These agility & skills courses/exercises are designed to help develop the fundamental riding skills of clutch, throttle, brake and active balance by the rider.
Precise practice in coordinating these techniques can lead to instinctive/reflexive actions by the rider and allow for more precise control of the motorcycle.
Mastery of these techniques allows the rider to more smoothly transition the bike when cornering as well as being able to react reflexively when encountering unexpected changes in surface traction in off road conditions.
Depending on your skill level, you may want to make the courses larger to feel more comfortable while you develop these skills.
Performing these exercises carries a risk of dropping your motorcycle which may result in damage to you or your motorcycle. Always be sure that your bike has the proper crash guards and that you also wear the appropriate protective gear.

Great instructional video and detailed explanation, thank you. The biggest challenge is find an area suitable for this exercise. I also worry about practicing too long in fear of burning the clutch and wearing the bike but I understand this is what they are built for. It just doesn't feel good for me when the fan constantly kicks in.
🤝🏻 Thanks for letting us know you liked the video! To set up the whole Garage course does take a big pice of land, but to practice the Figure 8’s doesn’t, and I think that’s really the best exercise to practice.
As far as the the fan going, that’s the best noise to hear 😅 because you know that it’s working to cool the engine off. It’s a terrible feeling being on a bike (miles from a shop) when the fan breaks and you know that engine is cooking itself to death😅 I ride my bike here in Dubai all year. In the summer it rarely gets below 40C/104F (even at night) and that fan is always going… on every ride👍🏻
@@advmotoskillz thank you very much for the feedback. I will continue practicing figure 8, it always seems to work a lot better on asphalt then dirt. That movement always makes me think I'll lose the front end.... just have to trust it if I have my body position right.
@@advmotoskillz you also helped a lot by saying and demonstrating that I don't need to bend my knee as much (ie touch the cylinder) to make these turns. I have osteoarthritis in my right knee which limits my movement but not my passion 😁

Ride a 1250 and there will be no need for the clutch, just the rear brake. It is a big difference between the 1200 and 1250 in this regard.
Certainly, each model improves! I haven't tried the 1300 yet...
@@advmotoskillz Even in Hechlingen they teach different techniques since the 1250 came. I am looking forward to try a 1300 in April when I go there.
