5 hours James . . . SHEESH, then all the up-loading and editing etc ! I'm sure that all your followers and fans fully appreciate the huge effort you put into all your clips. Cheers mate !
Hi James, great to have you playing up at St Deiniol. It truly is a great test of golf and a very unforgiving golf course. I'm also the Head Greenskeeper, so if you are ever visiting again perhaps we could arrange a match play match (with a curtesy buggy)
Cheers Chris, the course was in great nick on this day and playing really tough like always! Thanks for the offer of a buggy, I definitely needed one on my previous 2 visits. I'll let you know next time I'm round your way about a match. Thanks for watching and keep up the good work! :-)
That’s a nice video of a beautiful little course with a lot of character. You certainly played that very well, keeping your composure and attitude very well, far better than I could have. Even though I have played for almost 60 years you showed me that keeping your composure is the most important aspect of golf and not hitting the perfect drive nor wedge. Thanks
I've been watching a lot of golf content on RUclips (probably too much at times) and there's still something incredibly refreshing from watching these videos you make which shows the game as it's played. I think I stumped upon your channel a year or so ago and it has inspired me to get my own channel going which will probably mostly contain "Every shot" vids and some course vlogs (I call them Glogs). I'm a golfer somehow frozen in the 18 hcp bracket. Really don't have time to practice, so all my golf is done playing rounds. I loved learning more about the landscape and terrain of Wales through your videos. Mine will feature Aotearoa New Zealand and Germany heavily. Alright, that's it. Just saying hi and keep up the good work.
My home course from 1974 to 1999 honoured to have been junior club champion twice and club champion seven times. To appreciate and work out the course need to play 3 or 4 times loved watching the video brought a tear to my eye.
Love it, not many RUclips golfers are brave enough to play and show St Deiniol, Its my home course (slightly biased) its a proper test of golf. Its deffo a course to play a few times to get the best out it.
Cheers Paul, I was pleased with the round overall. This course is tighter than it looks and it's a potential lost ball on so many shots. Thanks for watching :-)
Gorgeous part of the world. Went to Anglesey back in April. Those hills look the lovely but walking them looks like a proper chore! Well played on a testy one. Cheers!
Cheers Randy, I should have talked about this in the vid. They have small flags because normal sized flags and holes get damaged due to the excessive wind. Thanks for watching :-)
Here's a few tips from a player. On your putting... cross handed is fine but I would lower the grip to about the middle of your grip. Your very upright and that makes your putter loose and floppy! I used it my whole life until about a week ago when I switched to a regular gripped claw style. On your drive watch that left knee. Your bending it alot and that will make weight transfer tuff. Finally...calm your body in your backswing. Try being more still and that will help with your irons and you'll make solid contact more often. Good luck brother. 80 is in your future.
Really enjoyed watching this video James. A really challenging course. Some great putting from distance on some tricky looking greens. Well played sir! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Very Well played James.Putting was really good today, but what a golf course, so many blind teeshots/secondshots but you played well all the same. You must be really fit now after all the hill climbing. Thanks for the Video
Impressed with your accuracy James and nearly 300 yards without looking strained, what would you say your club head speed is? Your backswing is quite short but you really get through it 👍🏼
Pure dead brilliant James i would not go near this golf course far to difficult for me i would have lost at the very least 6 golf balls so 10 out of 10 for playing it 😂
Very challenging.. but maybe a little to much defensive play. But great play on the up hill holes. Last hole I was holding my head. No idea what you did on that pitch. Great views. Well done again 👍🏻👍🏻⛳️
A nice round on a challenging but interesting course, some lovely views. Those blind shots are tough, lost many a ball on leaf covered fairways even after a good shot.
Excellent James - particularly that tremendous drive and putt for birdie. Also nice shout-out for GolfNow which I've used a lot for years and takes you to new and interesting (and affordable) course. I've just joined my local club, but will miss the variety.
That course is tough! You had some great shots but wow it would be easy to get in trouble on some of those fairways. Very enjoyable, thanks for posting.
It's a lot harder than it looks. So much danger on nearly every hole where even a slightly errant shot will be punished by a lost ball. Thanks for watching :-)
Beautiful scenery James and a good score. Let me know if you ever fancy another go around Hawarden, or one of the portal courses and I’ll sponsor it for you. Pennant Park would also be interesting to see you go around. Might want a buggy for that one too!
Cheers Chris, I knew what I was in for and had to pace myself for the round. It's the type of course some people will love and others will detest. Definitely not an average day on the fairways! haha :-)
James, what a tough course to walk. I know they can be expensive but I finally saved and invested in an electric push cart, Made by Cart Tek. It sure makes a difference! I now have my wife, who started playing a year ago, watching your videos!
Cheers John, those Footjoy shoes are one of my best ever golf purchases. Along with the meniro wool hiking socks I've never had one blister which is amazing! Thanks for watching :-)
+16 on such a difficult course...i'd buy it, James ! What a putt for birdie on hole 8, you'll remember that one, right? I hope you enjoyed an excellent and well deserved beer on hole 19 😀 cheers James
Thought you stayed in the "moment" very well considering your start and the windy conditions, and, it's good to challenge yourself occasionally !! well played.
It is really unnerving but a great challenge. The views are amazing and if this place was in Scotland or the South of England it would probably be £75+ a round. Thanks for watching :-)
Looks as if it took 5 or 6 holes to get into your game. But then your approaches and shot game really kicked into action. Good, solid round on a very challenging, yet beautiful course...Well done. Courses are alot greener and wind is far more blustery than 4 or 5 weeks ago...making your score all more impressive. 🍻
First tee shot at our local practice course is at walk down to bottom of a very steep slope . Everyone takes a second shot from top , we'll I do anyway .
2nd best I think. I hit a 298 yard drive the first shot in this round: ruclips.net/video/fuHXXNQ8PiI/видео.html (both were massively downhill..!!!). Thanks for watching :-)
Really good watch. You're becoming more confident in front of the camera... and those chips were good today* ! *EDITED : not including the chip on 18 !
I'm not a member anywhere right now but play at Old Colwyn a lot as its cheap, quiet and not far to get to. I like to play a variety of courses as it's good for the channel. Thanks for watching :-)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 very enjoyable video indeed - you seem to have been able to put together a really good view of your own game and a jolly good description and views of each and every hole - nice and simple, but very authorative. As for being a member of a club, I too haved played many courses (458 at the moment) so have given up with this club membership business, not viable, but have joined England Golf's iGolf membership. This ensures I keep an official WHS handicap, and in truth, have probably entered many more cards in this first year, than most club members around
I should have stated this in the video but the flags are small because it is always so windy. Basically, normal sized flags get damaged due to the excessive wind. Thanks for watching :-)

Great round, looks like a really tough course! Hope to see more videos from you soon!
Wow - surely one of the most picturesque courses in the UK. What a setting.
I'm 40 and starting with golf. Love this series
I really like your videos and the way you are playing the game. Not only great entertainment but good lesson as well. Thank you.
Cheers Stefan, thanks for watching 🙂

It's a great and unique course. Not for the faint hearted though! Looking forward to playing it again this year in the summer... :)
Love it, not many RUclips golfers are brave enough to play and show St Deiniol, Its my home course (slightly biased) its a proper test of golf. Its deffo a course to play a few times to get the best out it.
Only 3 bad holes on a very tricky course with lots of trouble off the tee.. I would class that as a decent round of golf...
Cheers Paul, I was pleased with the round overall. This course is tighter than it looks and it's a potential lost ball on so many shots. Thanks for watching :-)
What a truly beautiful layout with challenging topography. Here in The States, we call that a billy goat course. Nice round after you settled down.
One for the bucket list! Great video
Love the videos James, keep it up.....
I wondered what it was like up there. I used to live in Bangor but I stopped playing golf. It's a must visit by the looks of it.
It's one of the best courses that nobody visits. So unique with amazing views and a really challenging test...
Great video James. Thamks for sharing your experience.. I luv too see different courses.. that one looked very tough..
Gorgeous part of the world. Went to Anglesey back in April. Those hills look the lovely but walking them looks like a proper chore! Well played on a testy one. Cheers!
Nice round, James. Steady. I've never seen a course with such short flag sticks. Always enjoy your videos. Cheers.
Cheers Randy, I should have talked about this in the vid. They have small flags because normal sized flags and holes get damaged due to the excessive wind. Thanks for watching :-)
It's interesting to note that St Deniol was the first bishop of North Wales. I found that interesting anyway. 😀

Great video...one minor detail...the 'cathedral' you aimed for on the 14th is actually the university building!!!
Really enjoyed watching this video James. A really challenging course. Some great putting from distance on some tricky looking greens. Well played sir! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
These videos are hypnotic.
Stunning course , and great video work
👍👍👍👍👍
Keep them coming one of the best on youtube.

This course looks fantastic. I love all the different layouts and blind shots. Great birdie too
Yeah, the course is a classic James Braid and hasn’t been altered in decades!
Mate, that course looks really tough!! Brilliant score considering. Well played again 👍
Very challenging.. but maybe a little to much defensive play. But great play on the up hill holes. Last hole I was holding my head. No idea what you did on that pitch.
Great views. Well done again 👍🏻👍🏻⛳️
Hi James, I really enjoy your videos and watch each week before I play here at my home course in South Australia. Keep up the great work!
Cheers Vince, enjoy your golf mate! :-)
Did the green keeper put the flags on a 90 degree wash lol
well done James
Love your composure, and love your short game. Cheers.
It was definitely tough going on that 2nd hole! haha
A nice round on a challenging but interesting course, some lovely views. Those blind shots are tough, lost many a ball on leaf covered fairways even after a good shot.

It’s definitely not an up and down standard parkland track 🙂🙂🙂
Well done mate.. tricky place.
Some very good golf 👍🏻
It's a lot harder than it looks. So much danger on nearly every hole where even a slightly errant shot will be punished by a lost ball. Thanks for watching :-)
I like how some of the greens look like they were created by a blast of some kind. Looks like a good effort!
The course is proper carved into the hillside on some holes. It seems like unchanged in a century!
A tricky course James. Well done. Perhaps get yourself an electric trolley.
Beautiful scenery James and a good score. Let me know if you ever fancy another go around Hawarden, or one of the portal courses and I’ll sponsor it for you. Pennant Park would also be interesting to see you go around. Might want a buggy for that one too!
Used to be a member here. Very challenging course . Holes 11-14 amen corner 😂 can wreck a card. Well played
By far the toughest course I've ever played. Seems like never ending up and down shots. Big respect to all the members here! 👍👍👍
Looked hard work,great scor👏
What a great course
I'm definitely going to play there next summer.
Great score for such a difficult course! Well done 😄
When are you and Sick Shiels having a round? Love from South Africa ⛳🍺
Very nice video James.
Well played James, that looked a really hard course. You must be knackered mate.
Cheers Chris, I knew what I was in for and had to pace myself for the round. It's the type of course some people will love and others will detest.
Definitely not an average day on the fairways! haha :-)
Looks a really beautiful course.

Game's coming on nicely James and digging the shoes 🧐🌟🥳
Cheers John, those Footjoy shoes are one of my best ever golf purchases. Along with the meniro wool hiking socks I've never had one blister which is amazing! Thanks for watching :-)
Bravo 👏
+16 on such a difficult course...i'd buy it, James ! What a putt for birdie on hole 8, you'll remember that one, right? I hope you enjoyed an excellent and well deserved beer on hole 19 😀 cheers James
So many holes with elevation changes! Makes it tough to get the right club in your hand. ⛳️
Another great video James, well played. Maybe next time get a buggy 😀😀
Good effort mate.
Thought you stayed in the "moment" very well considering your start and the windy conditions, and, it's good to challenge yourself occasionally !! well played.
How perfect was the birdie putt 🎉 great round 👍
Really nice views - when you can get your breath! Never seen so many blind shots....
It is really unnerving but a great challenge. The views are amazing and if this place was in Scotland or the South of England it would probably be £75+ a round. Thanks for watching :-)
Great video 👍👍
great ... my weekend's started.
Cheers Gareth, thanks for watching mate :-)
Tiny flags but amazing views
Looks as if it took 5 or 6 holes to get into your game.
But then your approaches and shot game really kicked into action.
Good, solid round on a very challenging, yet beautiful course...Well done.
Courses are alot greener and wind is far more blustery than 4 or 5 weeks ago...making your score all more impressive. 🍻
With all the blind shots to the green they should have longer flag sticks. Enjoyed the video as always.
I should have stated this in the vid normal sized flags & holes get damaged due to the excessive wind. Thanks for watching :-)
I would be happy with breaking 90 on that course. Exhausting. Love your videos
I was psyching myself up to play this course again lol
First tee shot at our local practice course is at walk down to bottom of a very steep slope . Everyone takes a second shot from top , we'll I do anyway .
I saw the little twirl of the driver on the first, I new you'd break the course record,.... For someone wearing silly socks 😀
That is one very tough course both physically and golf wise, for me the enjoyment level would be low but well done to you with a good score.
It’s a really tough track to walk. So many up and down holes. Respect to the members who play here. Thanks for watching 🙂
Looks a beast of a course
It's definitely a fun and interesting course to play. I think the HCP rating of the course is way off!
Looking too play this when I'm next in North Wales will deffo get a buggy or get the missus to caddie for me 🤣
how long did the whole 18 take to play ? (with filming etc)
5 hours. Toughest course I ever walked by a mile! 🙂
Was that your longest ever drive? What a shot!
2nd best I think. I hit a 298 yard drive the first shot in this round: ruclips.net/video/fuHXXNQ8PiI/видео.html (both were massively downhill..!!!). Thanks for watching :-)
Good pitching- if you swayed less on the longer clubs you would knock a few shots off
Really good watch. You're becoming more confident in front of the camera... and those chips were good today* !
*EDITED : not including the chip on 18 !
Next time mention the isotonic brand. Maybe you’ll get a sponsor out of it 😊
Take a Sherpa next time James😂
It amazes me how well you do with such a short back swing. Do you realize how short it is?
I’m changing to a full swing this winter. 20% more distance on every club 👍
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 I've been trying that for years. Mine is still not quite long enough. Good luck.
Was that last 7 iron off a cliff? 195 yards. You need to register for the Tour.
Tour card should come through next week :-)
I need to buy a tracer like he has!!! Notice the 293 drive?
@RonMcK 😂 no. I was too busy looking at the 240yd drive with a half swing and no rotation.
hahaha How about the 30' lag putt 6" from the hole?@@ianward5272
Ian check out his putting on the 6th hole at Abersoch GC. Magic????
Hi James are you a member of a Club and if so which one ?? playing Anglesey Monday and tuesday
I'm not a member anywhere right now but play at Old Colwyn a lot as its cheap, quiet and not far to get to. I like to play a variety of courses as it's good for the channel. Thanks for watching :-)

Did the Hole 8 birdie playback in your dreams?;-)
It didn't look easy so well played
What….a…..putt…..! 🍾🏆
Wow
thumbs up for the thumbs up
👍👍👍🙂
James, have you got taller or were some of those flags tiny? 😂
I should have stated this in the video but the flags are small because it is always so windy. Basically, normal sized flags get damaged due to the excessive wind. Thanks for watching :-)
The pro told me a few months ago the small flags are because the locals scroats keep knicking em. Keep the full flags for comp days 💪
What’s with those tiny flagsticks? Looks odd.
I should have stated this in the vid normal sized flags & holes get damaged due to the excessive wind. Thanks for watching :-)
Size of the flags 🤣🤣
Small flags arnt they🤪🚩
30Pounds? WOW!!! is that the norm for a buggy? Love the channel
