Hi Thanks for the tip, disables the update Medic Service no problem but somehow it keeps resetting that value back to 3 and re enables the Update Medic Service. Do you know of a more permanent solution?

I found a way to stop this every time it starts up. I am using CCleaner and when this happens I delete what I have configured(almost all in Default Mode) This will shut it down till the next time.
    Then repeat as required.
Or use in the RUN - temp - and delete OR %delete% and delete - this should work although I have only been using CCleaner

Did that. but somehow it re-enabled itself and changed the registry entry. Fun times.

A few reasons. Main one being my reason: the update in June completely disabled my computer (basically). It stopped registering my TV has a sound device and it stopped letting me open Steam. So no sound and no games: literally the reasons I BUILT this damn thing. I restored to a previous version and everything was fine. Installed the update again, same result: no sound or Steam. Went back to the restore point AGAIN. So now I refuse to ever let this damn thing update ever again. My daily routine now is EVERY SINGLE TIME I start the computer I IMMEDIATELY rush into Services and disable update, then I stop update, then I stop medic service. Medic is the real threat here, it re-enables the update every so often. I haven't had it even TRY to update since June but I live in constant fear. I have a timer set for every 6 hours when I'm on the computer to remind me to go back into services and make sure Medic hasn't re-enabled update. PC master race my ASS. Console was so much better than this shit. But regardless, that's why I'M here at least. Trying to find a solution other than this fucking daily routine I HAVE to go through to keep the PC functional.

done this and within a few days it's back switched on again.. I have same problem in windows 10 pro - A better & quicker way is a simple batch file on ya desk top and just right click run as Admin and it's turned off for a few days. Saves going into RUN running regedit (which is how I use to do it) now a simple batch file is much quicker. But thanks for video

@@Gman290a depending on what version of Windows 10 you’re on, simply deleting the registry key eventually Windows will just make it again and launch the service. The other work around is to deny access to that particular registry key (without deleting it). Google “deny waasmedic” and you should find the forum post with this in it. This appears to work BUT there’s also some reports that Microsoft set another trap: if you successfully keep the medic service from running Windows will eventually report it as a broken install and deactivate your Windows activation. That means paid-for copies, they’ll deactivate. Dunno if this method is the direct cause, but there’s more than one report of it. If it happens, just undo the denied registry key to let it run and hopefully block Windows from actually updating and repeat. What a damn mess. I use my machine as a professional work station and win update has broken program compatibility multiple times. So I just want a stable machine!

This solution is only recommended for advanced users. It's not for normal users. It's my opinion.
Some times in normal we can't modify the key , so in this we need to boot the windows into safe mode and modify the key .

Microsoft updates kept destroying my system beyond repair. The recovery disk did not work - the restore point did not working. It refused to uninstall the last update because "there are still pending actions". So the system would not boot. It's going to take me about 6 months to get my workstation back to where it was. Crippling windows update is the only way to protect my computer from Microsoft's fascist updates. Next chance I get, I am switching to Apple M1.
