FAST REVIEW | Ooni Koda 2 MAX Outperforms Cost, Best Dual Burner Pizza Oven

    In this Ooni Koda 2 Max review, I skip the BS and get right into the juicy details. Fast unboxing/setup followed by preheat tests; then, we get right into testing out Neapolitan bakes (one and two at a time) and some big 20" New York styles.
    This oven performed way better than I expected. As many of you know, I much preferred the baking performance of the Karu 16 compared to the original Koda 16. But, this new Koda 2 Max bakes way better than the original Koda. The burners are redesigned, and having an equal burner on both sides of the oven opens up so many possibilities to your bakes. You can keep them both on high and cook a Neapolitan in the center, or you can lower them a bit and cook two at once - both pizzas having an equal amount of heat.
    For the cost, I'm thrilled with how much you get in this oven.

    Someone on Reddit used a 24” screen and made a 24” in this. A few inches stick out the front. But with turning it came out looking amazing.
    A 20” is a huge pizza, but when I get mine I’ll be buying a 24” screen

    The one thing I've noticed with my limited time making pizza is that stone thickness, keeping heat after every bake is the key to a good oven, this looks very promising,I was hoping the gozney xl was going to be a little bigger than my Koda 16 but no, Thanks for the review it spotlighted a lot of different things is capable of.     I’ve got the Koda 2 Max and have absolutely different results than you have. The display is always off around 40-50 degrees Celsius, which is a lot. Also, the heat distribution is very uneven. One side is always hotter than the other one.
    The stone unfortunately also cools down very fast which requires me to have at least 5mins of reheat time between pizza launches.

    I use the same method of the screen on my 16” pies in the Ooni Koda 16. It helps a lot. My screens are black now

      I had to buy a new 20" screen for this, so I made sure to season it 4x in my oven before using it for this vid. It will only get better with time!

    Between this and the Emozione, which would you recommend? Making mainly Neapolitan, with occasional NY style. Is there any major reason to go with the Emozione vs the dual burner setup on the Koda 2?

    Budget not being an issue, would you recommend this or the Karu 16? I’d miss the ability for wood fire, but the burner control seems better, the thermometer more accurate, and comes with a half door which I can’t currently find on ooni’s website for the Karu.

    between this or the dome dual fuel what do you think is the best buy? feel like the dome is more versatile

      I still love the Dome. I think this one will come down to how badly you'd want to make a 20" pizza or the ability to easily cook two pizzas at once. To me, that's the biggest selling point of the Koda 2. The Dome has more insulation and incredible performance (and my wife likes the looks of this oven 10x more!), so it's still a top choice for us.
