
