    Tom, I heard you mention in your live stream today that someone said they had recently watched this video you said, oh maybe I should watch it so I know how we do Laundry. I have not watched your channel that long, I found you through the wonderful Jamerrill Stewart. I hadn’t seen all these organization and reviews of the house videos, it struck me that what Andrea has done is left you with a complete “playbook” with great detail in these videos. Many of us think of the Dads as the “coach” , but in these videos I see Andrea as the coach of the family and she’s created an audio playbook, like a football coach creates for their team. I can’t even imagine how heartsick you and the children’s are. I am a Christian and I know that as Christians we definitely can and do find comfort in knowing that Andrea is in a better place, and is with your baby Cyrus. This doesn’t mean that there won’t still be waves of grief, sometimes more like a tsunami. Anyway, I don’t know if I’m explaining myself very well but it just hit me as I’ve binge watched all the organizational videos and all the room tours in the last 2 days and it just came to me , Andrea created created a “playbook” a “how to” for the Mills family. Most families are not as blessed, loved ones leave in so many unexpected manners, sudden illness, accidents etc, usually the family is left wondering, how did Mum, or Dad, do this, or that. Where did they put this, etc. Andrea being the extremely detailed oriented and extremely organized woman that she was has carefully and thoughtfully documented this all for you. I have nothing to offer except my deepest condolences and our prayers for you and your beautiful children to just be surrounded with Our Lords infinite grace and the wings of those giant angels wrapped around each and every one of you in the coming days and weeks to help you get through the toughest days, and help bring you out the other side of this incredibly sad time, and hopefully one day you will be able to look at these videos and know that your amazing wife, the coach, has left you all well prepared to be able to continue on in her absence. Blessings to you all. The Schlachter family. Ontario Canada 🙏🏻❤️

      makeuplover 68 you worded this very beautifully. I have been rewatching her videos also and I think how marvelous for this beautiful family that their wife and mother left them such treasures. Through these videos the family will be able to continue on with order and the littles ones can get to know their mom.

      @@melindabanning7707 , thank you for your kind words. I'm not really a football fan actually the only reason I know what a "playbook" is in foot ball is. Because of the movie "playbook" ..as I watched one video after the other detailing every single thing that she does, how she did it, why she did it, where it lived in the home, it truly hit me " she's written a complete and living playbook for her husband and children"...and then something else hit me...I have a son with special needs, he is 8 years old. I am retired so that I can be home with him 24/7 and my husband is still working, I have really taken care of all his needs almost in isolation as his dad works shift work, and while he loves our son he just isn't around much to learn what to do for him, or how, from everything from how he likes his cereal to every piece of clothing must have all the tags cut out or he will just cry and scream and run away ( he's on the autism spectrum). He is fully verbal and when he's not in distress he can communicate his wants and needs quite well, but when something is bothering him, he can't get the words out and then he just cries or screams...Andreas passing has touched my life so deeply for a woman I didn't know, and hadn't even watched her videos until just a few days before she passed. I have begun to chart everything I do for my son, from his supplement protocol to how he likes his food, which foods are ok, which foods are not, bed time routine, morning routine, the song we sing while brushing teeth, the song we sing in the shower so he can shower pretty much by himself, and get all the steps done. Andrea taught me that it's my responsibility as his Mummy is to be sure that if something ever happened to me his Dad, and others would know all the little things that help calm him. Loosing me would be devastating for him as he and I are attached at the hip, I don't go anywhere without him, ever. But, life is unpredictable, and while I'm a Christian and I hope and pray every single day that God will not allow for me to be taken from a boy who needs me, Andreas death has shown me that it is irresponsible of me to not be prepared, and so, for the past 2 months that's what I've been doing. Creating a playbook for my family. I pray that never need it, but if they do, it will be there, thanks to Andrea Mills.

    If you leave damp clothes in your washing machine overnight, after they have been washed your washing machine will eventually have a mouldy smell in the drum. You should empty your washing machine as soon as it's finished a wash cycle and don't fully close the washing machine door that way your washing machine gets to air out and won't have a mouldy smell coming from the drum. Anyway it's good to see your kids helping you out. Well done?

      I'm guessing Wyoming has a climate similar to ours here in northern Colorado. We don't have to worry as much about mildew because it's pretty dry. (We still worry about it, just not overnight.) Dionne Francis-Brown, is it perhaps more humid where you are? Also, when the washer gets used nearly every day, it doesn't have as much time for the bacteria and gunk that make it smell bad to grow.

    I'm young and never want children and I can't have them anyway but I'm aware of and around families semi often and the trend seems to be to 'shut them up' with a gadget or candy and never interact or teach life lessons! ,Anne it's just the area I live in but still sad to see, so when I see kids like yours it makes me happy to know someone is doing it right ☺️

    I'm so glad I saw this on my recommended list. I actually had this same exact idea of doing laundry (using individual baskets for each of us sorting,organizing after pulling out from drier and putting each basket in each room.
    .) BUT I had not purchased anything yet such as baskets etc.. because I wanted to find the right sizes and think of a system I liked. I hadn't put much thought into it after coming up with the idea. Well now that I see her video here I am going to look for these same baskets to buy for our family.

  • @nktigger99

    I don't sort our laundry....the game changer for us was buying commercial size washers and dryers...it washes and drys three "normal" size loads....it has been awesome....so now I do one load every three days and never have laundry back up....plus gives me plenty time to wash bedding.

    I grew up with 2 brothers and our mom used baskets, too. Bathroom and each bedroom had a dirty laundry basket and she'd take the one in their room, go around to each of our rooms and empty our baskets into theirs and then take it all in the bathroom (where our washer and dryer were). After we went to sleep (I know this, because when I grew older I could stay up later than my brothers and noticed this) she'd sort and go through the laundry (emptying pockets and so on), then put either darks or whites on the washer, leaving the other in the bathroom dirty laundry basket. Then she'd go to bed. In the morning, usually before we're up, she'd move the laundry from the washer to the dryer, and then when the dryer is done and she has the time (if she had a day off work, it'd be around noon, if she didn't, then it'd happen in the evening after we're asleep) she'd take all our laundry baskets, fold all the clothes in them, and then either call our names to come and get the full baskets of clean clothes or take it to our rooms if we weren't home (like when she had a day off but we were at school). Then we emptied our clean clothes to our closets (sometimes she had to tell us to do so, if she was about to wash more laundry few days later and we hadn't emptied our baskets yet... happened a lot to me when I was in high school and we had a test week...) and take the baskets back to the bathroom.
    I started paying attention to this when I was in my late teens and about to move away from home. I live alone. I have a dirty clothes basket (on wheels) in the bedroom. On Fridays, I put all used-but-not-dirty clothes I have laying around, to the dirty clothes basket and change linens and towels to clean ones and put dirty ones in the basket (small towels in the bathroom and kitchen and pillow cases every week, sheets and bath towels every other week). On Saturdays I take it to the laundry room I share with my neighbors (I book my laundry shift on Tuesdays, when I usually know what time the next Saturday I have time to do the laundry... lucky for me, others don't seem to prefer Saturdays). I sort the laundry (dark colors and light colors), go through pockets again (I do that before throwing anything to the basket but I re-do it just in case), close zippers and buttons, turn all printed shirts and all jeans upside down and all socks the right side out, that sort of thing. Takes about 10-15min, since I've been doing this almost six years, since I moved away from home. After the washer is done, I take my clean laundry basket and take the first load off the washer (usually darks because I have more of those) and then wash another load unless it's very small (sometimes it's just like two small towels and a couple or underpants and socks). If it is very small amount, I just wash it with the next weeks' laundry. I don't use a dryer (unless I'm visiting my mom, where I do all my laundry myself and usually hers, too, to help out in exchange of being an adult and still, like, she doing all the cooking and so on for me, when I visit). I've just never gotten used to using a dryer. I hang my clothes on a drying rack in the room in the apartment that has the most empty space so it's not in the way, in this apartment it's the bathroom. I organize them while I hang them, putting all "bottoms" together, all "tops" together, pairing socks next to each other, and all linen in one part of the rack. I hang sheets on top of doors around the apartment, because they'd take up so much space on the rack. On Sunday or Monday I take the sheets down and put them in the clean clothes basket (not folded). On Monday I take all the drying laundry and put it in the clean clothes basket. Then I take that into the living room, dump it all on one of my two armchairs, sit in the armchair next to that one and put the empty basket on my other side on the floor. Then I usually put on music or tv or RUclips videos on my laptop and start folding my laundry. Then, after I'm done, I put the laundry away to my linen drawers and my closet.

It was just plain foam poster board, not pretty like the one in our drawer. I did our utensil drawer in the kitchen, too. Everything fits so nice and tidy. I didn't mention it, but when we want to wash the towels, we just throw them in the dirty clothes basket in the bathroom and they join the cycle. For sheets, I sneak in an extra load during the day. In the morning, I'll take the clean clothes out of the dryer, put the wet clothes in and start the washer with a load of sheets. When we do chores later, I fold the clean clothes I took out of the dryer earlier and the sheets get put into the dryer. At bedtime the sheets are dry and we remake any beds that had the sheets washed.

    • @noramcnabb1361
      @noramcnabb1361 4 года назад

      Another way you could do it is to pick one day to change all the towels and bath mats and only do those.
      Jordan Page talks about her system on her channel and she says on Monday she makes sure she has all the laundry:sheets, towels, kitchen cloths, blankets and the clothes. She then washes the bedding first because those need to be put back on the beds, her white towels that she bleaches, and then bath mats and rags. She then sorts by thickness level, with the exception of the whites unless it’s a towel.

    Do you iron? I'm a nut about wrinkles. I finally quit ironing. If my clothes are left in the dryer overnight they wrinkle. I'll spray them with water and hang them and the majority of wrinkles are gone the next day. You've trained them well. Be proud😊

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  7 лет назад +2

      I iron sometimes, but I try to avoid clothes that wrinkle easily. It's about 2 weeks between wearings so any shirt that may have been a little wrinkled has "hung them out" by then. Sometimes the girls' dresses need some ironing around the hems, but I don't do that every time, just when they really need it.

      I gave up on ironing most things. We do a load of “re-drys” where we take a full basket of shirts and put them back inside the dryer for about 10-15 minutes. Then we shake them out and hang them up. All the wrinkles are gone. Only business shirts need an iron for the most part. I used to spend hours every Sunday afternoon getting all our shirts ironed and one day a co-worker told me about this little trick. Saved so much time.

    I use a powder bleach and a laundry liquid in my washing machine. it helps lift stains.
    Nappy San is a brand of bleach powder in Australia. It's color safe.

    I love the little black skirt the girl was wearing near the end. How is the weather where you live? I am in Texas and we usually know when rain is coming (not often enough LOL) so I take advantage of the sun and we hang most clothes on the line outdoors, saves on electricity.

      I have thought about putting up a clothes line, but we never have. It would be nice! We're in Wyoming and it's pretty dry here, too.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, we do. What you see in the video is all that is done each day. Everything sits where it was left until the next day. Day 1, the load goes in the wash. Day 2 it goes into the dryer. Day 3 it gets folded and put away.

    so how many kids do you have? And what are their names? How did you come up with their names each time? I've been watching your videos videos I really love them. Thank you so much. I know it has to be a blessing to be a mama to so many children I know you never have a dull moment times are always fun but maybe a hassle.

      We have 8 children. Thomas (14), Asher (12), Judah (11), Justus (8), Eden (6), Solomon (4), Sophia (2) and Claudia (1). Thomas was named after Tom, though they don't have the same middle name. The rest of our children have Bible names. We have a book that lists every person in the Bible and where they are found in Scripture. I got it for a dollar at a used book sale. We call it the Mills Baby Name Book. :) Sophia is the only one whose name isn't obviously from the Bible. When Tom first began learning Greek he discovered the Greek word for wisdom is Sophia. He said if we were having a girl (I was pregnant) that he'd like to name her Sophia. Obviously we were!

    How do you keep the socks sorted by child and also I didn't see you washing towels. How do you deal with towels? I know your family must use a bunch each day. Also do you all bathe every day etc or take turns every other day. When I was a kid bathing was only done once a week- but you sponged off every day. I know things have changed thank God.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  7 лет назад +1

      Bathing everyday is actually not very good for skin. We schedule one bath/shower per week for each child, but they really hop in whenever they feel like having one or need one. We throw towels and washcloths in with the light laundry as needed.

    What kind of laundry detergent is that? I like the pump.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  8 лет назад

      It's Biokleen. I got it here: www.azurestandard.com/#/shop/product//laundry-liquid-free-&-clear/16882 The pump was a separate purchase, but the lid on the five gallon bucket is made to have a pump put into it. I think the pump was just a couple of dollars.

    I always thought about using a system close to this but I was always afraid my clothes wouldn't be as fresh left in the washer over night . Do you guys ever have any issues w that ?

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  8 лет назад +1

      Overnight has been fine. Sometimes someone will forget to start the dryer so we can't change loads the next day. Clothes left for two nights do seem a little musty. On the rare occasion that happens, I just have the kids run the washer with fresh soap again and start the dryer to continue the cycle for the next day.

    We kind of do the same. I'm the 2nd oldest in a family of 7 and I make it 8 we have a kind of big house and go by color. My color is Light purple because my walls is light purple. my older sisters is Orange and my oldest brother is Blue and so on. We have a huge laundry room. My job is laundry I do everyday because we have a list of things and I happen to be laundry everyday. so I go in my siblings room. it's the 2 youngest in a Red room but there boys with diffrent colors it's the 2 youngest sisters and Then it's my room purple and then my older sister then my younger sister a year behind me. I take the laundry baskets that were white but we had a painting contest and painted them. I take them to the laundry room and put them in washers. we have 5 washers and 5 dryers because it goes younger boys older boys older sisters younger sister and parents. it cost alot of money to have them and provide things for them but we all pitch in buying stuff for it and it works pretty good.

    Do you iron anything? X

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  7 лет назад +3

      Sometimes, but I try to avoid clothes that wrinkle easily. It's about 2 weeks between wearings so any shirt that may have been a little wrinkled has "hung them out" by then. Sometimes the girls' dresses need some ironing around the hems, but I don't do that every time, just when they really need it.
