0:58 actually is not Toothy, he is the mech in the full cinematic trailer that rips a Europan soldier's arms off and is seen disposing the skeleton of an absorbed body and then capture Old Man for feeding.
09:08 "I don't want pvp,I am old, I am slow" that rings so true to my heart lmao. But I also understand the desire for others to want the end game of the combat side to be pvp. The potential that the game chrome hounds laid out with their war system is something I would love to see instilled in this, especially if you can support the "war effort" by suppling the logistics line with looting. I would definitely want it to be a limited optional thing tho and not mandatory like Destiny did. that was awful.
Having played it now I can say that it does work, even on my mid tier rig. It's rough but I enjoyed playing it solo. Only got Hunter killers after me once, when I picked up a Weapons Tech item. Needless to say I died lol.
If the forever winter becomes a ttg I think if would do well with the fan base (just imagine the minis they would make). I also like how we as a community get to help write lore for the story it kinda gives a 40k vibe where everything is somewhat canon, especially since history due to this war is basically lost or maybe made up.
I think if you have AI squad members you should be able to tell them which specific type of items you want them to pick up so you can focus on grabbing what YOU actually need and they can get the scraps or just move along if the item is not of the type they're told to pickup, basically a little box menu would be all they would need to do, tick this check that and boom they're focused on Ammo for your other kit and you can scavenge for whatever you're actually carrying, does this make sense???
Needs alot of work because it’s rough. The movement feels clunky and the ai is the most important aspect to make immersion full because visually it’s there.
Visually it is there 100%, the movement is better than the early trailers but lacks impact. Clearly the characters are skating/floating on the surface of the ground. But that can be ironed out. They’ll keep it in the oven and we just need to give feedback that is constructive and clear good or bad.
People bitching about water is ridiculous. I’ve played for like 10 hours and have 60 days worth of water. It’s easy to obtain and if you don’t play for 60+ days then you shouldn’t be complaining. If anything I think they should make it more difficult to obtain water. If the games not for you then don’t play it. As the developers said “ a game for everyone is a game for no one “
After playing a few runs already, it's everything I expected and wanted. I'm definitely making a video once I'm done editing the two Risk of Rain 2 vids, I wanna support this the most I can.
If this lives up to even half it's potential it'll be great, they just need to put in a lot of work. I gladly got this is in early access. It's jank, there's glitches, and I crashed once so far, but I'm willing to stick it out.
I mean it'll be nice if they removed the mechanic but until then it's not really an issue for any active player, even casuals. If you can't play the game for 1h a month to get the water then you aren't really the target audience here.
@@BatteryStaples Then I hope the developers understand that they are restricting their target audience by this one game mechanic (though yes it is a major one). By what amount will become clear in time if they hold to it, but it's currently the most polarizing issue discussion wise. They can keep the hardcore mentality, and keep the hardcore player base while potentially walking away from a significant number of sales, or they could ameliorate the mechanic to allow for more a casual play style which will increase their sales and the hardcore base will still probably play the game. The financial viability of a game is always in the hands of the developers (or at least the management), so it's a question of what type and level of success are they looking for and whether it allows them to keep putting forward their dream.
@@erikvaid2560 Thanks for the nuanced discussion. I don't really disagree, I think it's just that until the Devs remove the mechanic, if someone is interested in playing the game actively, at the moment the implementation is such that it's not really an issue that would hold you back. If it does hold you back then the current game offerings are not compelling enough that playing a little every week/month is something that you would be interested to do in the first place. So the target audience right now seems to be people who can login 1h a month to get water (not necessarily even hardcore audiences because getting water is trivial). That being said I think it's a pretty useless mechanic in it's current implementation. The amount of water you can store is huge and there are pretty much guaranteed water spawns that you can run in and out and grab really fast. All the simple 'extract from X zone' quests also award water, so pretty much anything you do in the game makes water a non-issue. It does beg the question of why it is implemented in the first place and it's good that people are raising that feedback. Cheers
Played it some, despite my computer being pretty potatoy and it getting stuck a few times I was still able to play in a satisfying manner. I managed to stomach cyberpunk on ps4 on launch, I think this is better. But it's a good reason to try and upgrade my pc I guess. The game was enjoyable even if I was completely lost and couldn't progress yet. I think it's got promise for sure.
I think what I’m personally most excited for is the books and show adaptions to -hopefully follow. I really hope they don’t botch this amazing art and world building!
People here seem to have forgetten what "early access" means lmao. Game's essentially in paid Beta, gives the devs a chance to stress test and get community feedback while keeping their little studio financially afloat. It's pretty rough around the edges, but I believe in the devs' vision and want to help them see it through
What weapons will be in the game? Any guns from the world wars aside from the AR platforms? (Sorry if this was asked in another video, just found you 🙂
SPAZ 12. I’ll have an answer as I play more. Sadly, I’ll have to wait till 2am my time. I’m crazy busy. But I’ll do my best to cover everything as time comes.
@@VerbotenGeist a Mauser bolt action? Or C96? I actually did see the "Leningrad" PPSH the 1943 version from another RUclipsr it was definitely a "now that's what I'm talking about!" Moment 😄🙂
It was in fact not promising, water system is garbage, AI barely works, there is this garbage hunter killer mechanic that spawns enemies that have wallhacks and keep spawning on you for the entire match. Very unfun mechanics for a game with great potential.
Tbh, that's what I've expected. It's an early beta (if not late alpha, which it seems like) that was released because the community was hyped and asked devs to do it. And in this case, it's good that the game was published even in this state, as there turned out to be faults deep in the gameplay core - like the water system. Early access opened *SO early* that the devs haven't got enough time to get into this sh*t deep enough for it to become unfixable, so thanks to the community feedback, they'll hopefully get back on track. Faulty game design philosophy is much worse than poor optimization, AI and QoL combined, so the fact that it was exposed when it's still easy to fix is awesome.
Refunded. Cannot say one positive thing about this game. Wow is it bad. Not to mention the water mechanic draining while you are offline is disrespectful to the player. Worst devs this year? Id say yes.
As expected, game atmosphere is amazing, everything else is absolute shite. No PvP is also a shot in the foot, no one will be playing this in a few months unless they really rethink this.
PVP isn't needed to keep a game alive, yeah sure it'll attract pvp gamers, but at the end of the day its in the devs hands on what they're trying to make and who for. I would rather they stick to their goal of a world where you are just trying to live and help others in a world that has gone to hell, rather than them adding it and not giving it much care or having it conflict with their goals (Not to mention the inevitable problems that come with it).
Helldivers 2 doesn't have PvP and all it took was one good balance patch for people to love it again. Don't try and attract the wrong player base please.
from what I've seen everyone but the fps cod gamer crowd have been giving the no pvp a positive outlook on the games development, and with a larger skew leaning towards wanting no pvp I doubt that will be its downfall, The Forever winter isn't a competitive shooter type game, it's a co-op survival extraction game with a war raging indefinitely that in circumstances you'll have to fight when running and hiding is no longer an option.
0:58 actually is not Toothy, he is the mech in the full cinematic trailer that rips a Europan soldier's arms off and is seen disposing the skeleton of an absorbed body and then capture Old Man for feeding.

Movement isn't my biggest problem for now personally, bugs, optimisation and a slight water rework are what the ea needs most at the moment

Run mech trenches for water, you get 1 day's worth every 2min, 2 days if your rig is large enough. It really feels like a non-issue atm.
Don't care. Don't punish me for taking a break from the game, don't force me to play
@weir-t7y dude you can get up to 80 days of water with upgrades. if you haven't played in that time then you'd prolly want to restart anyways 🤷

The water system is modeled from the real life Water system Nestle uses in 3rd world countries
