There was something special about them Summer Nights when Marty and Joe were on the radio in the neighborhoods of Cincinnati. People on their porch, back porch and the corner stores with the game going just gave you a special warm feeling that we will never have again. Miss ya Joe! God bless Marty!
Mary's been the voice of the Reds my whole life and its crazy to think about how it won't be like that anymore. I will miss him and I wish him good luck in his retirement. #ThankYouMarty
Hes been in my life as the voice since I was 4 years old. My greatest memory is growing up poor, hitting rocks with a wiffle ball bat across the Miami river listening to him and Joe. in the 70s and early 80s. Although I now live in Texas, I would never watch or listen to the Reds without expecting his voice. I will miss this voice and The Reds will never be the same. 40 + years belong to Marty Brennaman. You gave us great memories in bad places and made it a better for us. Congrats on your retirement. All the best on your endeavours with you and your family
Twins fan here but enjoy Baseball altogether, Congratulations on your Retirement. Marty Brennaman was a great Broadcaster and you don't even have to be a Reds fan to appreciate his work.
Thank You Marty for all the years behind the microphone. “ This One Belongs To The Reds” is your signature. Have a great retirement. God bless you Sir.
I have never known Reds baseball without Marty. Today a part of my childhood has left. Such a bittersweet day for me. thank you Marty for all of the memories.

Marty, thank you for all the memories. You were a staple for 45 years of my life. You were the only reds play by play person I ever known as a reds fan. I remember watching games on TV muted with You and Joe calling games. THANK YOU
Thank you so much Marty, you'll be greatly missed! When I moved here at 5 years old & moved in with my grandparents, I was a scared, nervous little boy moving to a totally new place with people I didn't really know at the time. But my first night there my grandpa (RIP) was listening to you and the old lefty. He told me to pull up a chair & listen to the game & from that moment I fell in love with baseball & especially the Reds! You & my grandpa help ease me into a rough situation & all because of the way you call a game, thanks again Marty & all the best in your future endeavors. You're forever a Red!
I echo other fans. I'm 44 and have never known a Reds season without Marty. He and Joe Nuxhall brought the game to me as a kid. It wont be the same without that Titanic struggle. Congrats on a fine career sir.
Marty I grew up listening to you and Joe, your voices were so comforting to me. When Joe died, a piece of me died. Now that your gone from the radio booth, you can never be replaced. Never!! Thank you Marty for all you have done for the Reds, and the great game of baseball. We will never forget you!!
I'm a Cardinals fan but always respected and enjoyed Marty's work when I had the chance to listen. Always sad to see the long-term guys go, especially the classy ones... Best of luck to both Marty and Reds
You have been the voice of the Reds for almost as long as I have been a Reds Fan. Thank You Marty & I miss Joe, you guys are the VERY BEST ! #THANKYOUMARTY
I wonder how many people know he was the national radio announcer for the iconic Christian Laettner shot in the Duke/Kentucky 1992 classic? I never lived in the Midwest so I only know him for his national radio work on college football and basketball but he was really, really good at both.
I'm sure he will have fun in retirement...and I'm also glad he mentioned Tommy Thrall. I've listened to Tommy for 6 seasons as the voice of the Blue Wahoos and we were thrilled he was asked to go to Cincy and work with Marty. Reds Nation will like Tommy. He's a number one broadcaster.

Just got to see Marty tonight as the key speaker at the Moeller sports stagg. Feb 2022 Marty is doin well and still a favorite. Great career. Great retirement.
This was very touching and what makes sports and baseball in particular, a wonderful experience. Marty is a Reds Legend, although all baseball fans should pay tribute to Marty Brennaman. Enjoy your retirement.
I grew up around Dayton, OH. Marty's first season was when I was 4. So I have no memory of anything other than Marty being the voice of the Reds on radio. It sure will be weird not hearing him any longer. My favorite call of his will always be the Dave Pallone Game. I also loved the "apology" the stupid commissioner forced him to make afterwards. You could tell he didn't mean a word of it, and I loved it.
As a long time Met fan, I can understand. I grew up on 2 long time broadcasters from Day 1. Ralph Kiner and Bob Murphy. After Murphy retired< within 6 months he was gone. Kiner retired, but stuck around from time to time until his death in 2014. Salute to Marty and the Cincinnati Reds.
Marty - As a kid I growing up in the suburbs I listened to every baseball game I could pick up on the radio after dark - Chicago both teams, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, New York both teams, St Louis, even Kansas City when the conditions were right. Listening to you I felt like I had a front row seat at the ballpark. Thank you for everything you gave to the game and the fans. This one belongs to Marty Brennaman.
As a kid I thought Marty and Joe were the only baseball announcers on the radio. I just figured they called every teams baseball games for them. Then one day I learned how to tune the dial on accident. The radio picked up a station I guess out of St. Louis and it was a Cardinals-Mets game. I was shocked that the familiar voice of Marty and Joe had been replaced by whoever the announcers were at the time, and I didn't like it. I figured out quick how to tune it back to WLW. In the 9th inning of Game 4 of the '90 World Series, my dad turned the TV down so we could listen to Marty and Joe call it. Some 22 years later, I turned the TV down so my kids could hear Marty call both of Bailey's no-hitters. In the words of Joe Nuxhall "Thank ya Marty"
Very nice, I hate to see the long time voice of teams, I like, retire. Guys that do play by play become the team, Vin Scully will always be the Dodgers guy for as long as the team exists. Best of Luck Sir enjoy your retirement
