Generally they start to go wrong from year seven. lol On a more serious note. Some classic cars are been going for 50 years plus. After electric car revolution and banning internal combustion, I reckon some folks will stick to what they know, and keep their old motors, however, with the amount plastics and electronics, I'm not sure modern cars are built to last. In fact I think car manufacturers are aiming for their cars to have a expiry date of 5 years or something, like washing machine and fridge factories. You could break down and rebuild a carburetor or weld a broken manifold on an old car. What could you do with a plastic ones aye? I just wish good cars stick around. All the best.
@@josephshamon7824 he did get warranty, two year warranty but when he went to a Range Rover specialist he found 25 problems with the car after us only having it for two days, yes I have to admit it was second hand but when he bought it the seller said there was not even one problem
I was once lent an Evoque when my car was in for body repairs and I must say it was very good to drive...much better than I’d expected, and more cabin room than anticipated too. Great review as always 👌🏼
Had mine a few months now, 2.2td4 black coupe 2012 pure. Although it is the poverty spec it still has tinted windows, heated seats , air con, adjustable ambient lighting, meridian sound system. Ivory leather interior, electric adjustable seats, parking sensors. It's my first ever land rover so I was surprised with how firm the ride is but after the recent snow I had a chance to take it out in the untreated back roads in Cumbria and it took it all in its stride. Iv since had it remapped so Although it's the TD4 it equals the SD4 in performance. I only ever use premium fuel, esso supreme or shell vpower. Il easily get 40-45 mpg if driven "sensibly" I absolutely love it and I'm definitely converted and when I'm ready for a change il be getting another from the land rover range, maybe a disco or newer, higher spec evoque
As you was driving down the narrow country lane, there was a new shape Evoque, yes they are awesome cars. We had one on a 61 plate when they first came out. Black 5 door with the 2.2L diesel. Kept that car almost 5 years, the best car we ever had.
I swapped from my old Vogue 4.2 to a td4 2.2 evoque and love it immensely, got all the bells n whistles inc the meridian system and doesnt feel like a womans car to me, 5 stars to land rover for this one :)
This 9 year old Evoque has the features on par with the latest cars of 2020's. This is great review! Now the 2020 model is out, this is good news for us who want to buy the older more affordable Evoque models! 😊
Lovely car to drive, beautiful car to have on your drive. Horrible car to own. I kept mine for just over a year and it cost me just under 3k in repairs. Bought it privately cash, so no come backs when it started to go wrong. The two happiest days of having a Range Rover Evoque is the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
I have a 2016 facelift 2.0 diesel with 226'000km. Has been a very nice car. Efficient, comfortable and luxurious for a very reasonable price What I love the most about is the Meridian 825w surround sound - which kicks B&Os/Burmesters a*s. It also has rear seat entertainment...
Great review again Matt! Sorry though mate I only saw 50% of it, I was too busy admiring that fantastic scenery! What a Place to be on a day like that!!!
Mine fits loads of shopping in the boot. But then I'm female. The Porsche 911 I got I huge trolley load in thst heap of shit. The Porsche 1 loaf in the boot. 911 on an A plate 24yrs ago. Got rid have discovery. When daddy was a car trader .
Well done as always, I recently had the opportunity of sitting in one couldn't take it out for a test drive as the electronic parking brake failed before we could go anywhere and was stuck on. The interior is definitely upgraded and feels nice, although for me it was a bit small and I don't think I'd be carrying rear passengers.
The Evoque for me is far and away the nicest looking (inside and out) car in its class. The interior looks bloody gorgeous and minimalist, which for me is a good thing. Great review, thanks again! 40mpg for me though is a no no, mine averages 60 so that puts me off. Bloody lovely car though.
I would say very smooth and informative review. Keep up the great work. Love watching your reviews. Helped me with my ml320. Love it. Just like he said, everything works well. Thanks.
I’ve had my 2016 model since new and not had anything really go wrong with it outside the warranty. Only niggles have been weird, intermittent electrical faults but it’s behaving itself at the moment. A rear camera is essential. I like that I can defrost it without going outside via an app.
If looking at the 2.0 diesel watch the oil level on the dip stick. If over full this could mean the direct injection is washing past the piston rings and diluting the oil. Not an issue with the 2.2 diesel out of the freelander.
Another good review. Our neighbour - a lady of petite proportions - loves hers and finds it easy to drive so perhaps confirming the stereo type. Interesting dip into the car nerds topic of premium fuels - you might not hear the last of this!
Started using v power fuel in my a Jaguar 2.2 diesel. No more def problems, lower emissions at last mot and an improvement in smoothness and mid range power. Better mpg as well. I only use premium fuel in my motorcycles and cars now, no question.
I'm considering buying the Range Rover Evoque so just watched both your videos on the Evoque and Discovery, both excellent videos and really helps with making a decision. Really useful info. Thank you.
I found this to be very informative since I am currently in the market for a new small to mid-sized SUV, which is my preference. I was fortunate to participate in a vehicle survey that was set prior to the introduction of the Evoque in 2011. I fell in love with it's looks then. This video was very helpful! Love your review!
Another out of the box option for the canny second hand buyer absolutely a breath of fresh air have been looking to change my trusty e60 5 series for a year great to have options these are golden years I don’t care what they say
Evoques look so good inside and out that people would buy them even if they were crap. I love them to be honest and they are really popular for good reason, they are fab cars.
I had a 64 plate dynamic a few years ago, the electrics were shocking resulting in a new battery the dealer network let me down badly as it was under warranty it took 6 weeks testing checking and god knows what else before I got a battery, the dealer even advised me not to fit one at my own expense, I offered to pay as it was all very inconvenient as they said it could invalidate my warranty. Also storage in the rear was not ideal there is no hidden storage areas in the sides or underneath the boot floor everything had to be on show I like small items out of sight, I no longer have it now a very expensive mistake buying it and one if I’m honest could only just afford so to not be totally happy was disappointing. I did OK on the trade in though for a new Tucson not as plush but no irritating inconvenient faults. Good video keep them up.
Hi Matt great video I do quite like the baby Range Rover I was given one as a loan car when my l322 went in for a service and at first i hated it but as the day went on I kept thinking this is a really nice car and at the end of the day was sorry to hand it back great video hope your well best wishes ian.
Another cracking review as usual ,i LOVE the green oval and have driven one of these ,liked it but not for me ,but the amount i see daily on the roads say it is a very popular Landy
Great review -I've watched a few evoke ones recently. i think I'm going to get the convertible one because of your comments - lol - I guess you're either a convertible person or not - I have only ever had motorcycles and convertibles - the fact that land rover actually built an SUV convertible - unlike any other manufacturers is amazing - and now they've come down to a price where I can nearly afford one :-)
Hi Matt. Great reviews. I Bought top of the range Dynamic Lux for Delivery December 2014. Got it on the 10th Dec 2014. It was back in the garage before Christmas.... in the following 2 years that I owned the Evoque it was back in the garage a further 8 times. In the 26 months I owned it I was actually in possession of it I'd say 20 / 21 months. Great to look at, small to live with... massively underpowered & super unreliable.... never averaged more than 30mpg combined. Over the years I've had full fat RR's & RR Sports the car before the Evoque was a 2011 Sport HSE on it's first ever MOT in 2014 it cost me £4k so it was traded in the second I picked it up for the Evoque I ordered out of disappointment with the Sport. My genuine experience..... & recommendation to anyone is NEVER buy JLR unless you have lots of money & you don't mind not having your car a lot of the time you own it, cos it will be back in the garage more times than you expected. Shame because they are the BEST LOOKING SUV's out there. Wouldn't mind a review of a Stelvio if you get the opportunity Matt. Keep up the good work & I will keep watching. Cheers G
So you have had terrible JLR product experiences & then want to know what an Alfa is going to be like? I'd go with more of the same, but with added Passion & soul, or faults as the rest of us call them.
@@Zerofightervi Absolutely valid point.... Alfa was always problematic, maybe I was hoping that things had changed. The Stelvio is a good looking SUV though.
@@gw5140 My problem with Alfa romeo is you can never trust the word of an Alfa fanatic. The car could be the worst thing ever but you'll always hear the tried & tested 'passion and soul' nonsense.
The wife wants me to get one and I really like them but I’ve heard of more issues that what you have said and they were not cheap fixes. I would love it if these were unfounded, plus there is a host of really good alternatives. X1 and X3 are good but must be due a refurb like the 1and 3 series I also like the X2 well I think I do. The Evoque does have by far the best looks especially in 5 door. A new one is just outside my range as I do like a good few toys. Other alternatives from most of the manufacturers out there so choosing is difficult.
Great looking car, we had one for a day when my disco was in for ‘ a little TLC’ however asked for it to be changed to a discovery sport. Unless you are under 5 foot 6 inches it was too cramped inside.
I had a top of the range Evoque for almost four years, it was very good, I'd even consider another in the future. I was contemplating a change when the fitted Ford diesel 2.2 crank front engine oil seal failed leaking too much oil on the drive, repair cost £850 so I exchanged it for a BMW M235i. Yes I'd have another only I'd look for a petrol engine one next time.
@@ogotuwaobuto5366 I love being a chav then. Oh I also have a Bentley racing team jacket t shirt n rucksack all for free direct from Crewe. And LV bag. Picnic basket for days at the races. So I love being a chav. Rather be a chav than a WAG
Stop the DPF filter blocking with a motorway run every fortnight is the common advice - with my Transit I just drive for miles in third gear occasionally to keep the revs high. Saves finding a motorway if you don't need one.
I’ve always liked the Evoque but prefer my FL2. I do think they have perfected the E with the latest iteration though. Great job Land Rover. I’m hanging out to get the new Discovery 90!!!!
I don’t suffer from Solihull syndrome like you Matt, but that is a lovely looking car. Excellent Color and trim combo. My mum would be made up with one of those. Good job.
Everytime I have been to my local landrover garage there is always one of these on the deck being worked on your better of getting your money and buy the 1st or 2nd series range rover sport in my opinion, a lad I work with has one it spends more time at Landover Stockport then it does being on the road with him re call after re call after failed parts but it's a land rover so people put up with it
Great video. Watched this just before I brought one. Was an awesome car except the rear suspension was knackered so ended up going back to the dealer. Such a shame as I really liked it. Sold one of my defenders, considering this is more than half the price, its so much nicer 😅
I thought this car was just for orange people in Cheshire - I see enough of them driving through Altrincham and Hale en route to Warrington in the morning, and I didn't get why they made a 3 door, but you're right -- the interior is excellent and it looks the business, and the ride height is certainly good. Great review. Not my sort of vehicle, but you're definitely my type of reviewer.
9:55 My 1987 Granada Scorpio has QuickClear front screen defrost ! Unfortunately, most of the elements have dropped out. Would have had to have used Now 10.
This is something I think Ford must have had a patent on. I had it on various fiesta and focus models from the mid nineties and it became available on all their PAG products later but l didn't see it on any other makes. I know it's each to his own but I've never needed heated wheel or seats, but a heated front screen is worth its weight in gold to me.
It’s such a shame that no reviews cover the manufacturer fault of installing steering racks with aluminium bolts holding the electrical motor together, the bolts corrode and snap, I lost all steering as have many others. There is an online petition for a UK recall. New bolts were used from 2018
Just got rid of our Evoque, sudden steering rack failure and whole replacement turbo all went wrong the same day. JLR dealer said “oh yes all very common faults”. Turbo £1.8k, steering rack £3k. Don’t hold on to these without warranty. Apparently gearbox and suspension also give common problems. Just my real world experiences.
I already paid to replace turbo on my Evoque. It’s expensive to repair and not a reliable car. With my personal experience with it, I would recommend it to anyone.
gange21 Scotty Kilmer is a hilarious joke. About maybe 5% of the time he has helpful and true things to say. The rest of the time I can’t stomach him - just the entire package, but especially the content. He can keep his 1994 Toyota Celica while us car enthusiasts get to enjoy the one life we have to live 🤦♂️ There are some great car reviewers online though thankfully. Nice job Matt!
Scotty Kilmer is highly knowledgeable about automotive repair and maintenance, and is a guy to listen to for those who want economical and reliable motoring, what the probable majority of people really want. He pretty much leaves the rest to others.
Thanks for this. I'm think about it as my new purchase. Not sure which model to go for.. I love the design. I agree with the feel of being cocooned in the cockpit. But that won't put me off. The lack of rear view might though. 🤯
Good honest review (as ever). Mine is one of the best, if not the best, cars I've owned, and that's quite a few. Just a shame that nearly all of the LR dealers I've dealt with have been sub-optimal.
Like a WAG that’s had so much botox that it’s diminished their decision making abilities (or whatever); that’s the best line I’ve ever heard about the residents of Alderley Edge 😂😂😂 Lots of folks (me included), have described these as a Freelander 3 to their social climber owners who proudly announce that they drive a Range Rover, but they’re actually much better than that. Another excellent review, thanks 🙏
Hi there; Thank you for another good informative video. I understand that you were aiming to demonstrate the wind noise in the cabin, but it kind of made it difficult to hear yourself. Maybe I need a hearing aid, but I wonder if a different type of microphone would eliminate the issue. I hope you take this as a constructive criticism as it aimed to be. Cheers a bunch. Thanks again for the video.
@@HighPeakAutos the one she wants (is white no surprise) is an ed4 I've heard some opinions that it's worse than the TD4. She does go camping occasionally (doesnt tow a caravan atm but we might want to) in your option would a ed4 be fine or should I keep looking for a TD4?
I had three Discovery's and a lwb land rover.. The later the model, the more over engineered they became. As a young Royal Marine serving in commando forces, I drove lightweight landrovers all over the world during the 70s. Not economical, but virtually unbreakable and if there were problems we could usually fix it in the field. Land rover has lost it's way.
Absolutely great review. If I lived within a reasonable distance of your garage and workshop I would certainly buy one knowing that I could rely on you, you gorgeous man, to look after it for me. I would need to find a good LR garage locally before I bought one. Thanks again for the brilliant reviews
I've just put a like because I appreciate your review style, Matt! What I don't fancy, actually.......... Is the Evoque!!!!! Too many of them are sold!!!! You can see a lot of them everywhere!! That's the typical car which is bought by people who get influenced by all kinds of trends without having their own thinking and being able to distinguish themselves from the rest of the world!! That's why I strongly believe it's the Range for those who don't have a budget as high as the one needed to buy the Range Sport........ Or, alternatively............... The RR for the poor!!!!! (With a subtle disgusting intention 😂😂) I really hope to buy within 3 years/3 years and a half......... The REAL RANGE ROVER!!!!!! Which is.......... The VOGUE 3.0 DIESEL!!!!!!! ✌️✌️
Test drove one in 2013 cause the Mrs wanted one, I don't like the look of them but I did like the way it drove apart from the rear hatch that wouldn't quite shut and an annoying rattle (on a demo!) it seemed well made but the pcp deal was abysmal - bought a top spec CRV for 200 less a month, which apart from the asmatic 2.0 engine was great, in fact we had two. The ridiculous extended service intervals don't help the dpf and if you don't want to pay stupid money for fuel buy some Millers ecomax and add at every tank fill.
It is a good everyday product, and aged well inside and out, I think the mistake was calling it a Range Rover. Should of had a new name. Then peoples expectations wouldn’t be so high.
Love the colour of that Land Rover, used to have a Firebird on that same tone, mint 👌 . Good review, indeed that is a model for the missus 😉 (ladies love it, guy not so much)🚘.
Another superb review, though judging by the space in the back, this looks like a handy truck to have if a) your kids are between 4 and 8, or b) your friends and relatives are pygmies or otherwise vertically challenged, in which case it's to be hoped that the boot comes with a step ladder. Handy I guess as a two seater and you have to drive over leaves occasionally.
I'm afraid I don't get the criticism of the rotary gear selector. Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive. I've only used one on one short drive in a Jag XF and I didn't have a problem.
Havent seen a guy this real, legit, open, chilled and so well spoken to leave us with all the answers we need to make a decision. Big shout out to you bro 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Very solid review. I would be interested in a future review on one on the pug in hybrid spec Evoques.
Chill on the hyperbole, your a good to watch when you talk plain about the car. keep up the good work, love your vids!
Just got one recently, absolutely love it!
Enjoy it
High Peak Autos thanks and keep up your excellent videos!
Me too and I'm very happy with the four door petrol model.
@@darren4767 2 years later.... you still enjoy it? I'm considering buying one
As they go on your reviews and camera work are getting better- well done
Cheers
Honey I shrunk my HSE. Love it
Great review as always Matt. Seems to be loads of Evoques around. Loads of bargains.
Mick
Its based on the freelander. It’s just a freelander with Range Rover badges
Yes, previous gen was on the same D8 platform, itself a modified EUCD Ford Mondeo platform.
Huh incase you don't know or are dumb freelander is a JLR.
It's a chavvy vehicle for sure.
@@ogotuwaobuto5366 I love being a chav then. Oh I also have a Bentley racing team jacket t shirt n rucksack all for free direct from Crewe. And LV bag. Picnic basket for days at the races. So I love being a chav. Rather be a chav than a WAG
@@tinacape2326 I bow down to the Queen of Chavs.😂😂😂
Stop the DPF filter blocking with a motorway run every fortnight is the common advice - with my Transit I just drive for miles in third gear occasionally to keep the revs high. Saves finding a motorway if you don't need one.
@J130 G810 Same principle as an "Italian tune up"
Diesel injector fluid
Cheers, mate! Enjoy watching your videos.
Glad you like them!
@@HighPeakAutos watching your videos from India. When I come round to England, will buy a car from you 😎
Thump Musician Cool. It’s interesting to hear from viewers all over the world!
Seriously why if this guy not on the TV with his own show. No nonsense no BS reviews, first class.
Thanks! I appreciate that
I’ve always liked the Evoque but prefer my FL2.
Good job.
Range Rovers across the line are just beautifully styled, inside and out. Hope you WILL review the convertible...only ever seen ONE on the road.
Mines a 12 plate manual diesel prestige 122k on the clock haldex refub. Bloody love mine.
As always... great video. Funny and informative and the vehicle looks good.

My 1987 Granada Scorpio has QuickClear front screen defrost !
New bolts were used from 2018
sounds good advice i would definitely look into this in more detail when i go for a change car in a few months.
Was that the 2.2 or 2.0?
It was the 2.2L engine.
we have 2 evoke dynamic sd45s (his and hers) and love them. touch wood no major problems great cars and great looks..in my opinion ill buy another
You and Scotty Kilmer would have big arguments about this brand
gange21 Scotty Kilmer is a hilarious joke. About maybe 5% of the time he has helpful and true things to say. The rest of the time I can’t stomach him - just the entire package, but especially the content. He can keep his 1994 Toyota Celica while us car enthusiasts get to enjoy the one life we have to live 🤦♂️
There are some great car reviewers online though thankfully. Nice job Matt!
Scotty changes his opinion on brands almost as often as I change my underwear..
Scotty Kilmer is highly knowledgeable about automotive repair and maintenance, and is a guy to listen to for those who want economical and reliable motoring, what the probable majority of people really want. He pretty much leaves the rest to others.
ozzierabbit scuty talk about Maintenance cost long term thes guy talk short term like tha car future how it drive
Why does every video have someone talking about what damn Scotty Kilmer would say? Kilmer will say everything that isn't an old Celica is shit.
Like a WAG that’s had so much botox that it’s diminished their decision making abilities (or whatever); that’s the best line I’ve ever heard about the residents of Alderley Edge 😂😂😂
Lots of folks (me included), have described these as a Freelander 3 to their social climber owners who proudly announce that they drive a Range Rover, but they’re actually much better than that.
Love the videos. I watched your one and the RR sport last night and the evoque today. I'm getting an evoque for the missus now haha.
Lesvosace Haha good choice. Thanks for watching
Lesvosace is the eD4 2 wheel drive like the freelanders? It wouldn’t bother me. There’s less to go wrong and it will be better on fuel
@@HighPeakAutos yea is 2wd ok thanks for shout
@@HighPeakAutos I'd appreciate your opinion on the price if you dont mind. Seems ok subject to the usual inspection and haggling?
I tried very hard to hate these when they came out but but....I really like them
I've just put a like because I appreciate your review style, Matt! (With a subtle disgusting intention 😂😂)
I really hope to buy within 3 years/3 years and a half.........
Beautiful shade of green.. love the coupe, but is it reliable? Will I put Basil, the head mechanic at "coventry motors" kids thru university??
Great video mate 👍
Kyle Cheers
It is a good everyday product, and aged well inside and out, I think the mistake was calling it a Range Rover. Should of had a new name. Then peoples expectations wouldn’t be so high.
Love the colour of that Land Rover, used to have a Firebird on that same tone, mint 👌 .
Good review, indeed that is a model for the missus 😉 (ladies love it, guy not so much)🚘.
The 4 banger was the nail in the coffin for me.
Great review 👏
They should've made a V6 petrol model. It would've sold well I think
@@HighPeakAutos I would have one for sure 👍
Brilliant honest reviews, keep em coming 👍🏻
Another superb review, though judging by the space in the back, this looks like a handy truck to have if a) your kids are between 4 and 8, or b) your friends and relatives are pygmies or otherwise vertically challenged, in which case it's to be hoped that the boot comes with a step ladder. Handy I guess as a two seater and you have to drive over leaves occasionally.
I'm afraid I don't get the criticism of the rotary gear selector. Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive. I've only used one on one short drive in a Jag XF and I didn't have a problem.
