    Great walk through!! Not many videos out there where each explanation made sense without abandoning your audience. I “beared” through the whole video and it really helped. Thanks!

    Very good video, nice explanations. Helped me diagnose a loose upper strut nut on new coilovers. Tightened it down, no more clunking over bumps! Thank you

    Fantastic. Every other video I've found diagnosing a clunk in a newly lowered car always blames the endlinks. Reality is, most people simply did not install their springs correctly!

    Awesome video! My strut mounts are covered by a plate and the body of the car, so i cant do a bounce test to even see if they are moving. (2004 Passat.) Makes me want to cry...

      @@TheBrowneTown RUclips makes it difficult for me to see when someone has replied. Appoliges for lateness. Fixing the issue... a little. I did realize my struts were not installed fully correctly, your part about using vice grips to hold the spring helped! My theory now is my inner tie rods being bad that they are causing the clunking. The wheels do not have play but the joints are free enough to swivel easily. Then again maybe I'm just low on blinker fluid and thats been the real issue. 🤣

      after 9 months of trying to figure it out, the VW is at a VW specialist shop, they just called and said they cant hear any clunks... My friend was just with me and he could hear them. So i told them to keep listening... The mystery/misery continues...@@TheBrowneTown

    Hi thank you for the video, my struts came preassembled with springs as direct replacement for my vehicle and i have this noise, so im guessing the top nut needs tightening?

    • @TheBrowneTown
      @TheBrowneTown  10 месяцев назад +1

      If you didn't have the noise before then it's safe to say the preassembled strut is to blame if it's a like for like replacement.
      If you ordered new ones to fix an existing knocking sound, then it could be the new struts or it could be elsewhere in the suspension system.

      @@TheBrowneTown thanks for the reply I ordered new spring struts to replace leaking expensive air struts on a lexus. The noise came right after installing the new struts and i checked everything is tight except for the top nut you mention in the video so will give that a go. Thank you again and happy new years!

      I'm not familiar with the car so I can't really give advice on its set-up.
      Best bet would be to ask someone in a forum about the car.

      Sorry I can't help you, I don't know what car you have, what the strut assembly looks like, what tools you used etc.
      Are you sure you have exactly the right part, installed left and right hand sides correctly and have all the correct torque settings?
