    bought the Ryzen 3 3200GE version for just $100, awesome performance on linux. Also love how easily accessible the inside of the fan is to remove fluff.

    Thanks for the video. Very informative. Based on what you've shown, I'll pop mine open and double check the configuration, and look at adding secondary storage. I have a WD My Cloud on the network, but getting software to access that is a bit of a nuisance. I was thinking of playing with Plex and related software, and adding secondary storage on-board would be a simple approach with less clutter.

    Very informative video, M75q Tiny Gen 2 is quite an attractive model with low price. Renoir really is killing the competition in SFF and laptop market!(only if these are more available and popular) Here I'd like to have some questions:
    How's the thermal performance?(temperature and noise during daily usage and/or benchmarks, )
    Is there VRAM(UMA) setting in the BIOS?
    This should be located in BIOS(press del at power up)=>Config(or Devices)=>Display, called "UMA Frame buffer Size"(or Total Graphics Memory), you should be able to select from Auto up to 2G
    Thanks in advance!

    • @techmo2020
      @techmo2020  3 года назад +3

      The thermal is really ok for my case, I never pass 50 for normal usages and when running multiple VMs it runs to 60 and fan starts to work, it's not loud though :)
      Renoir is a good choice too, but in my market its more expensive than thinkpad and also doesn't have ryzen 5 and 7 options.

    Very cool. I saw that you can also update the processor on it.
    I also saw on the Lenovo website that it even comes with the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750GE processor
    Searching the AMD website I saw the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G which has practically the same configurations as the 4750GE only with a base clock of 200 Mhz faster.
    So, I was wondering if I can upgrade the processor to a 4750G using the same cooler that comes with this mini pc.

    • @stevenv2190
      @stevenv2190 3 года назад

      The BIOS and most likely the AGESA may be custom built for Lenovo to limit what processors this unit can use. Let alone I don't think the power supply can power the 65W processor. I have many M75q boxes and they use a 35W Ryzen 3 Pro 3200GE.

    • @felipedantas963
      @felipedantas963 3 года назад +3

      No, I needs to have the E at the end (Ryzen 7 Pro 4750GE), that means it is a 35W CPU, the limit it can take.
      The version ending just in G is a 65W CPU, it will not work and there is a risk to damage the board VRM and will overheat for sure.

    • @g1patnaik
      @g1patnaik Год назад

      I think you need to check the motherboard compatibility (also recommendations ) for your new CPU and if your current motherboard is listed, then you may use. Just my understanding, not sure.

    So, i was very surprized to see the board set up to take a PCIe slot, though obviously a custom factory GPU/network card still pretty surprizing, as, so far as i know, only the P320 tiny has a PCIe slot and no M series tinys have them

  • @denvera1g1
    @denvera1g1 3 года назад +3

    Very strange, it looks like there are 2x M.2 pin outs but no slot, and no mounting hardware, i wonder what these would be for, did you order yours without WiFi/LTE? Would be dissapointing if they didnt include the slots if you dont order it with the device, because i was planning on adding an M.2 drive along side the HDD

      It's not specified what architecture the gpu uses. It's assumed to be Vega, but you literally can't find in any place that is not plainly assuming. As for the core count's it depends on what APU you choose. You can search this on google for the core count of the GPU once you choose the APU

    • @techmo2020
      @techmo2020  3 года назад +1

      I don't know the exact architecture, as @blake Vargas mentioned, it is not specified, and it's a OEM processor, so we don't have much Information. What I can say is I do light gaming on it and video editing and I didn't encounter slightest issue so far.

    • @techmo2020

      it would depend on the CPU you buy, but GPU related performance is somehow similar to Ryzen 5 3400G and difference would be marginal.

  • @denvera1g1
    @denvera1g1 3 года назад

    I have a 3400G and a 4650G i will try them both in my M75Q gen2 once it arrives to see if the CPU can be upgraded, though with that tiny heat sink you would probably be limited to "GE" processors or Athlons

      @@techmo2020
      Before any of this i'll be testing the 4750GE in the tiny against the Apple M1 Mac Mini, noticed that my work laptop with 4750u was not only slightly faster in handbrake than the Mac Mini, but the laptop also used ~25% less power to transcode the same video to H265
      Seeing as i bought the Mac Mini to transcode to H265 24/7, i was a bit upset given the price over the 8 core tiny, especially sinse it was supposed to be on a 50% more efficient node than Ryzen, let alone being a RISC processor
      What were the circumstances of the upgrade? I could understand it not working if they went from a 3400GE to say a 4650G/GE. I'm hoping they didnt have the issue going from a 3200GE to a 3400G, i was hoping to take the 4750GE out and putting it in my portable file server(cant seem to find the GE models on ebay), and throwing the ebay 4650G from my file server into the Tiny, was hoping to have a small gaming rig with the 4650G(for older games), with the higher iGPU frequency and GPU power budget than the GE models, i could use windows power plans to keep the CPU power under 20w and leave the rest for the iGPU
      Was hoping to get the idle/peak power usage down on the file server with the 4750GE, with 2 extra cores it will help with the interupts from the dual 40G network card and 16xSSD array, keeping the frequnecy lower by spreading across more cores is key for a long run time on UPS, keeping the temps lower also helps to reduce dust build up in dirty environments.
