We love our dogs so much❤ We lost one a couple of years ago that we adopted as a senior and got to love him for the last four years of his life. He saw me through my cancer treatments and was my husbands garden buddy...but he was so much more, as he fiercely protected his brothers (a cat and a chiuahaha). Our Jack is missed every day. We are better to have loved him❤

I can really relate to this video. My dog ( American Foxhound Korean Jindo mix ) I've gotta say is my best friend. I bought her for the wife for company when I was constantly working out of town. She was 7 weeks old and already paper trained when we got her. Very intelligent and loving animal. Anyway, after we bonded ( the wife calls me "her person" ) I found myself missing the damn dog more than my family when I was working out of town if you can believe it! I ended up taking a new job for less money so I could be home every night. Crazy sounding I know. Anyway, dogs are truly man's best friend.

I hope he can see me now. I'd ask him how'd I do

We were never blessed with having any children so our kids (Dogs) have always been our constant companions. We love & consider
everyone of them that we have ever had to be our kids, they have always received all the love that we can show them & in some ways
probably more love than you can give an ever changing/evolving human. I have to admit that I suffer from severe manic depression & consider suicide on many occasions & the one thing or reason that I dont go through with it is because of the love I have for my little girl & the worry of what would happen to her if I did end it all.

In addition to these being great stories about human’s best friend, there’s value in looking at how these people became missing. Out of the six, only one involved foul play. Three were due to injuries and two to getting lost. Imagine what all would’ve been said had the female athlete seeing she was highly athletic, experienced trail runner and in that specific area - if she’d not been found, but her dog had, which is often the case. The possibility of injury would’ve been bandied about, but seeing how people do (not a criticism), I think her family/friends would’ve believed primarily she’d met with foul play or possibly gotten by a mountain lion. The four-year old is a good lesson in how far young kids can get in a very short amount of time. If her dog hadn’t followed her, there would’ve been a strong suspicion that she’d been kidnapped, based on mom only being gone several minutes and the child nowhere to be seen. I bring this up not to be critical, but to point out that one should, in light of no evidence of foul play, go strongly with the odds that a person missing under these type of circumstances is likely lost or injured.

Not a rescue story but we used to have a dog named Bella who had been abused before we got her. She was terrified of everything. Literally everything. But when push came to shove she was a protector. I have PTSD and other health issues, and she was able to act like a service dog and alert me when I needed to sit or other things as well. We didn't have to train her for that part she just was very emotionally intelligent for lack of a better term. She wasn't a service dog and I didnt take her out with me but she was smart.
Once, she chased off a racoon that attacked our smaller dog. She kept getting between the racoon and my Dad as my Dad ran out to grab the small dog. Small dog made a full recovery and was fine after a while but it was scary for a bit.
But then there was also one time when my nieice wanted me to chase her and honestly I knew it wouldnt end well for me but I did it anyway. I was right and Bella bodyslammed me. It hurt like hell but all I could do was laugh. I wasn't even a little mad. All I could think was that at least, no matter who it was, she would always protect the kids from danger.
She really was the best girl. I'll always miss her.

Why would someone run along a path that one misstep sends you down a cliff? Why do so many people need to be rescued with helicopters and 100s of volunteers? I really do not understand running in a dessert which freezes and not taking gear to keep her warm in case of an emergency. People ought to be fined for hiking alone.
