    I have been tubeless on my roadbike for 4 years with a few punctures but I have never needed an inner tube yet. The key to success is picking a tyre and rim combination which is easy to get on and off and keep the sealant topped up. I use stans grail rims and schwalbe pro one 28mm tyres. Tubeless gives you a better grip as the pressures are lower and could even reduce the front wheel washing out on corners. I can run 60 psi in the front without it feeling soggy but have great control on the rougher roads and in the corners. Don't knock it until you try it.

    You've got to look at canyon endurace AL 7.0 full 105 r7000 8,2 kg 1100€... personally I'd look for a used bike - i got mine (fuji transonic 1.3) for about 700€ (ultegra) changed the handlebar and saddle for carbon(aero) ones and now I have an amazing aero machine for 1000. well below 8 kg.

    My star budget road bike is the Giant Contend, you can get it for about £400 end of year clearance, its sub 10kg possibly around 9.6kg I think and is made in Giant's own factories which are pretty much state of the art for mass produced bikes, has a lifetime warranty on frame and forks and has the highest weight limits of major brands. Yes its only Claris but you get a wide ratio cassette and 700x28 tyres. Many brands are effectively importers and the factory can change frequently depending on who offers the best price so frame quality can vary. I think Cube are buying from Bangladesh for some frames with inferior alignment and paintwork. Planet X do some fantastic bikes for the money using very good CF factories for some models but the company itself is pretty much a box shifter and the warranty is poor. I think some Boardman's and Carrera's are coming from Insera Sena in Indonesia and others from a Cambodian factory but don't know which one. Trying to find the real manufacturer of many bike brands is difficult to say the least but Giant do actually make their own and they are a class above most of their competitors in my opinion because of this. Many brands used to use Giant as the OEM for their bikes but Giant became too expensive. Last I heard Canyon was still using Giant for their aluminium frame bikes but that could have changed now.
    The big issue with Decathlon and btwin bikes is their low weight limits compared to other brands. They can still be great value for light riders though but they have had probably more than any other brand the highest number of frame recalls possibly due to people ignoring their low weight limits.

      @wdadwawdadawdwdwa4133 4 года назад

      Would you go for disc brakes or rim on the contend?

    • @bonzobanana1
      @bonzobanana1 4 года назад +1

      @@wdadwawdadawdwdwa4133 I know there are quite a few Contend models but I was referring to the entry level model with rim brakes and mainly Claris groupset because its such incredible value. I think they do 3 grades of frame for Contend the all 6061 aluminium model, the mainly 6011 for the main triangle with the stays being 6061 and they do the top end full 6011 frame. I'd be tempted by the full 6011 frame and disc brakes model if I was spending more. I'm not a competitive cyclist though and find Claris absolutely fine and also I'm a tight arse so soon as diminishing returns start being obvious I just keep with the cheaper option. Tourney crap, Claris really good, Tiagra/Sora etc marginally better but much more expensive so Claris selected.

      Where did you get all this information !
      Nearly all bike frame made in Asia , so a brand is not brand really ?
      The big bike factory in Taiwan makes most the frames ,
      It seems silly saying Giant trek boardman Ribble are better than another

    • @bonzobanana1
      @bonzobanana1 4 года назад

      @@leesuuton5083 That's not true at all, the biggest exporter of bikes to the EU is Cambodia and there are huge number of factories in Taiwan but even more in mainland China with many factories in Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc. The EU has a tariff free arrangement with Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangladesh so they are favoured countries for exporting bikes to the EU. My point about Giant is they manufacture frames and forks in their own factories to a very high consistent quality but other brands with no manufacturing facilities themselves often change factories frequently depending on who is cheapest at the time, the quality of these factories vary plus brands may use different factories for different price points or different markets so it gets very difficult to relate a certain quality level to each brand if they aren't a manufacturer themselves.
      It's worth checking out Hambini on youtube to see how some expensive brands have poor tolerances and also Luescher Technik who shows how some carbon fibre frames from big brands have voids and other issues despite sometimes 5 figure price tags.
      You have to understand there is a huge difference between perceived quality vs actual quality, actual quality requires a high quality manufacturing facility with good engineering tolerances and materials, perceived quality is often just related to the price point and/or brand but that brand may have huge costs and a very high profit margin.
      Based on the evidence as I see it Giant overall as the best brand for quality vs price point except for entry level models where some of their bikes have inferior components to perhaps shop brands and direct sellers.

    • @bikotic
      @bikotic  4 года назад

      i can tell the difference from GP4000 to GP5000 Tubeless, but its subtle and to do with lower pressures as much as anything - cant find a figure for vittoria rubino, but even the Pro version is 3.6watts per tyre slower than the GP5000 TL - as far as it goes, pretty cheap gains!

    I would always go for aluminium at that price point but the Carrera could be a bit of a bargain. If you sell the groupset and wheels unused and upgrade to maybe second hand ultegra and a set Mavic Aksiums you'd probably still be within budget and be a bit lighter than the Boardman. Only problem is, it's still a Carrera so zero street cred.

      Yes, as groupsets go up in quality they also get lighter. But the frame itself will be a poor quality carbon an thus be pretty heavy compared to other carbon frames, but that is the cheapest carbon bike you can get.

    Any idea about affordable aero bike with carbon wheels ? Aeroad on 105 group with raynolds wheels for just 2700 EUR but withoutintegrated bar and stem or Propel advanced pro 1 2019 with ultegra on slr 42/65 wheels with ugly but integrated bar and stem. I don't see any other aero bike for around 3000 EUR.
    Btw Systemsix 2019 basic model costs just 2800 EUR , but with aluminium 35mm fulcrum 400, so it is another 1000 EUR for proper carbon set of wheels

    Loved the video mate! Ya live not far from me haha. I'm looking to buy a new bike budget is 1k buy I could push for 1.5k if the difference will be noticeably better. Which bike overall should I get? I want something which has hydraulic discs, and comes out of the shop with the best tyres and ideally something aero or the most aeroish and lightest for the money.
    So to sum it up, which bike will be fastest at the price bracket? Haha. Thanks.

    I would be tempted by a boardman carbon over an alloy frame , due to the state of UK roads !
    Pot holes , cracks in roads , drains that have sunken etc !
    IF a carbon frame absorbs bumps better than alloy then carbon frame could be a deal breaker !
    Every good alloy bike has carbon forks so carbon must be. Better
