Molly has appeared in merchandise and simulator games. Y can't u put her on the freaking show. Nia is fine enough. Molly could have appeared more often. I m not saying Rebecca is terrible because she is new, but she could have more back story instead of throwing her in as a replacement.
Emily is one of those characters who had lots of potential but was squandered by Mattel and kind of HiT

Emily really was a character that really seemed to fit well when the series turned away from Awdry. Looking at her basis and the years it was built, it wasn't far from Edward's "birth" which puts the two on a similar level. Also, as a kid and even today the design of her smokebox always looked like curly hair on models so the design felt natural for the class to be female.
Emily is in fact older than Edward. Emily was built in like the 1870s-1890s. Edward was built in the early 1900s.

I loved S7 Emily, she was a kind and caring engine, who was always looking out for the other engines.
I also love the Stirling Single Engine, and Emily’s Scottish accent is a nice touch.
I'm kinda sad that Molly basically got shafted even though she would've been way better than what we get with the newer characters or even Belle or Mavis could've been apart of the steam team

Molly had potential, but for some reason this was never explored.
Which is a shame, because none of the other engines really had a shy personality, and her traits certainly stood out.

I honestly wish that Edward was the main character that Emily interacts with. I see so much potential in their dynamic but for some reason, the hit era and Brenner era never did anything with it. :(

I've always had a soft place in my heart for Emily, I really love her aesthetic, and her coaches.
Also, according to the fan documentary "Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends: The Live-Action Legacy (2020)," the large model for Edward and James' cabs have been preserved by a fan.

I feel like that would've been a little too predictable.
I was really meh on Emily when she was introduced and passed her off on Mattel/HiT using her as 'the girl' and not fleshing her out (considering I saw less of Mavis from them whom I DID like) but over time she really did grow on me. She fit in perfectly with the team and I think that was because she was treated like all the other engines and not just a mandatory 'requirement'. It really shows the difference between her and characters like Nia and Rebecca who ARE only highlighted for their ethnicity (Nia) and being a 'new girl' (Rebecca) despite the series already having a great cast of female characters, Emily being front and center.
I think that sort of sets apart a lot of the early girl characters away from what they think is 'appropriate' for the show now. She's a girl but she was still apart of the Steam Team and they never needed to call attention to it because of that. She was a hard working train and that's all that mattered and the same thing was shown for the other female characters which only makes it all the stranger that Mattel stated there was a problem. Hell, Nia can't even take the title of being the first non-British, ahem, POC train (god) so what the hell makes her so special at all?
Oh, and Emily's accent tops it. I always confused it for Irish because she didn't have the same tone as the twins to me so yeah.
You have to give it to them, at least Emily looks like a character Awdry might have created
1. There is only onevGNR G3 left in the world, and is on display at the NRM
2. The curves on Emily that look like hair, that is actually what the class looks like! So clever choice in regards to getting an engine class to show her femininity

I know some people my disagree with me but replacing Duck with her for the Steam Team was hands down the best choice they made for the character.
I like her cgi series uk dub because she sounds Irish and I laughed when Donald and Douglas were arguing who works with her it made it like they're fighting for a girl. But I think the engines were human I think she's more for Henry and I see her as a big sister to Thomas.

Emily's always been one one of my favorite characters in the series, which is strange considering she was effectively a character pulled out of thin air.
It's a shame she lacks a back story; lsje sadly marks the first major character (bar Sally) who just shows up one day, with no explanation as to why they are there or where they came from. The concept is quite backwards compared to the other RWS characters, and I feel that's one of the biggest reasons as to why so many people generally don't like her. (That and the violent personality changes the producer's keep giving her...)
At least she has a character to her and we got know what she is like and over time she was more naturally promoted to being the main character after calling call engines as opposed to nia and rebecca who were forced onto views and mattel told us to accept without question.
I do question why it took until season 24 to give emily the number 12 after so many years of being on the series.

@@Dat-Mudkip Well considering how she was promoted to main character after calling all engines she might as well have gotten the number 12 anyway. I don't understand the point of characters like charlie having the number 14, rosie getting 37, philip getting 68, nia getting 18, rebecca getting 22, etc people can Identify them with or without it, same going for other main characters. Hell I considered emily to be engine 12 because of her presents as a main character.

It just occurred to me...
Why did they introduce Rebecca, when Molly fills the same gaps and then some?
Molly's a kind yellow female tender engine, who has notable strength, a notably different personality (shy), has a real life basis that wouldn't look farfetched in a RWS story, etc.
The only real difference is that Molly isn't accident-prone like Rebecca, and Molly lacks that "high energy" spirit (which isn't a bad thing).

I still remember when I entered Primary School back in 2010 I had two classmates also named Emily. That fact got 6 year old me really excited when I first learned that, for this was my first time meeting someone in person who shared their first name with a TTTE character.

We named our first cat after Emily, and she was a terror. She died January of this year after 15 years of life.
Emily's base, LOCOMTIVE WISE, was involved in the event that was the basis for "The Flying Kipper". I know that you made a video about this, but could be why Emily's back story is not well known.

Of course the awdry characters have much more history to them than the strictly TV ones. But there's a good few TV ones that I love as well. The ones I like the most are Cranky and Hiro. I also believe those are the only TV characters Awdry would actually like.

I don't mind Rebecca and Mia as long as Mattel actually makes them worthy of replacing Edward and Henry which sadly never really happened. They could have easily as used Molly and Ashima.

Don't know if you like the HIT era or not, i personally don't have many problems with it, you should do a video on the hit characters and sense their story is not as in depth as the others you could probably do it in one video, i would certainly like to see it.
