Family of 5... Living in a Tiny House for 4 Years!

- 2 tall adults, 3 tall teenagers and 2 cute kitties have been living in the tiny house we designed and built with our own hands for over 4 years! Here's a tour!

This is the most livable tiny house I've seen, so many are totally impracticable. It's a credit to you and your family.
Thank you Michelle! We designed it by ourselves for how WE live so I think that makes a big difference.

I think it's great. Society has put too much expectation on each child getting their own room, some even with their own bathrooms. I love the tiny space. We raised our 2 kids in a 500 sq ft house with 1 bathroom. It worked. We all still love each other, lol. Now being empty nesters it's perfect. Your addition is lovely.

I had to share my room with a brother and I hated it. Kids need privacy. Period.

People comment on our small home (1950s cottage in Australia 🇦🇺) and I'm always saying if people did the math and worked out how long they spent at home we wouldn't need big mortgages. With work, studies, school, hobbies, extra caricular activies etc how many hours a week are we actually at home? ☕💕✨

This is the first time I've seen your video and I got to tell you I like how you added the addition and you don't have to justify why you didn't do anything.. you will get to it when you're ready.. I love your place I love the outdoor space and love your new dining room .I love the kids rooms upstairs that walk way is kind of scary I would have to have more protection cuz I probably lose my balance and still fall through the ropes I am a klutz... I think you did a wonderful job.. I love how you look out to nature and the stream and the trees.. seems perfect!!

Ha ha ha.... well, there are too many times to count that I would LOVE a dishwasher. Interestingly enough, we recently did an experiment with the number of dishes, cutlery and cups we keep readily available and it is amazing! Even the kids like having very few dishes around. I have a video planned where I'm going to talk about some of the practical ways we make it work. Thanks for watching 👍

Warm, functional, realistically curated to keep personality but avoid clutter, and absolutely dreamy, I enjoyed every second of this tour. I appreciate you making this video and sharing it. Inspiration abounds! I live in 600 sq foot condo in the city with an 11 and 14yo, and would love that dreamy outside space and creek. What a treasure you have there. ❤️ 🏡

I was raised in a house of 900 sq ft with 1 bathroom with 4 people. I never remembered it was small. My sister and I shared a bedroom. The extra bedroom was my mother's sewing room. My mother made all of our clothes, plus hers. Of we did not much money. But, I never remember doing without our basic needs. Sometimes, I think we need to go back to just basic needs. I think we would be a happier society. People have too much stuff now that we spend too much time worrying about keeping up with the Jones.
Beautiful home. I pretty much shared a tiny room with my sister always. We live in a lovely old Victoria house it had 3 bedrooms, and only the master bedroom had a closet. But I loved that home and those memories. Thank you for a peak into you home.

I never saw a tiny home with 3 teenagers, it can be done, maybe not by everybody but you make it work. We could hear the stream, fanstastic place to gather and relax.

It's beautiful ❤️🥰. It's actually livable unlike many makes you wonder how they manage with space. Most of them have no closet and very tiny eating/dining space. But you don't seem to have much storage in your room.... only the small close for clothes. Also noticed you have no TV. The addition is fantastic, that's what makes all the difference and makes it so real and livable. People need space really after all, that's what it shows.
This is the cutest tiny house I've ever seen. It's just beautiful and doesn't feel small. The covered outside space is beautiful. Nice to sleep outside

A wonderful cozy home , enough spacious for a big family. The only thing that feels uncomfortable for me - the steps upstairs and the safety . But probably everyone got accustomed to the staircase and to the corridor upstairs. It is a very good idea to separate space for the children. Great!!!!😊
Thanks for watching! Yes, it works for us. Believe it or not, my son almost jogs up and down the stairs.
We used to have a similar staircase up to an attic loft room and I used to run up and down it full speed as a kid. Its kind of like typing on a keyboard - your brain can get used to coordinating all kinds of crazy movements without even thinking about it 😅

Here, in India, this is a big house! Lol. We live in a 70 sq m apartment so the boys have to share a bedroom. We created an open space concept to make it look airy and spacious. Only our bedrooms are closed. Our third washroom became pantry cum laundry room.

Love it! Looks very comfortable and livable. And as for renos- yep that’s how real life non-HGTV renos go. Three year later and we still have to paint all the new baseboards/trim.

it's very nice! but in my country a bathroom that opens directly in the living area would be considered unsanitary, and the house would not be considered legally liveable. the best part though was seeing the snow and the pretty outdoor from your windows, it looks so gorgeous there

Great house. I don't think I would ever get a bigger house. The only thing I would want is one more toilet with all the kids and some kind of tub or even hot tub.
