      Indeed we can. But I still can not comprehend the fact that he said 1/5 becomes a 2 with open guard. Because it becomes nearly 1.5 mm less than a 2 when it's open guard. Any person who started their training in a professional barbering school would know the difference it makes 🤷🏻

    What you think about using only these lengths:
    Lever closed = 0mm
    (Fade with Lever Open = 0,5mm)
    1 Guard Closed = 1mm
    Then…
    1,5 Guard Open = 2mm
    (Fade with 1 Guard Open = 1,5mm)
    I say this because for my Wahl some guards are missing (I only have Guard 1, Guard 1,5, Guard 2 and Guard 4,5)

    Is it common for taper levers to be off?? Been thinking of just getting a new pair. These clippers don't have hard stop notches on the lever either.

    Do certain blades take out more bulk and make the hair look thinner at the same length?
    For example people say the magic clips that are staggered are like texturizing shears . Texturizing shears can flatten out the hair a lot. So does the staggered clip essentially thin out hair ontop of blend the tips? Or is it not that dramatic to worry about?
    I personally don’t like showing scalp. I like to cut my hair longer all around. Don’t need sharp looking lines or fades. Kinda a medium length on the sides/back, top is longer.
    I’m trying to upgrade and get the best setup for that since I never have done it that way . Fade blades/taper blades etc old school senior blades . I mean , at the end of the day there will be a taper on the sides and back. I had seen icons had the longest extension on their blades I think. But I was lookin at the magic/senior corded with the strongest motor.
    I had read someone combining the crunch blade of the magic with the top end of another style. Sounds interesting to me.
    Would you have any suggestions for a setup that would help that sort of cut best? Obviously one can do it with anything but at this point I might as well get it as well set up as possible .
    I saw a video where a guy used the magic and senior with the same clip and oddly the magic cut shorter and showed more scalp, which was confusing, it had the slower motor vs the cordless senior. Idk if motor really also effects the density of the cut but maybe it was his angles being off. I do like a textured finish instead of super flat and buzzed looking , it rather have my hair look thick and less likely show scalp. Curious if the blades could affect that type of overall finish . I been using 40 dollar wahls for years and haven’t put much thought behind it

  • @eeiko321
    @eeiko321 Год назад +3

    Hi, thanks for posting this video. I’ve got a good idea of wahl clipper guards. But still a little confused with one transition/combination…
    I saw another video it explains from #2 guard” to a “#1 guard” is by using the 1.5 guard lever half open. (Assuming the 2 and the 1 were lever closed)
    As you may have noticed most RUclips fade tutorials the authors use #2 + 1# OPEN!
    So my question is…. What would you use blending between these two?

    • @ezbladeshavingproducts
      @ezbladeshavingproducts  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching. You can mix or match any way you want. This video just explains how the guards work. You can use any technique

    • @eeiko321
      @eeiko321 Год назад

      @@ezbladeshavingproducts thanks for your reply. Yes I understand the video shows the fundamentals of clipper numbers + levers.
      And me as an amateur who loves learning to cut my own and son’s hair.. I’ve come to realise that with Fades….there’s factors that can complicate transitions/blend such as; hair type, hair texture, hair color and of course…head shape.
      But how would you personally recommend blending (or getting rid of a line) between #2 Guard OPEN ~ #1 Guard OPEN?
      =
      Eg would that be #2 Guard CLOSED ?
      Or #1 1/2 Guard Half-OPEN
      I can’t seem to figure that one out. Sorry for my question, i probably should’ve explained a bit.
      (I know they say “playing around with the lever” may likely eventually “get rid of the line”.. but the thing is; when some of us are cutting our own hair.. with limited; lighting, vision and reach… it be even harder trying to tender with lever-plays.. in addition)
      I’m just thinking it be easier to find the precise half-way point and then work within a narrow distance…than a large variation and end up messing things up if done wrong.
      I’ve also come to realise that bald fading doesn’t have to be so complicated (and overkill) as those tutorials that teach to “close the lever; little by little… close it like x4 or 5 times and passing the line“.. it can be done with couple of guards and minimal lever movement and achieve the same.
      I’d be grateful if you could offer some more guidance.
      Thank you again.

    • @thugnasty5242
      @thugnasty5242 Год назад

      @@eeiko321 Have you figured out how to this? I am currently struggling with this same process

    • @eeiko321
      @eeiko321 Год назад

      @@thugnasty5242 no not really…. I’m not a barber, just learning to fade my own hair and my son’s.
      Because if you think about it for a moment, 1.5 guard OPEN is basically a 2 guard closed. But no one ever uses a 2 guard closed as a guideline when fading.
      I’ve also found it depends a bit on a persons hair density, thickness…
      So between 2# OPEN > 1# OPEN
      I’ve personally just kept using 1.5 guard half-closed to closed…you’ll have to play around with, lines don’t always disappear easy… unlike how easy the RUclips barbers show case it…
      My question now is between #2 OPEN > #3 OPEN… (some RUclipsrs jump from 2 to 4.. skipping the 3) that line is the hardest to get rid of… no matter what I do… it doesn’t go… I’m forced to have to just keep at it with thinning shears w/comb to try soften that transition… and it ends up looking either uneven or … just “meh Ok…..” looking in the end
