I really love your videos. I've seen many different channels, but you are the only one that I actually watch and cheer like if it was a real PGA tournament round. I get disappointed when you miss, I get happy with good shots. I watch your channel on my TV and even my wife sometimes shouts "yessss!" when we see a proper up and down. And you know, she hates golf! ;-)
2 foot misses, 30 footer drops, and the 'double-disasters' of landing in a bunker with a misplaced rake. Oh the agonies and joys of amateur golf. Lovely looking course and scenary again. Thanks for posting.
Exceptional putt on 13. Can I just say, while your progress has been amazing as has your putting (with the exception of the lip out - we've all had those), the thing I've noticed is how many times you've left it short on your approach. Be brave and club up. It may also be because the distance you're expecting from your clubs aren't what you're actually hitting. Practice at the driving range with your hybrid and irons and get a more accurate estimation. You'll save so many shots because your putting is very good 👍
If you’re ever asked to explain golf to someone, reference the missed 2 foot putt followed by a 40 footer make for par followed by the best drive of the day followed by a chunked chip shot into the bunker. THAT is golf!
Great comment, that is why we love golf! I don't think I've ever had a round with so many ups and downs before. On the back 9 I was glad to keep the ball in play as the rough is brutal on some of the holes. The card was just missing a birdie but you can't have it all. There's always a next time for that... :-) Thanks for watching
Well played James. It's very rare for all aspects of your game come together in one round. Credit to you for pulling your game back together after a badly played hole !!
I've been working my way through all yout videos and have just got to this point, I cannot believe how good you have gotten so quickly! I am just beginnin my journey and im playing off about 27 at the moment, I can only hope to improve as much as you have.
Well done recovering after that opening shot James. You could've easily just walked to the camera and done a retake 👍👍👍 Some good stuff there, in an amongst a couple of bad holes... congratulations on your best run (to date) of holes on the channel
Just a quick note to say that I really enjoy your vlogs. The honest and simple approach to the game is really refreshing. As a golfer of 50+ years whose had a fair bit of success, I love watching your journey into the game and am keen to see you progress. Your putting and elements of your short game show a lot of promise, but it’s your attitude and obvious love for the game which are the most appealing. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next episode 👏
Cheers, I try to enjoy the rounds first and then worry about the scorecard later (doesn't always happen!). I'm looking forward to getting more lessons this spring and improving the tee to green game further. Thanks for watching
That's Golf James! Those good shots and holes keep us coming back week after week! Conditions weren't good but you can still see your improvements each time you play. Looking forward to the next video!
That 4 putt from 12 foot came from nowhere. The name of the 10th hole is 'The Ruins' and it definitely ruined the scorecard this day! haha :-) Thanks for watching Dan
Lovely views and a nice looking course. Well Done James par par 30 foot drops, the golf Gods where having a tug of war with you that day. Thanks for the Video
I’m new to the channel, find it really interesting. Just shows how keeping it out of trouble and a good short game are much more important than belting it miles when it comes to shooting respectable scores. I never know whether I’m going to shoot high eighties or over 100, my consistency is that bad.
Great job James. Sign of a good golfer....consistency with those par runs...even more impressive considering the inevitable blow up hole we all have. I like to use the back green yardage to account for my probability of being a bit heavy on shots.
That's great advice Jimmy. My approach game was not good on many of the shots in this round. Always lots to work on with golf that's why we love it! :-)
Another one smashed out of the park. Your figures both subscriber and views plus the engagement on the comments just goes to show how well your content is received. It must fill you with immense pride buddy. Game wise your putting is definitely on point James, looked a nice day and another lovely course.
Cheers, yes I'm happy with how the videos are going right now. The first ones I posted received almost no views and it wasn't until video 17 that things picked up. Thanks for watching and good luck with your channel!
Really enjoy your videos James, you are really good with full wedges, some excellent shots. Something that saved me a lot of shots, when their is nothing to come over (bunker etc) try pitch and run instead of chipping. I thinned a lot of sand wedges like you do. Now I play 7 8 or 9 back in the stance and rock the shoulders, putting style, land it in the fringe or just on, a lot less duffed chips 👍
Really love this. Real golf, for 18 holes! It gives a genuine insight and something to actually compare with. I play off 11-12 but think that 14ish would be more accurate!
Great putting. Goes to show how important it is to maintain a lower score. Heavy contacts or shorter drives are fine if you can putt! Really enjoy the vids.
As always, a great watch. Way to stick with it! Goodness knows I have started a round the same way and let it get to me - which then ruins the entire round.
Amazing progress James. Has been a joy to watch you progress. Bar your 22 degree you tend to hit your longer clubs a little fat. Some have suggested clubbing up but perhaps concentrate on the front of the ball or just before it for a cleaner strike 👍
Well done! I'd have been livid at times there but you kept your head better than I would! Nice course, am visiting North Wales in May. Clubs will be in boot 👌🏼. Thanks for the Friday upload. Always a pleasure.
Love the channel mate, I play the same courses all around North Wales, Abergele, rhuddlan, rhos-on-sea, prestatyn and my personal favourite Holywell. Keep posting we all enjoy watching
Wow, James! Not a bad round altogether. Let’s not talk score here (I don’t want to address your snowmen): some things are looking good. Most of your pitching/chipping is better (!) and you had a pretty good feel with your putter! That kept you in the round… as it should. I’d like to see if you would consider two things: 1) developing a draw shot on command (I know, I know… I’m a broken record); and a “flip wedge” shot… very wrist-y, clipped closely and compressed. I think a flip wedge will enhance your pitch options around the green (30 yrds, for instance). I’d call this a GOOD round, snowmen notwithstanding. Good work, buddy! Beautiful surroundings, too!
Eventful / mixed round. Great putting on the front 9. Think most of us would have dismissed that first tee shot and considered the 2nd ball to be the start of the round. Love those par 3's from a elevated position. Thanks for showing.
After getting my lessons and improving my rounds are much more interesting. I'm capable of a birdie on every hole bar the long par 4s. I'm also capable of carding snowmen! haha :-) I always enjoy my rounds at NWGC. Thanks for watching robert
Enjoy watching your videos as they represent "honest amateur golf". Cannot help but think if you could generate 20 to 30 more yards off the tee you would have your handicap fall further as your short game and putting are pretty consistent, keep at it and it's great to see you improve👍👍
9:18 time in the video is the best to pause it. James, you have the thumb ready for a thumbs up but when it lips out you coolly wave it through your hair. I was laughing WITH you. Golf is a funny old game, 30 footers in and 2 footers missed/ Great stuff James, love your content!
I did exact same opening tee shot when I played North Wales 🤣🤣 you're not alone. Love your channel, I love North Wales having spent my uni years in Bangor many moons ago. Me and Mrs go each year mainly to Holyhead area but stop off along the coast for days out. I'm getting good feed back on the courses you play because we want to retire here, and I'm joining a good course. Keep it up it's brilliant
Yeah, I'm in good company then I'm sure many more people have done the same. it's definitely a tougher opening shot than it looks on camera with the OB left and people playing down the right. I've played Holyhead a couple of times and will play and film it this spring when the course dries out. North Wales is a great place to retire and the courses are mostly quiet out of the summer golf season. Thanks for watching Nick :-)
Love it...good or bad. Keep loading on that right leg and you'll keep getting speed, power, distance. That's the difference in ur swing. The distance is there...just gotta load, swing, transfer.
Yeah, on another day this score could have been really low. The last hole was a total giveaway I should have been 10-15 ft away for birdie instead of scrambling around the green. Lots to work on! :-) Thanks for watching
I like the way the shot tracer shows a lovely high arc where the imaginary ball is headed, meanwhile the real ball is bobbling along the ground somewhere else. I use the same app, it does that for me as well. Nice round James.
Way to grind! Your short game (save for your blowup hole) is on point! I forgot to mention this before, but I actually do the PR for Inesis -- let me know if you ever need clubs, balls, apparel, etc.!
The sound of an opening drive hitting a metal stanchion, or a tree, or a bush, or a house is too familiar and is such a deflating moment to start off with, but you recovered nicely. Cheers to short memories!
First putt of the day: Boom, right in the middle. Second put of the day: Boom, right in the middle :) Glorious view off the 5th tee. Looked a bit blowy James, so tough scoring conditions - short game pretty decent again, particularly the lag putting (let's not talk about 10...)
It looks like you're playing in an almost swamp with those wet conditions! Keep playing like this and you'll be a single digit once conditions are better. Beautiful putt on 2 and great drive on 3. You're also getting really good at chipping. it's also a fantastic view all around. Really enjoyed this week's video!
Cheers Mark, I was really pleased with the pars on the back 9. I think if I made a birdie or par on the last hole it would have gone to my head so in a weird way I'm glad it was a bogey! Thanks for watching
You had a lot of tough breaks and bad shots at bad times in this round, James, but let me tell you, that was a hard earned 89. That putt to save par at 14:42 was INSANE! Many pars after the blow up holes when you needed them most. Keep it up and I see a SUB-80 in your future not too far off. 💪⚔️
Cheers Ben, it was a tough grind this day that was for sure! A lot of work on my swing is needed just to break 85, let alone 80 haha :-) I was really happy to sink that long lag putt as it's by far the longest holed on this channel. Thanks for watching
I wasn't smiling after that first shot. The funny thing was there were lots of people on the putting green nearby. They must have seen the whole debacle! haha :-)
Been watching your game. Not sure how old you are but you shoot’s pretty good game. I am 67 and have been playing since I was 12. Most of my life I shot in the 90’s . Rare for me to shoot in the 80’s. These last few years its gone up quite a bit to 110 to125. I’m exhausted by the end. Play by myself most of the time. Had to let a 3 some thru because they claimed I was holding them up. It’s getting ugly out there on the course. Not that much fun anymore.
Cheers Sammy, I usually play later in the days when the courses are quieter. If people are close behind I give them a shout just in case they want to play through. Some people are in a rush and others are ok to play a little slower. Thanks for watching and good luck for your rounds in 2022! :-)
Golf is played over 18 holes and its all about grinding it out. I did notice on a couple of your shots your shoulder alignments was a little left, very noticeable on the 1st. Been working with @Kent Nicholson - GOLF with this recently.
Yeah, good spot. My natural alignment defaults to an open stance. It's one of the first things my coach noticed and I have to work on this more. Thanks for watching
I'd be tempted to have called 'Breakfast Ball' on that first one. James, if you ever find yourself in East Sussex, the green fee at my club is on me. I'd love to see your take on it and a video posted.
Great round James, a great score considering there was two 8s on the card. Fair play for leaving the first shot in, would have been very easy to edit it out and say nothing!
Cheers mate. I wouldn't have felt good saying I broke 90 on this day when I didn't. Hopefully I can break 85 when I play this course next after a few more much needed lessons! Thanks for watching
I really love your videos. I've seen many different channels, but you are the only one that I actually watch and cheer like if it was a real PGA tournament round. You're right, clubbing up is a good idea. My approach play was not good on this day and is something I'll be working on. Thanks for watching
Aye first thing I noticed on first hole - your 3 wood or whatever it is went 170 yards, then you took a 22 degree hybrid for a 171 yard approach
I like the fact you have a little chuckle when you miss a putt. Keep going James love the vids
Love your commitment to honest play. Even when you face unlucky rubs during a round you maintain your integrity and composure. Very commendable.
If you’re ever asked to explain golf to someone, reference the missed 2 foot putt followed by a 40 footer make for par followed by the best drive of the day followed by a chunked chip shot into the bunker.

Cheers Kent, I thought the score had gone to pieces so I relaxed more and the pars started coming. Always the way! :-) Thanks for watching
One of the most honest channels on youtube. Tx for posting
Great putting and very consistent strikes leading up to the green
Very enjoyable after discovering the channel this morning. Going to head back to the first ones and make my way through the back catalogue.
Great score considering the 2 snowman!! Cheers James!!! Great views of the course!!

such a humble and honest channel; I love it. Please keep posting videos!
Awesome as always James! Some amazing views too, would love to play some courses in Wales at some point 👍
Love the views. Great scenery around the course. I know the feeling of those high score holes jumping up when you least expect them.

Thanks for sharing! A great round even with a 4 putt! Keep it going!
Keep up the golf journey, James! Watching your videos has made me realize I really want to visit Wales. With clubs, of course :)
Please do. Anglesey and North Wales in general are beautiful
Great job James. Sign of a good golfer....consistency with those par runs...even more impressive considering the inevitable blow up hole we all have. I like to use the back green yardage to account for my probability of being a bit heavy on shots.

Certainly enjoying the videos! Keep up the great work!

@@notaperfectgolfer3489 good luck, it is a lot easier to master than the SW shot which you play a lot better than I do.👍
Hi from Canada James! Love your scenic Wales courses and your channel.
Great putt on the 13th James! You ploughed on even after the tough start and recorded a very respectable score. Fair play 👏 👏
Great putting those first few holes!

Great putting. Goes to show how important it is to maintain a lower score. Heavy contacts or shorter drives are fine if you can putt! Really enjoy the vids.

course looks great!! swing looking good to!
Nice video - I'm stuck at home with a fractured ankle for a few weeks so your videos keep my golf brain ticking over.. You're such a good putter!
Wishing you a speedy recovery and good luck with your rounds for 2022!

Awesome video! The course looks awesome, especially for February. Loved the pitch shot and the putt on hole 5.
Cheers Scott, that pitch was from well below the green so I was happy to be 6 ft away! Thanks for watching
Great video, really enjoyed that one.
As someone who got a quadruple bogey yesterday my heart goes out to you!
Enjoy watching your videos as they represent "honest amateur golf". Cannot help but think if you could generate 20 to 30 more yards off the tee you would have your handicap fall further as your short game and putting are pretty consistent, keep at it and it's great to see you improve👍👍

Helluva round given the cold and wind.
Such fantastic scenery. I need to play in wales soon.
looks unreal
Great play down the stretch!

@@notaperfectgolfer3489 it’s great watching your progress, It looks like just your shoulder and forearms are open, Keep up the great work.
tough putting day, usually you putt better, still a better score than I've ever had. I still am happy when I break 100.
great video
I'd be tempted to have called 'Breakfast Ball' on that first one. James, if you ever find yourself in East Sussex, the green fee at my club is on me. I'd love to see your take on it and a video posted.
Cheers Nick, maybe I should have but it could have angered the golf gods more! :-)
The lip out on 9 was brutal!
The best one ever on this channel. Nearly came right back at me! Thanks for watching :-)
Another great vid James, pity about the 4 bad holes though!! Otherwise, playing some good golf mate. Love to watch.⛳⛳👍👍
Cheers Mark, thanks for watching
