  • In this video I share with you my disappointment in RIVA Racing and the quality of the Solas SXX Concord Impeller. First time using this impeller with a Stage 2 tune and it shears off without hitting anything and barely 8100 rpms which is just above stock on a 300 hp SeaDoo. The impeller is less than 3 months old and worked fine while using a SCOM. This impeller fail wrecked my pump housing, stainless wear ring and oil seal with the cheap "performance" part.

    Wow 😳 Thanks for the tip i was fixing to place an order for my Seadoo Jetboat and some of the negative comments are bull 💩 Seadoo skis and boats have always ran awesome ive yet to have a problem. I just wanted to upgrade and get a little more performance. They should have made that right. Thanks for the tip.

    Wow I’m glad I haven’t made an order yet. I have a 2016 Yamaha FZS and need a prop. Do you recommend anyone to repair the stock unit? I’m trying to decide if a few extra mph is worth the money.

    I wonder if they bench test every impeller at maximum rated RPM before packaging. If they don’t, then they should.

    Stage 2?? Heck the same thing happened to me on a brand new bone stock STX-15F. Solas KG-CD 13/19. Lasted about 1 hour before a blade sheared off at the hub destroying the entire pump housing and leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere.
    Solas asked me to send it to them for evaluation. I agreed under the condition they would send it back after.
    Solas received the broken prop and then completely ghosted me! Now I can’t even get the evidence back. The same clown who was emailing me won’t respond at all and I was professional with him the entire time.

    IT WAS NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED METAL. HEAT TREATING TAKES OUT THE WEAK POINTS, AND IF THIS HAPPENED ON DAY ONE, THAN THATS THE CULPRIT. I DID FOUNDRY METALURGY FOR YEARS AND HEAT TREATING OF PARTS AND CASTS.

      I had the prop for about two months with no problems but the first time taking it out with the ski tuned it sheered off immediately. I agree the quality is sub par. I wouldn't have a complaint if they didn't deny to replace the other broken parts. There are plenty of people that have had the same issue.

    Those other 2 blades hit something, but maybe that was the blade hitting I guess

      Yeah the broken blade was rattling around in there at 70+ mph. I thought the engine blew at first.

    Maybe the clearance was tight between the wear ring, and your shaft bearing is a little loose? I don't like the idea of ss impeller with a ss ring.I wont use a a stainless steel prop on my bass boat, my friends do , and they have to rebuild the lower end drive everytime they hit stump , or rock.lol Couple grand a pop. If I was using a solas, I'd use a plastic wear ring, lot cheaper than a housing replacement, and probably no difference in speed at all.

    • @deepdivetrading
      @deepdivetrading  2 года назад

      I would agree with that if it came apart earlier. I had that setup a few months before I tuned it and it came apart the first time I put some rpms to it. I didn’t think that anything would be wrong with a SS ring since Solas makes them both. Costly mistake and Riva used to warranty them but I guess that got expensive for all the others that have had the same issue.

      @@deepdivetrading That's some kind of cast stainless. I've welded much stainless in my time, and it doesn't look like that. That looks like a cheap gold plated chain , that when it snaps, you see gray pot metal inside. lol

      @@deepdivetrading Update . I purchased one for my gtx 155 this week , and it didn't seem to hole shot as well as my stock impeller, and top end was 3mph slower. When I put it in, my wear ring was perfect ,it was only a month old, not a scratch on it running with my stock impeller. After I decided to put the stock one back on, I noticed my wear ring is destroyed after 20 minutes of the solas. I have a feeling the blade is bending when under power, and coming in contact with the wear ring. If I had a SS wear ring (mines plastic), something has to give, and I think it would of been the impeller like yours did. I was going to keep the solas impeller for a spare even though I didn't like the way it performs, but it's going back for a refund this week. Now I need another wear ring, and mine was OEM $$. Thats why it rode funny, the blade being so thin is flattening out the pitch possible , and at the same time driving it into the wear ring. That must be why the factory ones are so thick, the Seadoo engineers must know something Solas doesn't . I just polished up my OEM impeller, and stuck it back in tonight. If I need another one, I'm going factory. I pulled a 27ft. open console boat this weekend 3 miles with my factory impeller and wear ring, and not a scratch on my OEM wear ring at all from the load. 20 minutes with a Solas, it's toasted. Guess you were on to something.lol

      @@danbush1249 thank you for the update. After all this happened I put the factory blade back in and another stainless ring and never any issues. I have sold the ski and the current owner also has had no issues. Solas for SeaDoo is junk. The interesting thing is that the Solas 13/18 for Yamaha is much thicker and I’ve never heard of any issues.

    My first impulse is to assume this guy is one of those blokes that do shit like cut between islands or whatever where the water is 18" deep full throttle and he ate something, threw on a surprised Pikachu face and decided a witch hunt for the world's largest impeller company was in order. But the guy has a channel dedicated to watersports, it's hard to buy in to the idea he doesn't know how a jet pump works. Stainless is a lot more sensitive to contaminated welds, I wonder if the gas mix wasn't right or surface wasn't cleaned well enough or something and a weld failed? I can't see the hub it break well, but there isn't really a lot that can go wrong with an impeller.

    • @deepdivetrading
      @deepdivetrading  2 года назад

      It’s a known problem now just Google it. For some reason Solas uses thin blades on the SeaDoo version but later I had the same pitch Solas on my Yamaha and the blades are much thicker and I never had an issue.

      In 50ft of water that would be amazing!! The only mark on the one blade is from it rattling around in my pump shoe until I got slowed down. The Solas failures are semi common on the SeaDoos.
