DC53 steel: almost twice the toughness, better wear resistance, and smaller carbide size compared to D2 steel, capable of 62-64HRC working hardness. Very similar with Bohler-Uddeholm Sleipner steel, with slightly more Carbon, and less Mo and V.
Question, every tool kit i look at for knife maintenance says its high quality and its the best ..however i have bought junk before thinking it might be good. Can you recommend the BEST tool kit for working with knives? High quality hard bits that will perform well, cost is not really a big factor, naturally i dont need titanium but i value your opinion and i cant find an affiliate link for tools
It’s soooo cool to see DC53 used DC53 is to D2, 9Cr18 and VG-10 What Magnacut is to M390, S30V & S90V It’s a REALLY cool steel, that should really replace D2 in 50-100$ knives It’s stainless, tougher, yet has a similar edge retention due to its higher harden-ability It and Nitro V are just fantastic midrange replacements to D2 & 9Cr18
$60 for the ones you have, which have nasty looking micarta especially around the pivot. And $170 for the "lacquer" ones?? No way. I didn't see the blade steel on those but there's nothing it could be to justify that price imo.
Have you ever experienced a Winkler sheath? Every time I hear knives going in or out of kydex I cringe. You'll probably love his knives and axes as well...
@@NeevesKnives It's spectacular. Kydex within leather and a felt interior. No sound whatsoever. They are designed in communication with special forces, as are his knives and axes.
I've noticed more recently that the video quality has improved on your posts. Thanks

its still 14c i agree
why companies choose d2 for an "outdoors" fixed blade is beyond me
I said it's like they want it to fail 😂
I like the look of the UntillTheEdge fixed blade.
Just picked up an petrified fish clip point in 154cm for 89$ great deal
Knife oil stained tf outta the micarta around the pivots on the two ute folders
I want that UTE fixie!
For the D-trail, they shouldn’t have that orange Micarta. They should use a black Micarta or black G10 instead.
