I got mine two days before your video came out. My previous first VR headset was the Reverb G2. I must say that I'm also really impressed with this. I really like the ability to play stand alone and then fire up my high end gaming PC to run Steam VR games. I would love to see a detailed video on Virtual Desktop and best settings to extract maximum performance. Keep up the great work!
Quest 2 PCVR is a little better than Rift S IMO and as a big bonus I mostly use Quest 2 wirelessly for PCVR with a good router = no issues and no quality loss. Can't really imagine using wired VR headset anymore. Don't have Quest 3 yet, but it should be better, compared to Q2 due to the better optics. However, because it is still quite new, there might be hickups with Virtual Desktop or Quest Link until they smoothen them out with updates.@@firstclaims30

The main thing is, you hear people talk about it being a little grainy with the pass through and yeah it is but not that much with plenty of light BUT you’re not even looking at that stuff. That’s your real world. You couldn’t give less of a shit. What you ARE looking at is the MR things being put into your room and that’s crisp as all hell. So really, your reality is just background peripheral vision. It’s ace. This thing is gonna eat Apple’s lunch.
I’ve been playing VR since I got the DK1 ten years ago. Got the DK2. Rift S. Go. Quest 1 and now Quest 3 and I can safely say, without a doubt, quest 3 is next level shit. I haven’t been this hyped for VR in a VERY long time.
That's super great info. I went from Vive to Index to Quest 2, and now I'm just really weighing decisions on Quest 3. I'm more of a PC player, but I have quite a few Quest 2 games, and I'm confident the Q3 will be satisfying enough of an upgrade. Though FOV still struggling to be much of an upgrade, I'm not as happy with so small still. Would love to see MR, but I don't think I'll spend too much time using it. But for visitors, family and friends, I'm sure it will be mind-blowing cool.

I sold my quest 2 because I just hated everything about it, but last night I watched an entire movie via virtual desktop and I was in awe. watched the incredibles in my own giant theater. I also washed the dishes while watching youtube via pass through, I cant tell you how absolutely mind blowing that is. will say a headstrap with battery is a MUST for comfort.
Funny how much better the passthrough quality looks like in videos. I guess most people wouldn't assume how grainy it actually is, and that you have to lean into 5-10 cm from your monitor to see any text on it. Although it is excellent for feeling settled in your normal space, orienting yourself, etc.
It depends entirely on lighting. In a well light room, I can read text on my monitor fairly easily at a normal distance. As soon as things get predominantly dark, light sources become very overexposed.

I upgraded from the Quest 1 & I'm blown away with mine. The best tip I've heard for the head strap getting uncomfortable is to put a baseball cap on backwards underneath the headset.
Hi Seb, when the Quest 2 first came out everyone was raving about how much better it was than the original quest. My brother bought one so I was able to do a direct comparison to my quest and I felt that in many ways it was a downgrade, overall if felt like a cheaper device, especially the picture quality compared to the oled of the quest1, even though the quest 2 had higher resolution. So I skipped quest2. Have been enjoying ReverbG2 for the most part. Still want a good standalone for demos though. Looks like this is it. Thanks Seb, you’re review/reaction is the one I always trust. You’re the man!
The controllers of the ReverbG2 I guess the newer are better but the Touch Controllers on all the Quest1, 2, & 3 & Rift CV1 are so much better then most controllers except the Valve Index controllers that only work with light house tracking and routinely break after a short period of time according to some comments of owners.
How is the picture quality compared to Reverb G2, I heard on another channel that this had better lenses (ofc pancake vs fresnel) but that the Quest 3 was a return to screen door effect.
Great on hand first impressions review Sebastian, from talking to owners of it in Horizon Worlds where I built a few worlds, they love it. Also I know a few others that love it but right now don't use it until they get a better head strap, namely the Bobo VR M3 Pro head strap. I don't work for that company I just have researched and asked people how they like the BoboVR M2Pro on their Quest2 everyone said it was the most comfortable head strap so when I bought my Quest 2 I also bought Bobo VR M2 Pro strap also said it was much better then the original clothe strap. I also know spend hours in Horizon Worlds building and learning scripts so my worlds with have a little more inactiveness. My last 1-8 Worlds tied together as one experience is called "A Goonies' Adventure 1-8". I'm working on the Indiana's Adventure next.

Pls compare it directly with Pico4 for PCVR. I read that the overlap on Q3 is very small about 73% but Pico4 has more then 90% overlap. And do you have mura/stuck pixels/glitches/warping/tearing?
I had both. Q3 is slightly ahead for PCVR but not worth a Upgrade if you using for both virtual desktop. For standalone it is a huge upgrade to the pico 4 though. Binocular overlap is not a Problem at least for me it's about 3/4 of the field of view. But for me it is the same with pico 4. Q3 has way better lenses but still not worth the upgrade to pay 500 just for better lenses and nothing more.

You should have put the Quest 2 on immediately before you wore the 3 if you are doing a proper comparison. Don't rely on memory especially as you have been wearing many headsets.
It is a little grainy, but have plenty of light and it’s really very good, the MR components are crisp and that’s what you focus on. The rest is background.

I mean, I get you're trying to be funny, but what do you expect? It's good relative to previous iterations of the quest, I'd even go as far as to say it's on par with quest 1 native rendering. Its crux is lighting. If you use it in a darkly lit room, it turns potato fast.

@@skoda10 If you have your Quest plugged in via link cable then there is no real sensible limit to playtime. Even if the Quest slowly loses more power than it charges the play time is still a whole bloody day. Take a break for a lunch and you can probably stretch it to an all nighter too.

Try Airlink first, it's alrrady really good. VD can normally still improve some parts of the picture. ;)

Just curious why nobody has decided to put the bulk of the hardware on the back of the headset leaving the front to be more streamline and less heavy.
I am still waiting for Valve to make a move... however, i was not sure about upgrading my Quest 2? but you kind of sold it !

It’s not great but usable
The camera sensors are going to be tuned so they keep tracking in lower light. Grain goes away mostly when in a brighter room.
It is a little grainy, but have plenty of light and it’s really very good, the MR components are crisp and that’s what you focus on. The rest is background.

Its strange, but i find the Pico 4 sharper for PCVR. And even with less glare.
The Pico 4 does have higher resolution screens. I will test that myself!
