Absolutely amazing! watched a 17 minute tutorial that showed an extremely complicated way and now you just present such an easy method! you saved me *hours* of work! thank you.
I've been using Photoshop for decades now and, although I was aware some time back that there was a 3D feature, I didn't realise it would be able to do this. Thank you very much for your tutorial. It has been incredibly interesting to me and invaluable. Thank you!
This was so insanely easy!! Thank you so much!! Others make it so complicated and this beats having to download an external program! There aren't any for Mac..so this works perfectly!!
i have seen a few tutorials now on how to do normal maps properly and this is by far the best one out there. thank you very much :) do you use the same technique for height maps aswell?
This technique will not work for height maps, because there would be too much high frequency detail in the texture. adding some extra effects such as blurs however will help create a height map. however the best way to get height maps is to bake them straight from a high polly model. or use a 3rd party software.
Thats very helpful, been trying other stuff with metashape baking high to low which is nice also but this is great all in one program thing, very clear tutorial good stuff
Thats odd...you just select your diffuse or coloured image and change it to greyscale and input all the adjustments he mentioned. I combined the image with adjustments and then tried the filter>3D>generatebumbpmap option. I hope you were able to figure it out. im using photoshop 2019
My normal map comes out as a solid blue color with no matter what photo I use. I try to make black and white, make high contrasts between white and black, and still nothing but flat blue. Any ideas why?
Hey man, thank's a lot for your tutorial, very clear, appreciate it. I wonder, if anyone has a clue : Can u make a normal map with sharper edges then default values, the different parameters inside _filter_3d_normal map don't seem to be effective. The stone wall i'm trying to represent doesn't have round stones, but sharp ones and I can't manage to represent it so that it looks realistic. Have a good day

when I go to the "Generate Normal Map..." it requires a 3D Mesh Preset but I don't know how to install it. Can you help me please?

Are your layers merged? If not try that. In the normal setting have you changed the sliders, fir example less blur.
@@GameDevMan Hi, The layers are merged and the blur is at 0.
It's perfect!
