  • I am showing how to set up/tune a Yamaha Superjet standup based freestyle pump from my Rickter. Most of these fundamentals will apply to all pwc like sea doo, jet skis, jet boats and other wave runners.
Next time you ask your friend what pitch impeller he is running, remember there is much more to the story than just the leading and trailing edge numbers.

Hi,Great Vid! I have a new 2024 Yamaha Limited HO 1.9 engine 200+ hp. I just put a new Solas 14/16 impeller on it and I cant get the rpms to go past 7900. Strange that Solas recommend 14/16 because on just last years model they recommend a 13/19. So im pretty confused and trying to find information for the best top speed impeller. Thx!!!

    Thanks.
Just what I was needing to know in helping me set up my Yamaha 155mm jet pump unit.

Hello, I'm Gustavo from Argentina. I wanted to know if you could tell me what the pitch of the original propeller of the 2012 superjet is, since it was bent and I can't find that information to correct it. Thank you.

Hey I have 2 Kawasaki stx 15f Jetskis and I am a new ski owner so I’m new to the ski world, but I have an issue I would like to see if you can help me figure out,
Okay on a recent river trip I had the impeller shaft bearing fail, I replaced the bearings, shaft, cone, impeller and used the original jet pump housing. I used kawiperformance upgrade shaft kit and got a solas impeller with stock pitch. Everything went together nicely, and I have rode the ski several times and have noticed a slight vibration? Is the best I can describe the sound, but it only happens when I am at a consistent speed around 34 mph but if I let off the gas or speed up or turn it will stop until I stay at a constant speed. I have since replaced the jet pump housing to see if maybe that was the issue. And it still makes the vibration. It is very slight, and I wouldn’t notice I guess if I didn’t have another of the exact same ski to compare it to, and I also replaced the shaft and bearings in the other ski with the same upgrade kit. The only thing different is the impeller. So I’m wondering if the impeller is the issue and is that something I should worry about ? Thanks in advance for your input or anyone who reads this.

Hi, I stumbled across your comments about pump vibration on this thread. I too have two Kawasaki's SX-R's and one we did a solas impeller upgrade after a small stick got stuck between the impeller and pump housing. That ski always had more vibration and was hoping that the vibration was being caused by a bent impeller - easy fix -. We upgrade the impeller shaft (KP Performance, seals and new bearings - complete rebuild) and new Solas impeller. The other ski runs well and has much less vibration (almost none). My question is did you find your issue?. I believe we have a bent drive shaft and being its a Kawasaki, we will have to remove the engine to replace the drive shaft.

no I have not found the issue yet, I’m thinking it’s the impeller, and I plan to swap the impeller with the other ski to confirm it. I did swap the entire jet pump assemblies from one ski to the other to confirm it was in the jet pump and it did confirm that much . So now when I get around to it I’m going to swap just the impellers and see if that confirms it being the impeller. It’s a very subtle vibration nothing you would notice or think was wrong if you didn’t have another ski to compare it to. And I just don’t know if it’s something that’s going to be an issue down the road if I don’t address it. The ski pulls hard and runs great , it just has the slight vibration sound at steady speeds in and around 35 mph ,it’s almost like the torque from accelerating and decelerating and turning keeps it from making the sound and when at a steady speed it’s alittle loose and slows whatever it is to make the vibration?
