I am 60 years playing and only watch sports on RUclips for the most part. This by far is the most positive commentary and comments section I have seen. Well done James, you lead by example. I feel better after every round/episode.
Golf in a nutshell: hole 5, tee to green not great but a magical putt saves par. Next hole, glorious drive and layup, then it all goes wrong. Oh well. Thanks for another great video James, see you on the next one.
Hi James, great job mate! I live down south but my grandparents live in Llundudno, and the first links course I ever played was Conwy. So cool to see it again, and being played by such a great guy!
Congratulations on beating your goal!! You really have come a long way from where you started. I really love watching your videos and looking at the wonderful scenery of Wales.
Nice round James. Good to see you doing the gardening, I played yesterday and there were loads of un-repaired pitch marks and un-raked bunkers, not many of them mine but I fixed them anyway. That does make me mildly irritated. It looks like a lovely course, shame the greens are like a ploughed field at the moment, I'm sure they will get better but it didn't help, a bit bobbly sums them up.
I always fix extra pitch marks than my own as it is a habit from playing at Rhos-on-sea. It's a good feeling to think the green is just slightly better than when you played it. Thanks for watching
Hello James, I feel your pain on every miss hit and love it when things go well. Love the commentary and would like to see you commentating a professional tour. 😀 Keep going with your videos, they are a great inspiration to a fledgling golfer like myself. Cheers🍻
Great turnaround on the back nine. Courses started opening here this week. Play nine yesterday shooting a 50. Just enjoyed getting out and swinging the clubs. Can’t complain about anything. Love the course you played.
Great putt on 4th...30+ ft...Boom! Real mixed bag on front 9 but so solid on back 9, saved your day. My game has gone 'off the boil' recently. It's good to get some course management therapy from your videos. Such a frustrating game, but we love it. Well Done! On to the next challenge.
Beautiful course. Wish I had a course like that to play on. Really enjoy watching you play. Keep up the good work can't wait for the day you shoot even par.
Well James bit of a mixed bag of a round there. The course did look quite tough to be fair. Still, some good strikes and your lag putts as always are very good. Need to get on the putting green and drill out those 3 foot putting nerves. I used to suffer with that a couple of years back and spent hours on the putting green just hitting 3, 4 and 5 foot putts until I felt confident everytime I stood over a putt. Keep up the good work and great videos. Mark
Conwy has to be one of the most unforgiving courses I’ve ever played so I can totally relate to your round. You kept it in play and considering the maintenance work going on, especially on the greens, you played the course well.
Cheers mate, it's always a tough day on the fairways at Conwy. I was chatting to a member the last time I played and their handicap was 7 but really they were around a HCP 2 at most other courses nearby 👍 👍
So, in SoCal where I live, a lot of us play tee to green on the punched greens and add two strokes for the green play. But we all know that's a bit forgiving . Anyway, Conwy looks like a course I'd like to play. We have links-like courses here, but nothing like Conwy. One thing I love about your videos is you show all your shots (fats, tops, etc) and not just the shots that make you look good. Excellent work. Keep them coming.
Cheers Randy, that's one of the aims of this channel to show normal golf. So you get the good, the bad and the downright ugly! haha thanks for watching :-)
You have a positive attitude and long may it stay that way, that putt on the 17th looked in all the way then stopped on the lip, we've all been there !! another great video, cheers.
A great round on a hard course. I was a member there for about 15 years and it brought back memories of playing on lovely summer evenings then a few ( ? ) pints in the bar. The rough seems a bit easier than when I played, it was thick heather which was a sod to get out of. My old house in view as well. Thanks for loading the video, keep it up.
Cheers Patrick, it's a great course Conwy. A couple of the members mentioned that they still let the rough grow in the summer. I was glad to not lose any balls this day! Thanks for watching
Enjoyed watching you play while struggling with Covid and looking forward to getting back out on the course though it feels a little way off still. In the meantime I will settle for watching.
Hey James. Boy 13th and 15th were a killer. Conway is now my favorite new course you have played. You have come a long way and you're more consistent. I took you lesson tips on the Grip and Swing and found a Video to complement the same direction. I went out yesterday on the range and although the new grip felt a bit awkward, after a few swings it started to make an impression. I then went out and played 9 without keeping score to just get a feel for the grip and swing. it will be a work in progress but believe it's the ticket to correct my slice. The stronger grip definitely helps correct that. I'm playing in a tournament Sunday. I play in a men's club on Saturdays I enjoy the game so much and the guys I play with. The Shot Tracker is a great visual aide and gives your videos the ability to be watched, without It I wouldn't find it as interesting and harder to follow along. Thumbs up!
Enjoyed your video. Had me confused at first with the 15 handicap. Then I remembered you guys HC system is way different than the US. Here, I think you would be a 20+ HC. Keep it up, looks like you are having a great time. Which is all that matters.
With respect to James, he’s a 15 handicap because he plays very short courses. This one was a bit of a reality check, but at 6200 yards from the green tees, it’s still short. I would agree a 25 handicap is more accurate. It’s impossible to get lower if you are hitting a 6 iron 130 yards. But hey, he’s a work in progress! Ps I’m pretty sure we have exactly the same handicap system as the US
Good round James. I do think you gave the course a bit too much respect at the start, but you really started to settle in around the 12th-13th holes. I was willing those putts to drop on the 13th and 17th! Good score in the end in tough conditions.
Yeah, at the start I was a little tentative on the first 2 par 4s. The 17th putt should have dropped but the the evening dew kept it out! Thanks for watching.
Looks like you had fun there James and some great holes at Conwy. I'm playing there at the end of April so hopefully the works will be finished by then and the greens running better. Some good approach shots and unlucky on one or two of those putts James!
My 14 year old son and I met you on the 8th tee and walked to your drives together….you really captured the course and scenery well…lovely chatting to you👍
Cheers John, nice to meet you too. Your son is already a great player he nearly had a GIR on that hole. I'm looking forward to playing both Padewood & Buckley and Mold golf courses this year. It's great that the parkland courses have dried out already. All the best - James
Great round James! I’ve commented before but hitting a full swing could transform your game… with a full swing 150yrds is 8-iron territory as opposed to 5-wood. Nice chilled videos.. but hit it man! ;-)
@@neilhiscutt8796 he can't take it back further because he takes the club away with a closed face, needs some forearm rotation which will get his right arm folding better and enable his hands to get higher.
Those link-style courses… puts a premium on hitting fairways, huh? 😀 Round was okay overall. If you would for me: in your next practice tee session, see if you can take a series of swings where-in your backswing at 3 o’clock-you might rotate your forearms a tad and get the toe of the club pointing skyward. You’re super-closed in your takeaway. I think rotating the club head (and subsequently, your body) through the swing will provide a more dependable line, thus, more fairways, thus, more GIRs. Just a thought.
When you chipped onto the 6th green, that is one situation where you would have had a better chance with your putter. My suggestion would be to try and putt those more often, you have a better chance of holing it versus the chip. That could take strokes off for ya.

Yes the fairways at Conwy are much more narrow than the normal courses I play. I needed to play the front 9 better as I think I was too defensive causing some mishits. Driver off the tee is standard for me as I need at least a 180 yard distance. Thanks for watching
