Too many people are bystanders. It is up to the entrepreneurs to change the world.

I like this video; it makes great points. KUDOS! I would like to mention, however, that even though the entrepreneur mom-and-pop businesses are the backbones of our economy, it's the CONSUMER that keeps the process going. Sure, businesses will need profits in order to function, and mostly people want to embark on enterprise because of the potential wealth, but if a business doesn't have the customers, you'll start seeing businesses falling just as quickly as they rise. The primary attribute that encourages businesses to hire is the demand that comes from consumers; in fact, businesses much of the time only hire people as a means of last resort because hiring even ONE extra person is going to take a sizable chunk out the businesses' budgets, especially if you're just gettin' started.
You could also make a statement that government is a job creator as well, at least to a certain magnitude. It's not the PRIMARY job creator, nor am I advocating that it should be. However, when the economy is starting to take a dive, precipitating a recession, you'll start witnessing consumers being more apprehensive about spending, which consequently results in businesses needing to lay people off due to lower budgets/sales, and eventually this might result in the business closing its doors permanently altogether. This process perpetuates until we potentially have a fill-blown depression. To curtail this, the government will need to inject a substantial amount of money in the system to create stimulus. Granted, this has to be stimulus on programs/projects that not only generate jobs in the present time but also accelerate economic growth in the future. A good example of responsible stimulus is the Eisenhower Interstate, which not only got us out of another possible recession in the 50's, but it also greatly enhanced the flow of commerce for generations to come; a bad example would be the useless infrastructure, like unfrequented bridges and roads, that Japan built in the 1990's "lost decade." All in all, responsible stimulus is required.
Anyway, I hope I didn't digress too much, LOL. I reiterate, I like this video, and I respect anyone with the inventiveness, passion, what-have-you, in getting a business up and taking that leap. I guess the point of my post is just make sure that credit is given to all parties involved, NOT JUST ENTREPRENEURS. It's a mutual symbiotic relationship where the entrepreneur is the skeletal mainframe foundation, the consumer is the flowing hemoglobin that keeps the process going, and the government is the fat reserve in case of emergency...

Well nice break up but what really created the jobs?! The demand did! Without the growing demand there would not be a need for more jobs!

my wife is originally from Iraq(she's Assyrian) and has many friends that came here for that freedom and do so well in business!! But us who have been born here w that freedom sometimes don't take hold of it and enslave ourselves. It's crazy how it's reversed. In the land of plenty sometimes we are raised w a 3rd world mentality. Unfortunate but true
