I love wotc reedit cards like the drake with old school art and visions expansion symbol
Me too! It’s a nice touch.
32:24 "I guess I can pay mana to cast it"
Magic 2024 in a nutshell.
This is literally what I'm talking about
The amount of combos in mh3 provides a lot of value.
Combos like the one being played today are the kind I like/prefer. It requires several pieces to assemble and can also be interacted with/blocked in a variety of ways. On an unrelated note, I love MH3 already for breathing new life into the Energy Mechanic and Eldrazi for formats like Brawl/EDH. Despite being a two set block, there really isn't enough in KLD/AER to make a decent energy based deck. Also, with it being who knows how long before they remaster BFZ/OGW I'm excited to make Eldrazi decks that aren't just megaramp into/cheat out the big ones. I honestly enjoy playing all of the smaller Eldrazi, including the bad ones, because then it feels like your deck is representing the true invasion in all of its glory.
Really like your combo videos!
I'm ambivalent about how many combos there are in mh3
To be fair, Modern could use some decent combos. Wizards banned the best combo decks of the format (instant speed Living End) so now there’s a giant hole in the format where midrange murders everyone.
Yet splinter twin is still too good
Wild, ty!!
as far as i can figure, the best version of Primal Prayers in Historic is just a straight 3 card combo with Acererak and Guide of Souls. It's pretty cursed to go through that loop though, so I understand playing a slower but quicker to win version
I used to play Aluren/Recycle combo deck back in the day
Oh man. There was this one guy who would always play the Aluren combo deck everyday at FNM. This was like in 99-00 before there was 500 formats. Basically, almost everything was legal except for the banned/restricted list and older cards like dual lands. I got pretty good at beating him.
More passion! More passion!..
Ok, this is busted. When I first read the card, I thought you have to pay an amount of energy equal to creatures' mana values. But you pay one energy flat. Busted.
Amped Raptor should be dubbed "Ramptor" from now on.
Why not Dinomo (Dino + Dynamo)
Surely we're dubbing it Zaptor, no?
0:32 The sad sigh when Legenvd says "very...powerful enabler" is palpable
You could add something with storm like grape shot or aeve to add to the value with aeve doubling what ever life you gained that turn and making a whole bunch more etb's to also gain infinite energy
I don’t mind how many combos are in mh3
I'm a combo in mh3
We are all combos in mh3 on this blessed day
@@teusz16 Speak for yourself
@@borismilnosteinumov2984 I am all combos in mh3 on this blessed day
(glad someone snagged the kenM reference)
I love you
How do you feel about Whitemane Lion instead of the Drake? It lets you cut a color from the pretty wide manabase, and also provides some utility even without Prayers on the board as a way to fizzle removal on other creatures. It costs one more mana, but that's pretty much always irrelevant once the combo is assembled
Certainly an option in other formats, but that card isn’t on Arena. Kor Skyfisher is legal, but doesn’t have Flash.
I'm curious about the number of combos in mh3
32:32 Think if you flash in shrieking drake in response to Raptor ETB trigger (targeting raptor) you can do 20 damage that turn pretty easily. You had two instances of energy gain where you didn't have revolt and hit creatures, which could have been another 8 to the face. Then you do the other stuff and cast one more raptor for a cool 21 total damage (possibly more if you hit another energy card off raptor, which you can guarantee by playing cleric to search for prayers beforehand).
Sounds about right! Didn't want to keep my opponent waiting to do the math in this case.
Hm... I play in one of my decks a "Leyline of Sanctity" and if its in my opening hand I have hexproof on turn 1, so my opp is no longer able to target me. Does this stops the combo of the deck as shown here in the clip? Ah... I see the Corpse Knight should also do the trick here, so it would only stop the Aether Revolt if I have hexproof.
i see these hundreds of games per month. Do you still play in person with commander or otherwise? Just curious. love the vids!!
Whenever I get the chance, but it’s not very often these days.
Has energy ever been anything other than busted!
depends on the format. It has been a mechanic with little to no support in the last couple of years (except for now and fallout)
@@zemrpereira No its just always been broken due to terrible design
@@JohnSmith-rr3jt I dont think you know "depending on the format" means.
Whenever energy is relevant in a format it has been awful... That standard environment was also awful.
Would it have been too niche a title to say "This combo is alluring."?
Considered it for the MVC !
@@LegenVD What's that?
@@draconocor1309 The "Most Valuable Card" that shows up at the end of each video.
@@LegenVD don't know how I didn't put that together
How do you search for cards with energy effects???
Might be bugged on Arena at the moment, used to be with {e}. Can always look it up on Scryfall using Historic as the format.
In 16:28 why with 2 damage could kill a 3 toughtness creature?
He was saying that it was because they had Revolt enable, which with that enchantment out makes your noncombat damage do extra
Aether Revolt had Revolt active, meaning sources of damage dealt 2 more
I’m not a huge fan of combo decks in general and there are so many in this set
is aetherflux reservoir legal in this format ?
It is!
@@LegenVD O.O
Maybe one of impact tremors?
Certainly an option!
Your first opponent, if he had a well thought out complete selection of utility lands, could've killed you easily
Maybe a dumb question but does nobody run disenchant anymore?
It’s usually the type of effect you have access to from the sideboard. Most decks don’t have them in the main.
@@LegenVD Used to be a huge issue unless you were playing mono black. Interesting.
Raptor not having until end of turn for casting makes it so much better..
It forces you to cast the card right away, otherwise it goes to waste.
greenbelt rampager not yet in arena?
I talk about it in the video! 5:30
when is mh3 going to avaible to everybody
Tuesday I believe.
@@LegenVD ah OK thanks.
Another question to you speak German
I see 5 colors I click
I like how many combos there are in mh3
I hate how many combos there are in mh3
Boohoo cry more
Skill issue
Neat but kind of boring
Magic these days with this disgusting power creep is headed toward being yugioh 2.0 with how they keep making mana irrelevant.
"These days" - This is for modern though. Standard isn't anywhere near as busted as this.
@@boringmonkey6958they're not just for modern though. The power creep is still present in other formats like commander.
People have been saying this for like 10 years now
Primal Prayers is just a balanced version of Aluren, a card that was printed 20 years ago.
Of course power creep is present. You don't get people to buy or play new cards if they're not better than old cards in some way or another. That's just the nature of a long lived game.
But this is modern. Standard is nowhere even close to this, as others have said.
How did Yugioh, the most broken card game ever, figure out effects should say "this effect can only occur once per turn" or "this card can only activate this effect once per turn"...
But Idiots of the Coast just can't wrap their tiny little heads around it lol.
You don't actually play the game if you have that opinion lmao
A four card combo isn’t the end of the world
Magic actually restricts abilities to once per turn quite a lot, and it generally makes them phenomenally underwhelming.
They'll never fully implement that because the players are crazy and don't want it to happen. They have done it only for power creep purposes
@@Nate303actually it is. It's the reason why a lot of cards are banned.
