I looked under it, and all I saw was a hand grab it and a guy walk away with it. I was bummed, but just forgot about it after the next pitch. Apparently a few of the fans around the guy starting guilt tripping the guy, and told his 4-ish year old son to go over to me and give it to me. I felt kind of bad taking it, because that kid looked kinda sad. But then, one of the guys in the dugout comes into the stands, shakes the kid's hand, and gives him a ball with all the team's signatures on it. Turns out he was the team manager, and he came over to me and shook my hand. He gave me and my dad free tickets for the next game we went to. I still have that ball in my closet today.

Agree. Like the one where the ball was just barely fair and the fan reached over and grabbed it... I think most of us if we were sitting there would try to grab a ball that was coming that close that we thought was foul

The worst “fan” I’ve heard of was in a Gaelic football game that my Dad went to with me. (Gelic football is a sport native to Ireland, where I’m from) He heard of this woman from a mutual friend that she had obtained a box ticket, which is a ticket that has a view of the whole field, is the highest seats in the stadium, allowing to see the whole pitch perfectly. They are tickets reserved for companies who buy a certain amount of seats, and they are sponsors of the sport. There is no way to obtain these tickets other than having connections for that reason. She managed to get a seat for the club final, stayed for 30mins while she was on the phone ignoring the game, before leaving before the end of the first half. Mind you FOUR GAMES take part on this day, Gaelic and Hurling, both minor and Adult. She didn’t stay for a full game, only being there for a half. If she didn’t want to watch the game why obtain the ticket in the first place? The box tickets are issued by a corporation, so if she wasn’t interested she could’ve sold it or said she wasn’t interested. You can’t officially buy these tickets, so there’s no official price. A standard ticket goes for €80 quid or so, so box tickets are quite expensive. What a waste.
She took someone up on their free ticket offer in order to reinforce her networking and advance her career... she was likely on the phone making more money than you. That's life.
I'm guessing that was in Croke park. People take things for free even if they don't want/need it. Maybe she was hoping that someone else also showed up that never did. This is one of the problems of giving free stuff.
Actually sounds like that lady had work to do there, either reviewing, networking or other. I'd rather question the system that allows some people to have more privileges than others. But that's how the economy works unfortunately.
