- My great uncle, Francis Richard "Frank" Stockon, was an American writer and humorist, best known today for a series of innovative children's fairy tales that were widely popular during the last decades of the 19th century. A comtemporary of Mark Twain, he also wrote many delightful short stories which I will continue narrating, with this being the first video in the series.
Stories in this volume:
The Lady or The Tiger? - A Piece of Red Calico - A Thing That Glistened - A Tale of Negative Gravity

@@TalesUntoldYT you’re most welcome Steve!
Every married man knows the pain of the second story.
It felt like there should be more to it. Being a woman, it seems unfinished.
Mr. Stockton. I googled your uncle Frank Stockton. This is what I found : The overall story is an allegory for the reader's definitions of justice and fate. The door represents fate, while the tiger represents punishment and even death. The lady represents reward and innocence. The story begs the question of what happens when our systems of justice are tampered with and become unreliable. Mr. Stockton, I felt the answer lay with each individual regarding how they viewed justice ~ just as I found in the Wiki paragraph here (above), I felt that the Lover was a good and kind person and would not die. That good will triumph, so I felt he would out-smart the Princess who knew she could not have him and didn't want anyone else to have him either.
Excellent analogy! Thank you!
That picture is beautiful and so relaxing to look at, I'll have to listen to this on a large screen ❤
❤❤❤
I love these !!!!
A new wonderful series of videos! Thanks so much Steve. So relaxing on a rainy day in our city!! Looking forward more videos on this series. Late watching!! Hopefully you will do more on missing people and indigenous women!! Thanks again for your sharing great videos!! Take care. Please tell Nicole hello and hug Mr. Mulder for me and I say hello 🤗
Thanks, Judy!
The princess directed her lover to the door on the right. He accepted that choice. He knew her barbarism. He knew she would direct him to the tiger. He also understood she knew this as well. She expected him to open the left door to avoid the tiger. The lover opened the right door where he found the beautiful lady and not the tiger.
I agree wholeheartedly! Thanks for listening!
