    I am left wondering if I should (& even how I should) advise those not so lucky buggers that they would NOT be released on your next fishing day. Very helpful hint on finding Pippies (waders are not essential attire) & grouping them as an energy & time-saving exercise. I have never thought to open Pippies by banging them together. Waders to keep you dry & for protection from blue bottles? Another great video & a treasure trove of information. Looking forward to the next video.

    G'day, Wayne. As always, really good content. Hey, those Alveys aren't cheap nowadays hey? I remember looking at one about 10 years back and they were expensive. I wish I'd hung on to my father's reels. He had some nice old Alveys and a big offshore one. He was a mad keen fisherman. Fly, surf, lagoons etc. If it had water and fish, he'd be fishing. Not sure if mentioned it before, but many years ago when I was about 12 or 13, he took me down to Shorncliffe one night to meet an old lady who fished for gar with homemade bamboo poles off the wall along the esplanade. She'd berley (burley?) up to get the gar in and use tiny hooks with a bit of dough and a float on the line. There was no reel, just 30 odd foot of line attached to the pole. When the float dipped you'd jag back and flip them to shore like the old Tuna fisherman used to do. She taught me how to use the rods and I ended up catching a few that night.

      Brad Griffin thanks Brad. Love the alveys. But they have almost doubled in price over the last year.

      @@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing Wow! That's crazy! They're manufactured Here though, so I can kind of understand why. Once I have time to fish more I think I'll invest in one. They're very hard to kill as opposed to your usual egg-beater.

      Brad Griffin yep that’s true at the moment. Things are changing dramatically though. Alvey are about to release a spin reel made OS.

    Hi mate, good video’s. What is the red plastic on the line for? I guess it improves the strike rate? Thanks

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  4 года назад

      Scott Morris yes it works to attract as well as a spacer for a second hook.

    Hey there,
    I was just wondering if you needed a permit in order to drive on the sand. I want to go fishing there too, but obviously I don't want to break any rules, Haha.
    Also, where did you exactly go? Sorry about all the questions.
    Cheers

      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  5 лет назад +2

      Jaeho Lee yes you do need a permit. And I fished at several gutters between Freshwater and Double Island.

    What does the red plastic do?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  3 года назад

      Many fishos use it with the belief that it assists with attracting the whiting.

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  3 года назад

      If you’re referring to the pipi mounds, I think it’s from the movement of the pipi’s as they filter.

    Mate.How do you tell what kind of fish is on before you wind it in to see?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  4 года назад

      Roberto Roberto it’s never absolutely correct but all fish fight differently. A dart will use its body shape to assist in its fight. A whiting is long and thin and will feel completely different to the dart. After catching a few of each you will be able to feel the difference
