BTW, does the taper on that model really go from 4 to 2? I just bought the Cordless Groom Pro, and when I compared the lengths of each side of the guard, they matched the 1.5 and 2 respectively. Less of a taper than I thought. Was wondering if it's possible to buy different guards.
Thanks so much for explaining the taper attachment and how they transition into the regular guide. Knowing that the tapered one goes from 2 to 4 it’s a no brainer to just use the 4 to finish the cut. You were the only video I found that explained the taper guards and their use.
I hate to say it but as a hair stylist for many years I didn't know how to use the left and right ear taper guards. Thanks so much for the explanation!
I've used those and for self-cuts they're great. The tapered "shoes" for left and right side work great. Corded clippers are a bit of a bother but you can do a great self cut with a set like this. I treated myself to a cordless Wahl set that's higher priced, but I had this set for years and it works great.
Question this might be weird but would it work if i use the left and right ear clippers to fade everything? Its my first time cutting my hair at home and i really dont know how to fade so i was wondering if i use it if it would work?
Not possible, I think - you'd have to use it sideways everywhere at move away as you go up. I just clippers for first time ever and I used the regular clippers to get rest of taper. I started with the higher number (using a scooping motion), and then went over again with a lower number, but not going as high each time. I couldn't do the ears very easily that way though - and had no idea how to use the ear taper (until now).
Sweet video man, I really enjoyed it. I've used the ear ones before and was using them backwards. I just went to the local cut & nick for the special. Today I try this style, If I fail I have a nice hat and some good weed to make it tru the 2 weeks it takes to grow out.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
I have a cheaper Wahl clipper but it comes with the ear taper guards. Just didn't know how to use them...until I found your vid. Props to you man. They work great!
Just picked up at Target for $25. First time I've had success using such a product. Popped on the 1 inch as the safest to use with success. It was, I just went to town and hair was falling off all over and with no worries. I mean a 1 inch guard, how much can I screw this up? It was easy and I started to look civilized again. Next up the ear guard and they worked just fine too. I'll continue working on it tomorrow but I wouldn't be ashamed to at least go into a barber shop again but I suspect I won't have to because this kit gives me confidence.
Man, you must be my twin. I bought this set yesterday as I had enough courage to finally do it. My hair was at least six inches long all the way around, and I wasn't considering going to Great Clips anymore because it was so embarrassing. I wouldn't go anywhere without a hat on. I figured if I screwed it up bad enough and had to shave it off it was still better than what I had. I put the six on and did all the way around, showered, then came back and touched everything up. I don't think I'll ever pay for a haircut again.
@@usmczippoguy7947 Congrats! About that time for a touch up myself and just not worried about messing up. The kit is first class and makes it so easy. Just don't need to go to a barbershop any longer. Living for two months with a much shorter cut actually made my scalp healthier.
I have "Suprent" clippers that I got on Amazon, I also have this Wahl set and the guards fit the Suprent blades perfectly. I stumbled across you video tryin to find the teeth size of the taper/ear guards, cause I NEEDED to know. And now thanks to you, I know👐🏼👐🏼
I've never liked going to a barber shop, growing up as a military brat my father cut my hair for most of my youth. When I moved out I got used to cutting my hair myself and occasionally asking for help form my friends if I had issues (I'd direct them the best I could) I know my hair doesn't look as good as it could if I went to a professional-- but I just prefer it this way. Now that the back story is out of the way I have to say I've been a complete idiot the whole time. Over a decade of cutting my hair without knowing how the ear taper guards work-- I've been neglecting to use them at all, buzzing down to a three and pain stakingly using scissors for around my ears. Thank you for making just a simple video explaining their use. I feel like and idiot but still very excited for the reduced stress this has already brought me
Thanks I kind of figure but I wanted to make sure so I appreciate you showing the video on how to use the right and left ear taper. Yes, on the lower back of your head do you have any other videos on how to get skin fades on the back and on the size of your head or how to use a tool for making shape up because recently someone messed up my line and I’ve been trying tools and really to me. They don’t work, because I can’t really see as much my vision is not that good.
You made this so simple I think I might change what I do and use the ear guards as intended and just go straight up with a 4 for a mid fade. Thanks man. I lost part of my leg in a motorcycle accident, any guy can cut their own hair better than super blanks, a real barber is 50$+ and I just can’t afford that now that I’m disabled and how fast my hair grows.
Hi My husband still likes the tapered military haircut (which I can’t do, I’m no hairdresser) can I use those attachments to taper to back of his head and neck?
So the “ear trim guard” your holding in the beginning with both clippers in your hand what is THAT for. I have this same set for my boyfriends haircuts but I have NO clue what it’s for?
That's the ear trim guide, not guard. You tilt the clipper to only use one side of it and use it to trim around the ear. It's easier if you're not a clueless woman tbh
Does anyone know how long it takes to fully charge? There is no green light indicator to tell that, and the red light always seems to stay on as long as it's plugged in.
Greetings, Mr. Fatboy! Is the head on the Merkur 41C open comb the same as the 15C? I need a good mild to semi-aggressive razor for when my beard has several days of hair growth. Any other recommendations?
how much is this in the usa? And also the cordless 5 star magic clip? In the Philippines its like 80 bucks too expensive for a non professional grade clipper.
There is another ear trim guide that is not marked left or right, has no taper. No videos on that anywhere. Makes me wonder if Wahl's is just adding this non-tapered ear trim guard to increase the list of attachments and has no use in real life. Otherwise there must be a couple of demo videos somewhere!
Geo I really need your help, I have just received 96 Derby Shaving Soap sticks and 58 Palmolive shave stick soaps from a friend who has closed his barber shop down, will it be ok in 40 years time or will these shave sticks go rancid.
Sell those sticks as quick as you can, invest the $360 in a good S&P index fund, call me in 40 years and thank me. No shaving soap is going to last 40 years.
Finnaly I can know how to use the left and right ears... I have one since the last week and cut my child from front to behind 🙈😁🤭 ... Thanks yo your video I'll hope to make better
If your hair is an example of the results, I would think twice about using those ear attachments. Don't really want my hair that short around the ears. I have the cordless clippers.
