  • We're a family of 10 and this video is a tour of our small kitchen/dining area/homeschool room. I finally got some time when the house was quiet; this room is literally where EVERYTHING happens at this house, so it's rarely empty!

Melissa Greenway I always try to make a point to check on Andrea’s channel.
Even though I don’t share their religious beliefs it never kept me from enjoying Andrea’s videos.
On Sunday I thought about her and I clicked on her channel and saw Andrea’s situation videos and I was completely shocked!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes and I’m still finding it surreal.
She was a loving, creative, nature loving, kind hearted lady and will be missed.
My heart goes out to her wonderful family.
      R. I. P. Andrea.

I grew up in a hoarder house, l was the one at home who tried to make the house looked better. I had to try to organize our house with whatever I could find but they just kept bringing more and more things. I love to see an organized home even if it doesn't look like a magazine cover, but its functional and cozy. By the way how cool is to have your own fountain drink!

I took the video on Friday night when Tom was out and the kids were in bed. Thomas had a friend staying over and just as I was taking a picture at the end, his friend came in to get a drink from the water fountain. I couldn't believe it that I made it through without anyone appearing! Well... I did have to stop once because Tom called, but that was it.

Contact paper would work well for your plastic wrap box. Then it could be easily wiped clean. Maybe use some of the little kids artwork or their handprints under the contact paper. The Dollar Tree has designer contact paper if you don't want to use the clear version.

Thank you for sharing! You are REAL and that is so refreshing. Your philosophy is what we used to see in our parents generation. You are younger, so your grandparents generation. Function above looks...Yet, your home is adorable! My husband was one of 9 children and his parents continued to live in a small home...using the basement for bedrooms and the attic for storage as you are. It worked. They had such a close family and loved their parents very much! BTW, it wasn't always lack of funds that made that made that generation live that way...They just were NOT "keep up with the Jones" people. They were not materialistic, and had their priorities straight. "Enough is as good as a feast."

The spice idea is GENIUS! We love Asian and Indian food, and so I have a RIDICULOUS amount of spices in my pantry, and cooking with them requires a lot of “back and forth” putting bottles away. This is genius. I’m going to steal your idea :) Your organizational videos are like a pinterest thing, but yours actually work! Also, we use a large flower pot for our utensils. My mother used a (clean!!) vintage diaper pot for hers. Yours is pretty too :)

I just love the efficiency of your kitchen! You've maximized the space so well. I love the snack drawer idea! We actually had a similar situation with the rotten meat in the freezer thing happen to us. We did a huge renovation that required us to move out and while we had cleared the fridge of food, we had left the freezer full (power on). It was an unexpected renovation due to issues so we weren't thinking clearly. Eventually the power was shut off or the fridge was unplugged- I'm not sure - and yep, gross city! We couldn't afford a new fridge so we gagged our way through cleaning it. Worst smell ever!!!!

Andrea, I just stumbled upon your videos when I queried 'sewing'. I am enjoying them immensely. First and foremost, I love your calm voice. I am the daycare for my three grandchildren (5, 9, 12), and find my voice going nuclear way too often these days. From now on, every time I feel my patience vanishing, I will think of you and get a grip. For your rolling pins, you can sew a multiple pocket sling to hang on a wall or the front of a cabinet door just by hemming the sides of a length of fabric, then folding it up and sewing across the top of the fold for as many 'sling pockets' as you need. Put all the pockets on the same side to hang on a flat surface, or alternate sides to hang from that gorgeous pot rack. Oh, and that water fountain? That is brilliant!

I can relate to the fridge story, our freezer in the laundry got unplugged and as it was rarely opened it took awhile for the smell to really reveal itself and it was horrific. Even after a really good clean there was a trace odour when you opened it for a few months, almost like the plastic was sweating it back out! I actually started to puke cleaning it and my partner had to take over!

That's exactly how Tom and Dad were... puking off the side of the porch. I'm glad I missed the worst of it. We kept it outside for weeks with the doors open and tried several different things to get the smell out. Finally when there was just a hint of it left, we plugged it in. Once it was cold we couldn't smell it anymore.

The age-old solution to smelly refrigerators and freezers is after you've thoroughly washed and dried it to pack it full of crumpled newspaper and close the doors for a couple days. It may take a few repeats, but it will get the smell out. This also works with Tupperware and the like.

Lol! Keep it in mind for those plastic bowls. I am FOREVER finding that odd smelly leftover lost in the back of the fridge in a piece of Tupperware.

Thanks for the bread storage suggestion. We went to Home Depot today and did the same thing! I was so sick of stuffing all the bread and buns into my overfilled pantry. Now I have all the bread right by our toaster!

Andrea, you can free up the cabinet space currently occupied by your lids for your pots and pans by placing the lid over the handle of the pot and then hang it up on your awesome pan rack.
